Great stuff, thanks for doing this. Which DAW and plugins are you using for the separation? BTW, love the work you've done in dialing in and analyzing Geddy's (various) tones!
Thanks for the comments! This one I just used audacity because it's the only thing I have currently which accepts the 5.1 Flac file but in the past I've used Adobe Audition to split the file into its individual channels. I've never personally extracted it from a disk but I think I have also used the application "Hand Brake" to separate the 5.1 audio from the video.
@ cool man… it so fun to play guitar with those Rush tracks that have drums, bass, keys and vocals.. It gives the fun illusion for filling in for Alex.. so much fun…
Geddy's tone was so much different here compared to AFTK and later albums with the Rickenbacker. Sounds like Geddy favoured the neck pickup on this album, more bassey and not as much growl.
This was most likely recorded in mono as was Caress Of Steel. Early 70's Ricks seem to generally have a low output bridge pickup so the neck pickup will overpower it in mono. I was messing around with a rented Traynor YBA-100 and my '76 Rick, I found straight into the front of it in mono it got very close to this tone as well as the Caress Of Steel honky tone, although my '76 has the later neck pickup spacing so it's a little different from Geddy's original '73 4001.

@@rocket88k12 It would have been a whole lot of quiet audio😅
@@kevinsheppard2312 😂
Alex Lifeson is one of my favorite guitarists, so I really hate myself for how much I love listening to this!
And Ged sings over these crazy bass lines !!!!!🤯
The fly by night bass tab is amazing
Great work! Thanks...EADG
Geddy also sang while playing this! That's why I can't understand why people liked Lemmy. Rush part 1 era was amazing imo!
This SERIOUSLY KICKS A$$!!!!
dude awesome ive been waiting for something like this to pop up! This is great
@@rocket88k12 happy to supply it!
B,B and B sounds so much like Squier to me.
Sounds to me like the ole Fender P bass on Making Memories, the Ric on everything else.
Good observation!

Was Geddy using flatwound strings back then?
@@DavidS-vs5mj He wouldn’t have used flat wounds here but he used to use labella flats I think in the late 60s early 70s.
It would be even more amazing if you added the vocal track.......
@@klaatuklaatu1 I’ll see if I can get a good isolation.

What equaliser do you use to isolate it?
It's actually taken from the subwoofer (LFE) channel of the Signals remix. It's nice cause it pretty much just bass and a bit of drums.
