....and I don't think we'll see something like this again.... 3 talented, wonderful guys who stuck together and made such memorable music! So thankful I saw them for all those years!
People always say that RUSH is Neil Peart. But for me, even as a drummer, Geddy was always what made RUSH. His incredible Bass playing, keyboards, floor pedals, etc., and even his voice, is what made RUSH so powerful! Been a RUSH fan since 1979, and will always be! Saw them 19 times live since 1980!
Rush couldn’t work without all three of those guys. Geddy has always been my personal favorite though because I love bass and I just think it’s so cool how long his voice lasted despite how loud and constantly he had to sing. I wish I could’ve seen them live :(
@@blakeandotherstuff Oh, certainly, RUSH is an amalgamation of all three, but Geddy was just musically superb amongst those Gods! Neil was a lyrical genius, and Alex, DAMN, what an amazing guitar player he has always been!
@@ThePUNisher2112YYZ True, but Jeff Jones was replaced almost immediately by Lee, and not too long after their debut album, RUSH, Rutsey had tremendous stage fright, that eventually Peart replaced him on drums as well as becoming the primary lyricist for the band.
🚀💃🏻why are we here!! I’m 63 and now calling this band one of my fav ❤ RIP Neal Pert. Besides being the Best drummer, he wrote awesome lyrics and Books 😇
The proudest moment of my entire life was when my son Dylan.. at age 14.. with Autism Spectrum… who normally spent all of his time “hibernating” in his room… stepped out of his room one day and said “Dad… come and listen to this band.. they’re amazing.. you’ve probably never heard of them.. they’re called RUSH!!”.. With the biggest and brightest twinkle in my eye I went in his room.. the first time I had EVER been invited into his LAIR I might add.. He played me Tom Sawyer and Spirit of Radio and was quite confused when I sang along with every word… He said “Dad, have you heard them before?”… I said “Dylan, I’m cooler than you think, of course I have”… He was over the moon! Suffice to say, my son and I have had an incredible relationship ever since.. I owe SO SO MUCH to Neil, Geddy and Alex.. RUSH gave me my boy and RUSH gave him his Dad.. Thank You fellas ❤
The absolute best three person band of all time and one of the best bands regardless of size of all time. What these three men accomplished in 40 years is incredible. They defined progrock. They are still as popular as when they toured. Sadly we will never see a reunion, as Neil has passed, but I hope Getty and Lief put together something for their fans in the near future.
Rush was not one individual but the blending of 3 extremely talented and compatible personalities, you cannot take one piece of the picture away, they cease to be Rush!
I am 68 years old and I heard Rush for the first time 3 days ago I am shame on me this band is one of the best what I heard in my live absolutely amazing

Exit Stage Left was my 1st ever concert back when I was in High School. Been a fan ever since then. I was very fortunate to see them several times before the end. Love those 3 guys. ❤ Huge influence in my life. Yes, I’m a girl who loves Rush!!!!

The R40 Live Tour The R40 Live Tour was the final concert tour by Canadian rock band Rush that commemorated the 40th anniversary of drummer Neil Peart joining the band in July 1974. The title hearkens back to Rush's 2004 R30: 30th Anniversary Tour that celebrated the 30th anniversary of the band.
The real truth is that in any and every great and enduring group, it is understood clearly by all that there is no most important member. It is simply the sum total of the coming together of friends and equals. Every member of rush were capable and willing to work with this concept. We all gained from the results.
I feel blessed to have been able to see them in my youth and eventually, to take my own children to see them up through 2015 on their last tour and show at MSG in NYC. I still have my "double album cassette" of Rush (first album) and Fly By Night. I was hooked at that point.
I've been a huge Rush fan since the '70s. I seen them in 1976 or 7 in Nanaimo. I was 15 or 16 and it was unbelievable. Telly hole was the nicest hotel and they rented the floor above us and we stayed right below them. And of course we had a ton of people there and they had a huge party. We couldn't go up there or anything but some people knocked on the door from up. There wasn't anybody from Rush and they said if we could handle some overflow and they filled our bathtub with ice and beer all night long. It was one of my best nights as a teenager
My first intro to Rush was 1978 listening live on a Friday night on my upstate NY radio as they played the Montreal Forum. Have to thank my neighbor Erik for introducing me. Have seen them 10+ times since then. No question my greatest musical influence. I read a comment on a Rush video that said something like "Rush might not be your favorite band, but they're your favorite band's favorite band" and that pretty much sums it up.
Brazilians are amazing! I love that Portuguese speaking people sing every word to every song and if the song doesn't have lyrics they still sing. Brazil is beautiful!
Swifty here my first show was fly by night all the way to there last concert and we watched them tear down the stage because we new that was our last show
Among so many uniquely great pieces of Rush music in the video, the 75 second interlude by Rush during "Freewill" ranks as one of the finest pieces of synchronous music extant in the rock canon. "Xanadu" is truly a Tour de Force and all-time classic.
i have been a Rush fan for over 30 years , seen them live 6 times , always put on an awesome show .. Insanely talented , legendary songs , incredible lyrics ... Even you current stars today are Rush fans ... there is RUSH and then there is everybody else
i do adore that S&A freewill just for the fact that geddy's like "yeah i'm gonna consistently dodge the high A in the chorus but i'm also gonna consistently hit the much higher F in the bridge just to shut you all up"
How is it even possible for three guys with all this Talent able to meet at the right time and produce all of this wonderful music for all of these years what a wonderful place Earth is when the right people join together hats off to rush for being the greatest band in the world
I've often wondered that myself. All Canadians, all really close in age, and all friggin masters at their instruments. But most importantly - all with the amazing attitude to allow each other's input to be what it was without argument or attitude. As they grew in individual talent, they grew in the bands talent- and it was always "one for all and all for one"
I saw the Signals tour as well but in December of 1982. It was my first Rush concert & I have been lucky enough to have seen them 16 times live on 14 different tours!! Thanks for putting this video together and sharing it! I was 16 in 1982, it wasn't my first concert but it was my first Rush concert and the first really awesome concert I had seen. I saw a drunken Aerosmith who really sucked a few months before seeing Rush & it really showed how amazing Rush is live for only 3 guys and they respected their audience/fans enough to not get wasted the way lame Aerosmith did for years. I have seen a massive amount of bands/artists live over the years but Rush was always the best & my favorite band both in the studio & in concert.
Cara, eu nunca esqueci a primeira vez que ouvi rush, isso foi em 2017, um amigo compartilhou um video da musica Anthem, cara, quando ouvi aquele solo nunca mais minha vida foi a mesma

