I'm sorry the music is bad on this video. I've already received many comments on it and wish I could change it but I can't. So know that I do know about it and there is no need to comment further. Thanks.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your talent with us! Loved the techniques shared. I can’t wait to play later. Thank you for not removing it due to comments. I am able to zone in on what matters. Also, for anyone interested, you can turn the volume off and add close captions. Choose having a fun-filled positive day, everyone!
Thank you so much Susan! I've ordered my first gelli plate and have watched about a million videos, but yours is hands down the one I needed today! You are inspiring.
I've just found your channel and i love your techniques, thank you! I have to say that I'm not a fan of music on instructional videos. It's not about volume or the choice of music, I just prefer to hear what the person is saying. That's not a criticism, just my personal observation, and it won't stop me subscribing 😊
You set it up well with good marker design. I think there is enough interest in the process to not require music, which tends to divide the mind. Thinking as you go and creating new directions lets viewers tune into the process. I am getting keen on the idea of small plates. Thanks for the video.
I had lots of comments on the music. On my computer it didn't sound load and then I noticed it after upload. UGH! I have new software and computer and need to get the setting right. Thanks for watching.
@@SusanCliftonArtist Not sure why you feel the music is necessary. I’d be happier with no music at all. It’s very difficult to find music that’s pleasing for everyone in your audience.
Couldn’t agree more!! It seems newer channels almost always have music. Then there is enough push back that the owner soon drops the music and subscriptions seem to go up. There’s a learning curve to everything, right?
Thank you Susan. I would have been nervous that the felt pen would ruin the plate. Now I will have to try it! Your prints are really nice. I do agree with others about the music in the video. You have a lovely voice and the music is quite annoying. Thank you for sharing your techniques with us.
Sorry the music was so loud on this video. I wish TH-cam allowed us to swap out a video but they don't. I was surprised how nice the marker worked on the plate. It was fun.
Susan I love your art, your content and your music keep it or change it no worries. I watch you often and read a lot of comments and this is the first time I heard such negative comments about your music. If you look at the number of neg comments compared to the positive ones, it will let you know if you should remove or charge your process. Please focus on the positives . Much success
Thank you so much. Yes, I try to ignore the negative comments. They are people who haven't noticed that except for 2 videos my music is subtle. I like to add it sometimes if I think it's necessary. What people don't realize is I can't change once it's up. So it's not like I can do something about it. So I ignore them now. Can't please everyone all the time. I'm very fortunate to have a super positive community growing everyday. 😀
Ditto every comment ESPECIALLY those that suggested you drop the music altogether ! The Art Videos i tend to stay subscribed to are focused on the art lesson and don’t have the distraction of music -- especially rapid staccato beats. I finally muted the whole thing and just watched u work -- which I’m guessing wasn’t your goal :-)
Do you use a hard roller? A have one that is little rubbery. Collur does not stain on the gelly plate as muts ass by you're plate. If I go over it 2 or3 times it lifts it richt off agen
I use a soft rubbery one just like yours. It is best for the Gel plate. When you brayer the paint on make sure you have enough paint but not too much. If you see me going back and forth it's because I had too much paint and I was removing the excess. The brayer will take off your paint if you keep going back and forth. Try to go only in one direction and lift your brayer off the plate. You just gave me an idea for a video. Thank you!
I have found that iridescent a and metallics are not particularly effective for pulling ghost and dried paint prints. My guess is that the micas interfere with the clean pull.
I love this idea with the marker and am wondering if it can be done using a Posca pen? I also love the layering on one pull. I’m always doing one layer at a time. This is much more exciting.
Yes. Posca pens work on the gelli plate. I'm planning to do one with black and white chunky posca pens. They are acrylic so it should work even better than the marker.
I recently bought a couple more texture plates from Michaels and I have a feeling it was one of the Craft Smart texture plates that come three in a pack. These days I'm trying to be more mindful of where I'm getting things.
If it's the first one with the circles you are referring to, I'm not sure. I think it may be because it dried and there was no wet paint on top. The one thing you can be sure of gelli prints is that you never know what's going to happen. But that is also the fun part.
I just discovered your videos and loooove them! The chunky marker is so cool! A question - if I use a chunky black Posca instead of the sharpie (only because I have it already), do I let it dry completely first? And then build the layers?
Is the Sharpie permanent? If so, were there any problems? Someone recommended water based Sharpies, so I wondered. Great print, your “favorite,” that is.
I use the Magnum Sharpie marker and it does say it's permanent but it doesn't ruin the plate. I have not experience with other markers. I tried Posca pens and it didn't work for me. I will try again but until I know why it didn't work I don't want to recommend it.
@@SusanCliftonArtist Thanks. I’m not crazy about Poscas the way so many people seem to be. I’ve tried them on the plate but the flow is just inconsistent enough to be problematic.
Because they sound flat without it. This one was a mistake though. The new editing software I was using made it louder than I expected. Once it's posted I can't change it. But thanks for watching.

It put me off watching whole thing
Just avoid putting music --it is so distracting and annoying.

Love your choice of colours in these prints and your technique and how you take a peek 'under' the gelli plate - genius!!
Thanks for watching.

The music volume problem has been solved. Sorry about that.

Make sure they are really sharpies.

