    The more Q&A’s I do with students, the more the arguments from the leftist begin to sound the same. Here are a couple of questions about systemic racism and policing that I took from students during my recent visit to Washington University in St. Louis. What do you guys think about these exchanges? I’m a black man and I can’t speak for my community but from what I seen within the community is we never want to have the hard discussions about getting our own shit together. We constantly blame someone else, we constantly kill each other, hate on each other, embrace negative culture, and we never take responsibility so it never changes

    I teach in a mostly African American school and the differences between behaviors is shocking. My African American students have an unbelievable sense of entitlement. They cheat at rates much higher than other groups and have such a problem with authority that listening to instruction and doing work seems beneath them. When admonished, many of them claimed it was black history month so they're above reproach. One girl demanded to copy another student's work because she was black and her work was reparations. When I removed students from the classroom for arguing, took away their cell phones, or called them out on cheating, they called me racist and wanted to stage a walkout. These are not innate behaviors. These are learned behaviors. It is a massive problem

      My daughters went to a middle school where they were 2 of the 5 white kids one year. Did not bother me in the least, but it apparently does a lot of other people. Both of my girls were bullied and my younger daughter jumped at one point. The girl who attacked her got to go home for the day and my daughter got in school suspension. When I confronted the principal, she told me that everyone said my daughter never even got a chance to fight back because she was jumped from behind, but this was supposedly for her protection. That was the last straw and I reached out to our superintendent and state superintendent.

      Problems with "authority" is as American as apple pie. All American students should walkout of every government classroom across America because government schooling is a form of child abuse.
      Government schools had a major hand in creating these problems, but those working in the system never want to take the blame for what they've participated in helping create. As you are a government teacher, you will not get any sympathy from me. Only disdain.

    As an Asian American, our parents taught us that to live off the government or someone else is shameful. We were pushed at a very young age to get our education, study hard and be a good person so that we would have a successful easier life. Again we are taught that we should not bring shame to ourselves and our families! Hard work pays off, trying to live off the system is looked down upon as being lazy. This of course if you, yourself have no physical or mental issues. My brother falls in the latter, we as a family take care of him not the government, as we have the means. If others don’t then that is what those assistance programs are for!!! They are the only ones who should have those benefits, not healthy young individuals.

      I agree that the thought process of living off government largess which is being taken from the largely from the professional classes like doctors, lawyers, engineers and others and not by the likes of Bill Gates or Warren Buffett who can figure out when they want to take income and how much with a 1099 rather than as professional schmuks who only get a W-2 and have to pay 52% of our income in taxes.
      In my personal opinion living off of anyone else either through direct or indirect loans or gifts is shameful to me. I’ve only borrowed a limited amount of money from my mother back in my early 20s living in poverty in the Lower East side of New York City, as I’m sure my $40 a week paycheque well in an internship program was hardly enough to cover my $300 a month rent payment not to mention taking the subway etc. I had to take out a roommate to afford living in one of the worst neighbourhoods in Manhattan and at one point almost paid for that luxury with my life. I paid my mother back in spades mowing the lawn every couple of weeks and changing the storm windows to screens and back every six months from the time I was about six years old until well into my 20’s. No complaints and no regrets. I appreciated having the opportunity to be able to one time borrow from my mother but then of course my father who left before I was born because I was hounding me to loan him money which of course would never of gotten paid back because that’s how he lived. I don’t know how I managed to elude his mentality of living off the hard work of others but I did.
      Unfortunately, liberal America has taught those in supposedly oppressed communities, largely speaking of native born black Americans that they are victims, oppressed and entitled and therefore bellying up to the government trough for welfare payments, child support, food stamps and other freebies is a birthright. No wonder they get angry when we threaten to take it away!
      I don’t think I’m racist in general though I think all of us have the capacity to be racist under various circumstances but seriously some of the most unmotivated and unproductive people I know are black and also some of the most thin-skinned and racist people I know are black and I don’t blame that entirely on them, I blame much of that on progressive white society that has taught them those values for at least the past 60 years. With the relatively young age of reproduction in inner-city Black communities compared to most other communities, we’re talking about a generation every 15 to 20 years!

    Amala, I completely agree : it has to do with culture. I also grew up very poor (in Europe) and my mum was a widow at age 29, immigrant, working class. We had no money for anything extra but we went to the library, read plenty of books, watched movies, opera online, played chess with her, made art during the weekends, I learned 5 languages by the age of 19. And funny enough, I’m white and experienced discrimination from Muslims every week since I grew up in Marseille (France) where the immigration rate from North Africa is hectic.
    Today I’m an architect with a phd. (The truth is that studies in france are free, otherwise it might have been harder)
    This is all thanks to my wonderful mother, who values knowledge and work, art and beauty in life. She has been such a great example to me and I’m so proud of her, she is now 62, she’s a world renown artist and her success is one of my greatest joy!

      @Sam Moseley the fact he said "bills that say don't say gay" is the obvious one here.
      Considering it's a blatant, outright fabrication.
      The entire "don't say gay" debacle was one of the weirdest times if recent memory for me. When I would watch thousands of people take to the internet and streets, loudly declaring their opposition to a bill that they claimed said something it never said, included something it didn't include, and did something it didn't do.
      And the fact that Bill was a scant 7 - 8 pages long and so easy a 6th grader could read it, made it all the worse.
      We live in an age where the entire summation of human knowledge is in our pockets, I know that usually ends with the punchline "and we use it to look at cats and get mad at strangers". But the fact it was _that easy_ to disprove the "don't say gay" insanity with a quick internet search and 10 minutes of light reading, but people outright refused to, is harrowing in the extreme to anyone with a sense of reason.
      All it took, was for a few mouth pieces to repeat an easy to repeat PR style phrase, and suddenly it created a ripple effect across society. You had people willing to come to blows over the subject. Saying the most vicious things about something they thought they _knew_ to be true. So sure that they displayed hatred and vitriol for all the world to see, and _they couldn't have been more wrong_
      Even now, that a college student, someone meant to be an educated adult in an institution of higher learning, would repeat something so false is absurd.