Saw them every time they came to England from Farewell to Kings to Clockwork Angels. They've left a big musical hole in my life, especially the passing of numero uno Neil.
I’m not saying you would win, but an argument “could” be made that these three individuals were, at any given moment, the best live player of their respective instruments.

Wow , I must be really old now. I vividly remember seeing them in Bristol, in the Uk in 1979 on the Hemispheres tour. An amazing night, and saw them again in the UK on the Roll the bones tour in 1992!
Steven bodenner I like this guys opunion, I am a drummer too and have played drums since 5th grade with the grade school band and kept going alot of sheet music I had struggled with and I refused to ever stop playing regardless because I wanted to be able to get in Neil's mind and eyes looking out , but learning the first two music books red and blue books really helped me understand a lot of my rudements and the names of most rudements and how so crucial it is to know these tools given and I today still depend fully on these tools to be read and played I band grade school and al through the years I've practiced these students to this day forward, it's like speaking a whole different language again and rush was always my permanently and favorite band too because what the person said and commented and I fully agree and Alex he too plays a total different way that I have never heard before finest and very incredible I saw my first concert when I was really really young I was twelve years old and knew all their fist four albums and the very first live album that was titled all the worlds a stage touring on this live sound and mix , and touring on the fare well to kings and i today still remeber that concert and played my favorite song called cigness x-1 and still got to see and hear the full live album still being played out finnishing in order just like the first live album and had it so memorized from what i knew for fact every song that was played on the live album , and still all the songs were in order too as they recorded the live album and they played a few fair well to kings album and this will ever will never be for gotton and thise first five albums were absu lutely no freaken joke they were always ahead of their times that nobody i listened to was never anything like them being a 3 man band and could move mountains with geddys total remarkable playing bass and singing and playing keys key boards too with peddles down below him pushing the poeddles too on open notes same time , I have never seen anything ever like them and still today , even after Neil's death , still today I still havent heard any bands do what they do or have done , nobody can create this i cant find the words to exsplain them thats a three man band that played their stough like other one or two musicians have been in the band of theis and they put alot of power of sound that not even zz top couldnt top that, no affence people but rush was one hell of a band for three guys to sound like other people were in their band and again these three guys after Rusty first original drummer and Neil came in to be with the two members originally , and when I heard Neil playdrums and wrote the lyrics for rush ever since Rusty left rush , i told myself thats it, these could ever mess up playing in rhythm or anything three guys that was a huge powerful pounding unit that will never make mistakes olaying onstage of thousands of people and never I have ever heard no mestakes ever during making fare well to the kings , i thought when i was a child i will never be able to ever play drums ever like him ever, his persise drumming sounded like a programed computer was doing it all because of all his killer fine accenting on his high hat and snair drum playing was like there there was no drummer and replaced jjohn Rusty for a high tech computer doin all the un believable drum fills that i have never heard and never could understand how they where bigger then life and well far beyound ever there time like they would of been way ahead of time like three decades and rush having neil made the other two members of the band way exstream way way better musicians, eush was always one hell of a pounding machine , a band that was also one heavy seriose pounding unit that you couldnt touch them because of the way they always played , and Getty you couldnt touch his singing or bass playing, still to this day still foward i still beleive this today , i felt the band yes was the only thing that could get close them and chriss squire to me is the only one and closest to play like criss squire on bsss but yes was already out there way ten to some years out there way before rush , criss squire is now dead passed i got to see him some years before his passing , and my god you would think they grew up together and same town too , , that's all no more talking im outta detail thoughts , im outta here guys, later, and the drummer before me here , never ever stop playing your drums, im 61 years old now and when I play i totally still thought i am a kid still in high school , Alex and Getty my words to you enjoy your awesome retirement and enjoy the rest of your two lives, we all will always love you guys and I will still brage about you guys , no I'm just kidding your fine hard work will always tell the truth because you guys to me are still still bad ass and we will never forget you guys , good bye and God bless all of you, bye.
Has a huge RUSH fan, this is positively the best compilation of son gs I have yet to hear! Great job and a great tribute. At first in the 70s I hated this band. After EXIT Stage Left was released, I was hooked. Saw them five times. The lat time 2015 was thebest. DO get the new autobiography by Geddy Lee. Amazing how they never took music lessons. I am an experience guitar player, but this music is a real challenge! Great Blake.
Thank you so much for the watch and the positive feedback! I do have Geddy’s memoir but I have yet to fully get through it. I know whenever I do it will be amazing. I wish I could’ve seen them live in concert, unfortunately before my time. I have 3 more of these compilations if you ever get a chance to check them out. Thanks again!
You have beautifully chronicled every tour that I have seen except Time Machine and clockwork Angels. Thank the priest that I was able to catch our 40. My broter and I are beautifully grateful to your posting
So very happy to have been alive when this band hit the big time. 2112 was a life changing moment for me and I got to experience some of the greatest music ever made! Alex and Neil and Geddy. True Legends! Justin who?

