    Tip for anyone wanting to do a similar question such as the one at 11:55 faster is:
    You know the two rides they will be going on are Giant Wheel + Thrill rides
    So simply add 6+9.50 together = 15.50
    434/ 15.50 = 28

    GUYS TAKE NOTE. Some test centres have computers with a number pad (to the bottom right of the keyboard). This is MUCH faster than using a mouse to click on the calculator. Check with your test centre and use one with a keyboard. This gives a huge advantage.

    At 18:35 , I think this question for me signifies the importance of really understanding the information you're given. At the top of the screen it states the data shown is for the first half of the year. Given that it is told the second half of the year, sales reduce by approx 20%, you can times the specified values from the data by 0.8 to get your values for the second half of the year. Dingbot's new value is 282.4 and Jard's new value is 57697.6, giving you a difference of 57,415~

    Using the calculator is slow so do mental maths where possible
    Skip difficult questions and flag to do at the end
    You need to know basics algebra, ratios, percentages, averages etc.
    Also, he was doing a question with the calculator at 18:10 where he could have rounded the values and done it in his head to be faster while still getting an answer close to the right answer

    For people searching,
    it's C = 57,415
    because D & J's hatchbacks' sold in the second half of the year are 20% less than the first half of the year
    thus, we should conclude that D & J's hatchbacks in the second half of the year are 80% of the first half of the year hatchbacks sold
    So, D= 0.8 x 353 = 282.4
    J= 0.8x 72122 = 57,698
    How many more did Jared sell than Dingbot means subtract J's selling from D's
    57,698- 282.4 = 57,415

      Practice
      Next time you have a calculation to do that you want to use the calculator for stop yourself from pressing the calculator button and force yourself to do it in your head. That way you can get yourself to improve your mental maths. Obviously only do this for calculation that can be done in your head and would be faster to do than if you used a calculator. e.g. 42 + 29 (do in your head) as opposed to 112/19 (use a calculator).

    Question 1 was very *low*. You might say that a trick like that was *beneath* them. It may not a*mount* to much, but it's still the *peak* of frustration.
    Jokes aside, you can save time on "calculate the mean" questions. Add a few numbers together and enter the sum of them into the calculator to save time. e.g. the first numbers are 59, 49, 88, 22. I would, in my head, add 88 and 22 to get 110, + 49 = 159. Then I would enter into the calculator 59 + 159 since thats a bit of an awkward calculation to do in your head under pressure, and like that you skip having to painstakingly add two numbers into the calculator. Then I would add 56 to that in the calculator, then the next 4 numbers are 48, 49, 62, 70 so add the 48, 62 together in your head (110), then add 70 (180) then 49 (229) then just put "+ 229" into the calculator. Combining mental arithemtic with the clunky computer calculator in that way can save time, if you scan for simple calculations.

    • @KharmaMedic
      @KharmaMedic  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yo Raze! Take a deep breath one thing at a time.
      I'm not sure about the work experience for dentistry, there's plenty of websites where you can research and find out (the student room etc..). Make sure you find out exactly what is required. The second thing you definitely need to go ask them! The best way to do it by FAR is over the phone or in person. If you really can't or don't want to you can send them an email. In a few sentences explain who you are, what you are looking for and asking if they can help you.
      Regarding the UKCAT, just keep practicing! Keep doing questions under timed conditions, practice your mental maths, and you got this.
      Keep your head up!

      @@KharmaMedic Thanks for the advice pal btw I am filling an work experience application as I want to apply for doing work experience at dentistry but the hospital says that they don't have a dental department but instead they have an orthodontist department and it said it in one section why do you want to do work experience here ? If it is a medical career please explain why you like want to do and also it has said that the orthodontist department is very strict in who they take and my questions are what should I put in that section to show that I have a passion for dentistry and also is it alright if I talk about dentistry too as well as orthodontist too I would be very obliged if you could aid me in this as I am pretty much stuck at it

      Yes, I think it's C
      because D & J's hatchback's sold in the second half of the year are 20% less than the first half of the year
      thus, we should conclude that D & J's hatchbacks in the second half of the year are 80% of the first- half of the year hatch backs sold
      So, D= 0.8 x 353 = 282.4
      J= 0.8x 72122 = 57,698
      How many more did Jared sell than Dingbot means subtract J's selling from D's
      57,698- 282.4 = 57,415

    Q 23 of 36
    We already know from the information on the table is from the first half of the year. The question is asking us for the second half of the year minus a 20% (or 1/5 if you will) of the sale from HATCHBACKS. Then to find the difference between companies Dingbot and Jard.
    Workings:
    Second half of year sales from Dingbot hatchbacks;
    353 * 0.20
    =70.6
    353 - 70.6
    = 282
    Second half of year sales from Jard hatchbacks;
    72,122 * 0.20
    =14,424
    72,122 - 14,424
    =57,698
    FINAL STEP:
    57,698 - 282.4
    =57,415
    The answer is C.
    Postdata: Please forgive my punctuation and the workings are for those who are interested in how to solve the question. :)