Just be sure not to use the one by Faber Castelle, it will not come off! Trust me, I know!😞
I think this is my favorite set of prints. The colors are spectacular. Can’t wait to try it!!!
Mine too! Thanks for watching.
Loved them all!
Thanks for watching.
I love your color choices!!❤
Thanks. Can't get enough of bright colors.
wonderful glad to have discovered you, quick, clean, insightful, love how you think bout process, wonderful again, thanks!
Welcome. Thanks for watching.
Love all the pulls. Very innovative.
Thanks. I really like working with the markers.
Fantastic! They're all gorgeous. I discovered I had one of those Fat Poscas - a white round tip, and it makes love big dots.
Thanks. It was a fun experiment. These tips videos are bringing me to new explorations. I'm having fun.
These are great! Love the dynamic designs and how the color pops!
Thanks so much!
Each one is just lovely!
❤❤❤❤
Fabulous pulls!! Its sometimes hard to imagine what might come up on the paper but its sure fun to play around!
The markers are amazing to play with.

You're welcome 😊
This is precious. Thanks. I've got a couple of markers. Going to try this 😊
sharpies work well. Thanks for watching.
Excellent.
Many thanks!
Love your videos!
Glad you like them! I love the markers. I should do that again.
Fab pulls .Great colours
Thanks
Seems like you could layer matte medium over the marker and then proceed with layering and picking up with the stencil without lifting the black?
Yes, but I liked the way the came out without doing that. If it is important to not have it lift I would do that. I did that on another video.
Lovely ideas!
Glad you like them!
Wow, this is gorgeous! Will have to try this out.
Yes, Try it. It's lots of fun.
Love this tutorial and your pulls!!!
Thanks so much 😊

BRILLIANT!!!

Just found your channel. I’m loving your style.
Welcome. Glad to have you here. Thanks for watching.😎
Very nice
Thanks for watching.
Found this video interesting and informative and helpful im very inspired..💛🇨🇦🇺🇲✍👩🎨🎨
Be sure to buy the correct marker. Someone bought I different, permanent one and it ruined the plate. It's the Magnum one. amzn.to/482cCgN
Loved the video, Susan!!!
Thanks Cheryl
GreT technique thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Fabulous!! Great work! ❤❤❤
This was a lot of fun. Thanks for watching.
Do you use a register to line up your prints? They look great!!!
Not always. I don't think I did here. I'm not doing finished compositions so usually I don't care if they don't line up.
Do you use a hard roller? A have one that is little rubbery. Collur does not stain on the gelly plate as muts ass by you're plate. If I go over it 2 or3 times it lifts it richt off agen

What does it mean when your paper sticks to the paint when you do the last pull?
Sometimes if you put too thin a coat that will happen. Especially if you leave too long to dry.
I have found that iridescent a and metallics are not particularly effective for pulling ghost and dried paint prints. My guess is that the micas interfere with the clean pull.
Yes. But sometimes the iridescent that sticks to the paint can show up on later prints. It's weird. But it always looks good.
Thank you, great video. What do you do with the prints? Collage?
Yes. Collage.
They are lovely enough to stand alone!
I really enjoyed this! Did you ever work out what the fine grid texture plate was?
I recently bought a couple more texture plates from Michaels and I have a feeling it was one of the Craft Smart texture plates that come three in a pack. These days I'm trying to be more mindful of where I'm getting things.
I agree. I try to make my own but I will sometimes buy them. thanks for the info!

What caused to circle at bottom right that repels the marker?
If it's the first one with the circles you are referring to, I'm not sure. I think it may be because it dried and there was no wet paint on top. The one thing you can be sure of gelli prints is that you never know what's going to happen. But that is also the fun part.
@@SusanCliftonArtistHow unusual and interesting way of painting.

Yes. make sure it's dry or it will smear. The Posca marker should work beautifully.
Is the Sharpie permanent? If so, were there any problems? Someone recommended water based Sharpies, so I wondered. Great print, your “favorite,” that is.

Fat acrylic paint markers might work well too 😊
I'm sure they would. Although probably not the oil based ones.
@@SusanCliftonArtist that’s true. I didn’t even consider the oils ones 😀
Does the marker stain or change the way other mediums lay down? What about alcohol markers?
I haven’t tried alcohol markers yet. But the sharpie markers behave just like paint.
Wont sharpy permanently stain the geli plate
No they do not stain the plate. This is the Magnum marker. I can't say anything about the others. This one does not stain and picks up well.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for watching.
Ohh my the music is so loud will have to watch in mute mode great pulls
I apologize for that. New equipment is the cause. I'm working on it to make sure my next video is correctly edited. Thanks for letting me know.
Plug your ears..
Where can I get that small grid stencil?
Unfortunately I don’t remember where I got the stamps from. Maybe Michael’s. I know I didn’t buy them online. Wish I could remember.
❤❤❤❤❤
I couldn't hear what you were saying through the music :(
😎
❤ love your ideas ❤ but music to loud😢
2 bad videos out of 210 is not bad. Sorry.
I didn't know that you could use a Sharpie marker on a gelli plate without ruining it.
It works well. This one was a lot of fun for me.
You don’t need music in the background. Why do craft videos use music?!
Because they sound flat without it. This one was a mistake though. The new editing software I was using made it louder than I expected. Once it's posted I can't change it. But thanks for watching.
You have a very nice calming voice. When you are just chatting about your thought process, it’s relaxing to listen to. I actually prefer it to music.
All the comments are listed as replies and I don’t see any actual replies from you? Glitch?