Nive compilation ! The last shows r30 at radio city were spectacular. I saw r30 at different venues all really rocked but yhe crowd at nyc mid august 2004 was crazy fun. Only 5k in attrndance. Al and geddy stood so close to fans and hands were inches away to him! On purpose ! I went both nights. I went completely mental. Then on fire 🔥 at vegas shows at MGM therr had most fun with fans. First time geddy spotted me from then on it was giggles. I scored a dryer shirt after many trues alex tossed me one. In Tampa he tried but tall guys like hyenas on a zebra 😅 i did not stand a chance. Then alex tossed one in concord and ut was a perfect toss but a handicapped guy caught. Everyone everything every show special. Me and a friend were comped in san Diego s n a. That was a roll the bones night. 🎲
Saw them for the first time TWICE in 1981 during the Moving Pictures tour. Saw them regularly ever since. This is what the phrase "Uncompromising entertainment" was invented for.
These three guys are the most intelligent musicians that have ever lived in my opinion. I LOVE THE RUSH THEY SUPPLY!!top 2 greatest bands of all time. Second only to Led zeppelin. Omo . Gettys voice is incredible.
Last year at the Masonic in SF Peter stayed in the front of the crowd- unless I'm mistaken - as the rest went to take a break, doing Q& As & perfectly relaxed for about 3 hours total. The second Song has been Lyin' for a long time now & it's a strong one from the 'Premonition'('86) Lp & it was a strong start/early point to get Shows going. I'm very glad he & Marriott were able to get it together again even if it was just for 4(±) finished Songs- two of them are on Shine On as I recall.
Take all the factors into consideration and what else can you say but best band EVER. Local boys to me too, which is awesome. Would have loved to see Double Agent (Counterparts) in this mix.
Funny you mention double agents, I have a full series of videos just like this. The second video unfortunately got copyright claimed recently so I have to go back and re edit it. To make up for that I decided to add some other songs to that original video, and that happens to be one of them (the others are cold fire and hemispheres prelude on the counterparts tour and virtuality from test for echo tour). So keep your eyes peeled for whenever I can post that 👀 (probably next Monday or Tuesday)

Thank you so much for putting this video on ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
That Rio show was just amazeballs
These three are my favorite in 2024 . Best drum guitar bass ever 💓💓💓Canadian Beauty
Xanadu from the 1981's performance is breath taking.
Rush memang keren.
By far, one of the best Rush compilations. I'm a drummer, and Alex is my favourite😊.
Thanks for the kind words!
Greatest band ever.. Long Live Rush !!!
RUSH Is The Best Rock And Roll And Melo Music I Love To Tell You Three 3 You Do Such AA Good Job In Your Music, That I Wouldn't Change A Thing About It A Big Thank YOU

