Inspiring mixed media art videos to encourage you in your creative journey.
Currently in the Art Studio - Mixed Media, Collage, Oil Pastels, & More
In this video, get a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the art I am working on as I prepare for the February Art Walk. Although I am not showing the actual process I did want to give you a peek at the various pieces I'm finishing up. I'll admit to feeling a bit scattered as I'm attempting to complete everything in a short amount of time.

Thanks for watching Kim!
This was great. I'd also be interested in what you have to say about which brand dries the most quickly.
Hmmm, that is an interesting question. I think paint drying times are really dependent on how thick your paint is--obviously heavy body will dry slower than fluid. I'm not sure brand-to-brand there is much of a difference. Thanks for watching and giving me something to ponder.
Love your studio and your works! I could show up the piles of work I have! I did get some ideas from you, in terms of what I’m going to do with my piles!❤ thank you so much for sharing!
Thanks so much Cassandra! Be sure and let me know what you do with your piles of art!
I really enjoyed hearing about your process with the three girls with tattoos. I'm a big fan of a limited palette. 😊Thanks for sharing your space. Wow, I hope to be half that prolific this year. ☺
I have to admit that being invited to show my art is a real motivator to get some pieces done. I spent most of last year just working in my art journal so switching it up and working on various substrates was good. I'm glad you enjoyed hearing about the process of those 3 girl paintings--I ended up putting quotes on their arms.
How wonderful to see your larger works. Thank you so much!!
Thanks Denise! I have a lot of very large paintings but it's tricky to make videos of working on them--it's something I will hopefully figure out down the road.
I’m just here to say that I loved this video so much. Giving us a glimpse into all of your projects was amazing. My favorite was the last piece with all the squares! I loved it. You’re one of my favorite artists on TH-cam and I’m so glad I found your channel. Thanks for sharing this with us!
You are so kind and encouraging!! I've got a smile on my face as I'm typing this. Thanks for letting me know that you like the piece with the wood squares and encaustic--I really wasn't sure about it!
I especially like your book collage on the boards. Lots of great projects. Good luck on your Art Walk!
Thanks Debbie! I've had fun putting those collages together--I'm glad you like them!
I really enjoyed seeing your works in progress!
Thanks Liz-Anna! I might try to show larger art more often.
This is so exciting Pam! and I love how you always find ways to solve problems!!
I appreciate your enthusiasm Maria! And I do enjoy thinking outside the box--plus my husband helps me problem solve so I can't take all the credit.
Ooh I LOVE seeing your work outside of sketchbooks! Thoroughly enjoyed this video. Thankyou for sharing it!
Thanks Angelina! I will try to make a video of all the finished art that is hanging at the coffee shop for the Art Walk. I appreciate you watching!
Please do a video of the plaster guards. Yes! Love it all, you are a creative Genius ❤have a great Art Walk!
You make me smile Jill! Who knew anyone would consider me a "creative genius"?! I will definitely consider making a video using the plaster gauze.
Thanks for sharing Pam. I really enjoy seeing what you are up to. Love your colour choices ❤
I appreciate that Lyn! Sounds like we enjoy similar colors!
Good luck
Thanks so much Barbara! I appreciate you watching.
Amazing!! A wonderful place and beautiful artworks!! 🤩😍❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for your kindness--your encouragement means a lot!
AMAZING!! Loved everything, especially the plywood squares with the modeling paste and fabric and all. Yes to a video on applying that gauzy stuff...did I spell that right?? 🤭 Really tho, all your work is dynamite!! 🧨🧨💥 Your big beautiful Studio is Devine and then some!! Now I'm waiting for a full TOUR!! 👍Best of Luck at the Art Walk!! You have soo many cool pieces to show!! BIG HUGS!! 😊
Oh my gosh, you made my day! Thanks for all your enthusiasm! I will definitely try and make a video using the plaster gauze--it is fun, although messy to use. Again thanks for your encouraging words!
