Just a tip for you, I can understand you like the 2 pul with the ref.photo under the plate, but you can use matte medium to lift it and there will be no background colour.
Thanks so much for that tip Lisbeth! I'm obviously still learning and appreciate feedback from those of you who have better skills at the gelli plate than me.
Thank you for the creative inspiration! I have some ideas to play with. I'll offer one lets the paint completely dry on the plate then cover with gel medium and then pull all the paint off. I love your try #3 on the 2nd go-round. Nice and loose. Very interesting
This is an amazing idea! Quick suggestion.... When you added the grey and brayered it on top, before you remove the paper, wait 3-4 min then you will have a clean pull!!!
I appreciate you letting me know that you found the video helpful. I'm no pro at the gelli plate but definitely wanted to just share a variety of ways to use it.
What a FUNtabulous idea! Loving your tips like use black and white photo which would help me with color value. Who would have thought to put the pic under the plate? Obviously not me 😂......fun trying things that you are not sure how they will work either...
I've watched a couple of your vids and not sure if you realize that you are not pulling the image. Watch some other vids to see how that works. You're missing an important step. Really cool idea to trace voer the image here!
Thanks for that tip. Clearly, I'm not that experienced with the gelli plate so receiving ideas and suggestions from viewers like you who are further along is very helpful.
@@pamhemmerling I think that your portraits would be less abstract if you did a standard pull. I really like the effect that you are getting---it is more interesting to me, as you state in your title, these are abstract portraits. Bravo!
I'm sorry you had a negative viewing experience Sonia. I'll admit it is hard to find free music that fits everyone's taste. That being said, you could mute the volume during those times so you are not distracted.

Thanks so much for watching! I appreciate your tip with the gel medium--I'll definitely give it a try.

I also made this experience - even left it a bit longer than that. It should feel completely dry, before one removes the paper. 🥰
Thanks so much for that suggestion. So many have recommended that I leave the paper on longer--definitely will give that a try next time.
@@brittahansen8688 Thanks, that is good to know.
To pick up the ghost print, you can use matte medium.
@@lindacallaway2253 Thanks Linda--I appreciate that tip!
Let the portrait dry thoroughly and then cover with another layer of color that youbrayer on. Great idea!
Thanks Nancy! I appreciate that tip!
Really appreciate getting all these cool 😎 inspirations 🥰 thank you 🙋♀️ greetings from Germany
Oh Katrin, I appreciate you saying that. I realize I'm not an expert at the gelli plate but want to share my creative process to encourage others.
SO COOL‼️‼️‼️‼️
Glad you like it Lynn! Thanks for watching and letting me know.
Great videos - you encourage me to play & experiment 👏🤩😍

Thanks Thania--I hope you give it a try!

Thanks Pam--I hope you give it a try. Obviously, you can spend more time than I did and copy the image in more detail.
You need to leave the paper on slightly longer if you want a better result🤪
Thanks for that tip Reni! Clearly, I'm still learning.

Music distracting
I'm sorry you had a negative viewing experience Sonia. I'll admit it is hard to find free music that fits everyone's taste. That being said, you could mute the volume during those times so you are not distracted.
@@pamhemmerling I’m so sorry Pam… your content is amazing…. I do love it…
@@raggapuss No problem Sonia--I totally get it.