My mom’s friend was shot in front of our mail box minding her own business. This shooting, nor the crimes me and my homies committed, would have ever happened if the Cops were around. Now that I’m old with kids, there is no way on earth that I want to see less police and some person walking around with a shirt that says “neighborhood patrol” without a gun. The gangsters would just shoot that person when they would try to intervene into their business. The only one who wants less cops are people who never lived in the hood or who are criminals like I was. Dumb students are trying to find some stupid cause to stand for in relation to something they know nothing about!!!! Now the leftist claim is that focusing on neighborhoods that are predominantly black (with higher crime rates) is causing the higher rate of crime in the black community. I suspect, though, if the level of policing in minority communities were reduced, you would once again claim racism.
      Making the issue of police misconduct all about racism means you will never see improvement. The problem is abuse of power and disregarding the law by those entrusted to defend it. If you want progress on this front push for mandatory body cams that can't be turned of by just the LEO, ending the drug war and legalizing prostitution, getting rid of police unions and qulified immunity (while making the tort system loser pays), eliminating no-knock warrants, reversing the militarization of police forces, and harsher sentencing guidlines for violent crimes. You can't really blame them because their role models are their parents who are too lazy to go work. I fully support families where the parents are unable to due to disability but these are few and far between. Even then, having a disability should not stop you from bettering your life. Neighborhoods are being over policed he says... I lived in Saint Louis for 24 years before moving out of the city. The reason the neighborhoods are being "over policed" because crime is through the roof and now police officers are not taking proactive roles because if they do the prosecutor's attorneys won't prosecute and the criminal will be back out on the street by that afternoon. So if this guy wants even LESS police officers don't complain about people getting killed and robbed in the streets. And what is he talking about they're being too many cops? In this current age of the internet, few people don’t have the opportunity to realize what resources are available and what child will be turned away from help when they want to succeed in school? My neighbor’s are black with 3 generations of college degrees and no arrests in the family. I have watched their youngest son and take him to various activities and see the side glances as well as the overt rude questions addressed to me as a white woman, so accept that life was not without difficulty for them. One can focus on the negatives and wallow in self pity or decide to focus on your future and decide what you want out of life. Choices abound.

    I don’t identify as conservative, more independent, but it’s sad that we can’t have calm discussions about these things. I think it’s really important to be able to discuss opinions without devolving into yelling and “we can fight later”. As far as policing, I think a lot of value could be found in vetting aspiring police officers further and raising the level of education for them so their training is longer than 23 weeks. That might even call for a funding increase, because the current salary for police doesn’t encourage the standard we wish for.

    • @consciousobserver629
      @consciousobserver629 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree. Cops working in these mini war zones are on edge because the threat of violence is very real. But even in other areas of the country where violent crime is much lower, policing standards are low. Thousands of videos of aggressive cops that don't know our constitutional rights, escalate with the person they encounter just to then insist someone is resisting (when they are usually just defending themselves or asking basic, lawful questions), and then they lie through their teeth. So many PDs need to be purged and re-staffed, properly trained, and the focus needs to be on protecting the community and dealing with real crime. As it stands they are incentivized to fine people over petty or even made up things for revenue. I don't know how that works out monetarily, but we need a serious shift in training, staffing, and focus on the job. Also, if a cop breaks the law they should be charged just like anyone else would be.

    • @KG-th3cr
      @KG-th3cr ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Agreed about raising the level of training for officers but you have to understand that the need for officers is very high especially in high crime areas. You can't train an officer for a year when you need them on the street in 3 months. Besides the fact that the need is even greater than it was 10 years ago because of how police have been vilified by the left for the last 5 or 6 years. This makes it even harder to retain officers and to hire new ones.

    • @Chrono-Synclastic-Infundibulum

Everyday somebody is caught on camera breaking into homes and looking into cars for valuables. I had family and friends who did this dumb shit in their youth and almost all of them had no father in the home. Six the goddess said it best. These people are in fear of the youth and the juveniles cause it's the adults that have to worry about having someone's kid holding a gun to their head. Fentanyl is getting closer to my town, these kids are always out causing trouble, people who bust their ass at work to obtain what they have just for some little thief to feel entitled to take for themselves... that's the crap our communities have to deal with. These students are talking from a place of privilege and if they made any attempt to understand the culture rather than relying on Google articles for all their information, they would see why things are the way they are, aside from race.

      Statistics (while the data is usually true) can also be manipulated to fit a narrative depending on what narrative you want to present to people. I didn't grow up in a black/latino neighborhood, but I did experience going to a middle school that was predominately that. It's sad witnessing what a lot of these kids have to go through, having overworked absent mothers and no father. Many of them also act out as a cry for help for some adult to pay attention to them. I cannot entirely speak for these communities, but this is just what I've observed. In my opinion, to order to solve these problems we definitely need to acknowledge the role that culture plays in shaping these kids.