Really interesting approach. I like the wet adhesive bandages. Thanks for sharing
Thanks so much! You should definitely give the plaster gauze a try.
You’re in the creative zone. The way you do different boards & canvases may feel messy. Seeing your work is amazing & your earthy palette 🤎3 tattoo women, bowls, fabric textures-all🌟
Thanks Sabine! Thankfully I was in the creative zone as I had so much to do in a short amount of time. It was very freeing as I allowed myself to do ALL the different things and not worry too much about perfection. I appreciate you watching and letting me know.
Hi Pam. I discovered the healing process from art a year ago and your style is wonderful. As I am navigating the art world on my own along with all of you lovely artist to share your time and skills each week thank you. I just adore your portrait series. Want to wish you the best of luck at the art walk.
Thanks so much for your kindness! I agree that creativity can be healing as it reaches deep inside, fills us up, and helps us express ourselves.
Love the final version of the 3 tattoo girls. The stamps are perfect!
Those girls actually changed again although I did use the stamps. I will try to make a video showing the finished version.
Love your work Pam so inspiring ❤❤❤
Thanks Elizabeth--that means a lot!
I wish I lived closer, I’d love to see your show!! I love everything you’ve shown us, my favorite are the wood blocks with the fabric squares! I’d love to have them all! I also really like the “bowl series”! Good luck!!! ❤🎨🖌️❤
Oh Dee, that means so much! Thanks for letting me know your favorites.
I always learn so much from your videos! I love the portraits and the abstracts. The art walk attendees will really enjoy your work
Thanks Marie! I appreciate your kind words!
your work is very interesting and varied, thank you for sharing.
I appreciate you saying that--thanks so much for watching and letting me know.
Thanks for showing us
Elizabeth, I appreciate you watching and letting me know!
Love it! Thank you!
Thanks for watching and letting me know!
Hi Pam!! Glad you brought this one back in 2025 since I only found you a few months ago! These are yummy! I was amazed at the second one in which you used the Yellow Oxide for the shadows!! Who does that??!! You're Always so UNIQUE!! Thank You!! 👍 ~❤~ 😊
Your comment made my day! Thanks so much! I am sitting here amazed that someone thinks I'm unique--appreciate that so much. Also, all the videos I've ever posted are always available -- just click on my name underneath the video and it will take you to the page.
I love it. I have 2 birthdays coming up & I ll give this a go. Thanks once again for the inspiration. ❤
Thanks! I make some version of this card for most everyone I know. I'm glad you are giving it a try.
Hi, Great idea, have a good day, from Montreal

Love your free style. Love to see this book👍👍👍
Thanks for your kind words Jany! I hope you are inspired to make art.
I love all these pages, they are progress and processes!! So much learning from just doing Thank you for a whole year of sharing!! I remember a lot of these pages
Love your art and your down to earth- attitude Art is fun and YOU make it so much fun. Thank you
I appreciate that so much Mathilde! I desire to be down-to-earth and show how much fun art can be--so you made my day!
Thank you Pam for sharing your Art journal. Such cool creations! I love them!
Thanks so much Lisa! I hope you are inspired to go make art!
Congratulations on this finished journal!! Beautiful and ALWAYS inspiring!! Thanks Pam!! ~❤~ Miss you already on your off Mondays!! 😢
Oh, thank you so much--I'm glad to hear you found inspiration! I'll admit it felt a little weird not having a video ready to go for last week (and this one coming up) but it has given me some creative breathing space which I needed.
Thank you, it is indeed inspiring, your raw art journal!
I appreciate you watching and letting me know!
I am definitely drawn to the grungy art and love that piece too!
So glad to hear that Alyson! Seems like there is a group of us that like that look although I know it's not for everyone.
Love the grungy!
I appreciate you letting me know Liz-Anna!
