Cat-This video is another winner!!! ❤❤❤ I just continually love to listen to your words, hear your thought process, watch you work, etc. You’re always inspiring me, rejuvenating me, making me want to play in my studio, or resolve one of my current problems/challenges! You fill me with joy- “Collage Joy” !!! Thank you! PLUS, what a treat to see one of your “glue and go” projects in action! 😍
I think this is genius! What a great idea for creators to film and then turn-it doesn’t matter which way you look at collage-it’s the process. I find that I see the piece better when your hands are on the left, and then being able to send to IG when you want! I’m stealing this for the future when I film. You are so generous with your info…I tell everyone about kickstart if they have any inkling of wanting to learn collage. Thanks so much❤❤❤❤
Catherine, this is the first time that I have had the joy of looking at your presentation. It really is a challenge, but I want to try! I have been saving pieces of paper for years (to use in artwork). This looks like a great way to express myself. I may sign up for your beginner program. Thanks! Maire
I think you will find that my free 5-day workshop Collage Kickstart will give you a place to start using all the papers you have been saving, along with making a ton more! Hope you will join me.
Now and then I also create little paper collages and it always feels like a little meditation. Your little artworks inspire me very much. Thanks for this video. ❤
This is so inspiring….I am realizing I don’t find joy in planning out complicated compositions and want to work paper by paper intuitively as I go….the reminder to focus on contrast and trusting this is a good one 😍😍😍
I was totally inspired by your video. Immediately, I practiced a Glue and Go technique in a postcard size paper and produced one of my best abstract collages. You’re a great muse!
Although I have only made a few collages,I’m mostly a painter, you are such an inspiration, thank you! I’m going to use a small flip book like yours and do some painting/collage in it..to get myself started again,I lost my husband of 50 years,a year ago and need to start my Art life again…Thank you♥️🇨🇦
So glad that you enjoyed the demo, and I would be honored to have you in one of my classes. A good one to start with is Collage Kickstart, and its free!
You are always an inspiration.. I love learning about your process, and what parts of it I can translate into my own practice....I appreciate your generosity in sharing your skill and beautiful art.
You are such a dear soul Emily. Thank you for the very kind words. I'm truly honored that you continue to follow my art, especially since you are quite an accomplished artist yourself.
Thanks so much for the loving feedback about my collages. At the moment I'm not selling my sketchbooks, but could in the future. If you are on my newsletter list (link to sign up is under the video), you will get information about my free classes and when my art goes for sale.
You are welcome. They are created with molding paste. You can learn this paper in my free online workshop Collage Kickstart, the link to sign up is under the video. Would love to have you.
Thank you! Look under the video and you'll see a description of the video, and the last word is MORE. Click there and you'll get the list of supplies with links.
Love the process and the results! Very inspiring :) A question: what kind of collage paper is that one with blue dots that you use in the video (around 8:18)? I saw some like that in other videos of yours and sometimes it seems to me that they have some texture, but I am unsure. Thank you! :)
Thanks so much for the positive feedback. The blue dots are tented molding paste applied over a stencil. This is something I teach in my free online 5-day class Collage Kickstart. You can check this out from the link below this video.
Think of the color blue, but you can have that color in a baby blue, a medium blue, or a very dark blue. Those would be a light medium and dark value papers.
Catherine, on a few of these pages I see bright metallic gold 'squiggles' that look raised on the page. one of them is on the front of the page marked '12' and and another on '25.' Can you tell me please what these markings are and how they were made so they are raised on the page. Thank you.
That is just a white circle made of card stock that I cut out. I actually provide the templates for these circles in two of my workshops - Collage Keepsake and Collage Joy.
Sorry that you found the sideways view challenging. This was originally filmed vertically for an Instagram Reel, and then turned into a horizontal video for YT. Most of my videos for YT are horizontal.

They feel like a meditation for me as well, as long as I can keep my critical mind out of the creating process. Thanks so much for watching!

Just watched your video for the first time very inspiring. May I ask what kind of glue that you use?🥰
Thanks so much for watching. I use matte medium and gel medium as my glues.
Hi… this is terrific. Thanks. I can’t see how to access the tools/supplies list. Could you help me with that?
Thank you! Look under the video and you'll see a description of the video, and the last word is MORE. Click there and you'll get the list of supplies with links.

Great stuff! What do you mean by "the value of the paper"? Thanks.
Think of the color blue, but you can have that color in a baby blue, a medium blue, or a very dark blue. Those would be a light medium and dark value papers.
@@catrains.artist Oh, I see. Thank you. I thought you were reffering to the paper itself.
Very impressive ! What do you use for glue?
Thank you! I use matte medium and gel medium.

They are made with a fine liner filled with acrylic paint, applied to tissue paper, and then glued to my collage once dried.
@@catrains.artist, thank you so much! They add such a beautiful touch!
Where do you find those wonderful little scrap books.
There is a link to this one underneath the video, under MORE.
At about 11:38 you use a semi circle of white that I think you called a dirkle. What is tha pleaset?
That is just a white circle made of card stock that I cut out. I actually provide the templates for these circles in two of my workshops - Collage Keepsake and Collage Joy.
"Only 70 collages" tee hee
Why sideways view? Every camera/phone allows you to turn your view after the video is recorded. Unwatchable.
Sorry that you found the sideways view challenging. This was originally filmed vertically for an Instagram Reel, and then turned into a horizontal video for YT. Most of my videos for YT are horizontal.