Nice playlist, thanks for picking the R40 version of working man from Toronto and not the final concert in LA, knowing that would be the last time we ever saw Neil perform always crushes me. 😊
Yeah, thinking about the end of it all is tough. I was just always going with the best quality videos I could. Glad you enjoyed!
❤vinikaji kapela ktera me libi od samyho zacatku
Saw them every time they came to England from Farewell to Kings to Clockwork Angels. They've left a big musical hole in my life, especially the passing of numero uno Neil.
Rush is my all-time favorite band
The radio doesn't play this
I’m not saying you would win, but an argument “could” be made that these three individuals were, at any given moment, the best live player of their respective instruments.
Honestly it’s an argument I could buy 😂
No doubt !!!! 😁👍
Pick 3 others and I'll take these philosophical music masters anyday
Oh I love Rush weather music great classic rock and it takes me back in time when my life was simple and my body did not have a dimple and I love the name of this classic rock band Rush we party to their music at Parker. Hill✌️🎵🎸🎸🎸🎶🎵🎵🎵🎶🎸
I also saw the moving pictures tour and Rush 30th anniversary tour at Jones beach L I awesome .I'll always remember n love Rush long live Rush forever.
My Best Band Forever. MBBF. Rush is the greatest.
Sometimes it's the Rush Nerd you need, not the one you want, who delivers. Great video. And through cheap headphones, it sounds good so far.
Thanks for watching, glad I can be the Rush Nerd who delivers 😂
Great set too.. This say's 3rd hour. I'm off to find the 1st two.
@@tanker335 I’ve actually got 6 of these, all on a playlist on my TH-cam page!
@@blakeandotherstuff I'm on it. Just watched Losing It. Rush is my band but I like a wide variety of music. Do you have any other bands you might make a playlist of? Do you take suggestions?
@@tanker335 I unfortunately can’t really make anymore of these. I love a lot of other bands but Rush is the only one that I have extensive knowledge of their live history. Plus I just made these in my radio tv class on down days which I won’t have many more of 😂
THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS❤!!!👍🙏👏👏👏✌️🔥🔥
Well done! Love live RUSH!
Really incrediable video! Great Job!
Wow , I must be really old now. I vividly remember seeing them in Bristol, in the Uk in 1979 on the Hemispheres tour. An amazing night, and saw them again in the UK on the Roll the bones tour in 1992!
That is amazing to hear. I wish I could’ve gone to a Rush show, I’m sure they were amazing in person
@@blakeandotherstuff very!
Thank you for letting me have this experience @!😂❤
Well done Blake, thanks.
Thank You for the show Blake..
Saw Rush at NYC the palidum the permanent waves tour Best concer I ever saw in my life .
UNFASSBAR ! Wie auf der Platte ! Wahre Meister !
INCREDIBLE ! Like on the record ! True masters !
YES, Well said!!
Je ne m'en lasse pas, extrêmement EXCELLENT !! 😊 ❤...
Entre Nous is one of the most beautifully sung tunes in the whole damned catalog.
Neil wrote several books too…I bought them for my drummer husband. Traveling Music and Ghost Rider both excellent ❤
Thanks for sharing
You have beautifully chronicled every tour that I have seen except Time Machine and clockwork Angels. Thank the priest that I was able to catch our 40. My broter and I are beautifully grateful to your posting
So very happy to have been alive when this band hit the big time. 2112 was a life changing moment for me and I got to experience some of the greatest music ever made! Alex and Neil and Geddy. True Legends! Justin who?

*Indulge!! 😎
Fabulous!
❤ gracias
Great video
Thank you
Saw them for the first time TWICE in 1981 during the Moving Pictures tour. Saw them regularly ever since. This is what the phrase "Uncompromising entertainment" was invented for.
That is amazing, no better tour to see first than the moving pictures tour!
These three guys are the most intelligent musicians that have ever lived in my opinion. I LOVE THE RUSH THEY SUPPLY!!top 2 greatest bands of all time. Second only to Led zeppelin.
Omo . Gettys voice is incredible.
RUSH made fans. The fans made RUSH. Glad they chose the path they did. TILL NEXT TIME BUDZ...
Best version of Xanadu Ive heard(1981)
Easily one of the best live performances of any song in rock history
My favorite version of my favorite Rush song. Combine it with Broon’s Bane & The Trees and you have Rush nirvana
14:35 so killer😮
someone went crazy with that Tom Sawyer synth effect during Roll the Bones. I never noticed it before.
Exit stage left would have covered this. Best live album ever. Just perfection
Love the creature SFX in The Trees 😀
dang, what a great band. sigh.thanks for this.
My very first concert was 6 bands.rush was one of those.at the time I was 12 years old.ive been moved by rush ever since 21:01
exelente banda