I really like your style, Pam; the textures and the muted palette are very appealing to me. And, as you can tell by my name, I'm a big fan of ladders, too! 😃
Oh my gosh, a ladder-lover! Thanks for letting me know--that makes me so happy! I appreciate that you like the texture and muted palette in my art--hopefully you are inspired in your own art making.
I really like the exploration aspect of an art journal. However, I seem to have a hard time doing it in a bound journal! I've got tons of big pieces of paper with my experiments in messy piles. Yours looks like art. Mine just look like confused and unfinished piles of experiments. But I do enjoy "playing". I'm just frustrated with my method of keeping them.
I totally understand Debbie. I think we all get "blocks" about certain things, judging ourselves. That inner critic says, "this isn't good enough, etc" Here is my suggestion (not that you asked!)....I would glue your favorite papers into an art journal, sketchbook, or notebook even if you don't think they are the best. Don't overthink it--maybe you like the colors or the design, just choose some to include. The remaining papers I would use as collage. Don't give up--press on!
@@pamhemmerling That's a great idea, thanks! I need to do something, lol.
@@debbiespringer7961 Believe me, I know how those piles of paper grow!
Pam, this is the easiest one out of the many I've watched!!! I have that YES paste, too and paper pads to use up! You inspire me so much! Thank you bunches!!❤
I'm so happy to hear that. I am all about simple and easy. One day I might get ambitious and make a stitched journal but in the meantime these work great. Thanks for watching and letting me know.
Pam....Thank you for sharing your work. I love your grungy vibe and your "have fun" attitude. You inspire me.
Oh, Gayle--thank you! I know there are some of us that just love that grunginess (it's not for everyone!) so I appreciate knowing that you are one of them.
I love your style and there are so many of these abstracts that I absolutely love!!! Thank you for sharing!!! ❤
I appreciate hearing that Dee! I know that we are each drawn to different types of art so hopefully you have some inspiration for your own art.
It shows your range. The portraits I find story full, the bold marks have energy & your colors no one can copy🙂The container shapes with plants or flowers 💚In common: red is my hesitation color. The new journal with double spread pages do they get portraits? I wonder how you would work them. Thank you, Pam 🌞
Wow, thanks for sharing your insightfulness Sabine! I appreciate that perspective on my art. And I love your "red is my hesitation color" comment. Poetry in the making! I will definitely be making portraits in the non-spiral art journals and hopefully the process will be similar to what I'm already doing. I guess we'll see.
I like that you don't use raw color out of the tube. Your color blends add depth. Nice job!
Thanks for your thoughtful comment! I appreciate you watching.
Love it‼️🙋🏻♀️
Thanks for watching Dagmar!
Your ideas always inspire me ‼️ Will try it out 🙋🏻♀️
Thanks Dagmar! I'm glad to hear that.
Fabulous idea, that I am anxious to try! Wonderful getting started activity!
Thanks Gwynned--I hope you give it a try! I appreciate you going back and watching my older videos!
My sister passed in June. We were cohorts in crime for crafting together. It has only been recently that I've returned to the crafting room. I'm still struggling with inspiration. Your video is appreciated.
I am so sorry to hear about your sister passing away-- sounds like she leaves a big hole in your heart. I know it's hard to find our creative juices when grieving but I've found creative acts can at times also help us heal. All the YT art videos will be waiting for when you're ready. Hugs to you.
@pamhemmerling Yes, a very big hole. Thank you for your kind words.
When comparing colors between brands it's always important to read the pigments on the tube so you know whether or not you're getting a comparable color
Thanks for that tip!
Love this. Very pleasing to look at ❤
Thanks for letting me know Pat! I appreciate you watching.
Thank you so much for all of your ideas. I love your posts. They are so fun & creative. I'm a complete beginner & your videos have helped me so much. Happy New Year. Thanks again. 🙂👍
I appreciate you letting me know you have been inspired--that is exactly why I make these videos! Happy New Year to you too!
