It’s also just a pretty common cinematic trope to cut to a character’s objective/plans/loved ones/etc. before something sudden and bad happens to said character.
Sheera doesn't understand that the chick is walking towards the park with her friends from school...meanwhile mob was coming from the city after buying flowers. They are in completely different locations. Also, seems like they missed the part where he was saying that lately he's been showing and letting the emotions be more freely. Thus in the act with the kid, if it was the old mob, he would have used he's power to stop the car or move the kid...but as he's emotions are more visible, he didn't rationalize the situation, he moved based on how he felt. This show is epic, I'm mad it's ending.

Seeing all the characters Mob has met and somehow helped in previous episodes and seasons come back to support him in his emotional struggles here is such a delight to see. I genuinely think you can extract several life lessons out of this episode, and this show in general, that will send you on a path to becoming a better person. The fact that this isn't even the only well-done self-improvement story this season alone, let alone this year of anime, fills me with so much joy that it's almost indescribable

@@khaledm.1476 I don't know if I'd call these self-improvement but so far Do It Yourself is all about learning handiwork and how to build stuff and Paripi Koumei was all about Eiko improving her confidence in herself and her songs more or less. But definitely like the other guy said Bocchi The Rock, it's by far the best show that's aired this year for me and it does it so effortlessly it almost feels unreal how good it is ^^

Mob Psycho feels like its written to be sort of a guide to growing up, a lot of episodes end with sweet little lessons about treating others well, and generally being a good person. I like how common character tropes get flipped a lot(ie. the "jocks" of the body improvement club being super wholesome guys who practice pacifism) and how all the "bad guys" usually end up learning from Mob and either going on with their lives in a more productive way like the flower dude, or becoming a core part of Mob's friend group like Teru. One is a fantastic writer, can't wait to see how this story ends
Also, I'm genuinely fascinated by the twist at the end, the reason being that over the course of this show we've seen Mob wanting to not rely on his powers the entire time because of Tsubomi, and now - in the moment where he'd most need them - he, for some reason, even be it just sheer force of habit, decides to NOT use them and save the kid by actively stepping in front of the car. We all know he's gonna be fine after this, let's be honest here, but I still think this was a genuinely amazing moment
Don't forget that Mob does not use to show off his psychic powers, that's what Dimple praised him for, because he doesn't rely on his powers that much, and therefore at the last minute he just decided to jump in front of the truck
That shot of the girls walking is just meant to be Mob's last enduring thought or subconscious desire before the accident. You can tell that the lighting is different and the image has like a dreamy glow because it's an image that exists in his head.
Mob slowed down a car that was already slowing down. If he yanked the cat or the kid with his power he could have hurt them. If he stopped the truck while it was going that fast he would have hurt the driver. Not hurting people with his power is a big part of his character. And a big part of his childhood trauma. It's easy to forget that mobs repression is a result of a time he nearly killed some bullies.

As shocking as that ending was, I'd like to point out that Mob has gotten better at playing sports. He cought the ball, passed it and ran without looking like he's about to pass out. That's a great improvement and a call back to season 1 where he couldn't catch the ball or keep up with his classmates. He did accomplish his goal to be physically fit. Go Mob and I hope he's ok.😃🥳🥺
They asking why Mob didnt pick up the boy and moved him but it happened right as he picked up the bag he was prepared for the cat but not the boy remember it takes time for your body to sendinformation throughout the body and Mob being a kid and all (going through issues with the whole asking her out thing) did the first thing he could do in that split second.
Realize when Mob saves the cat, he drops his bag and uses his hand to use his power. This time, both of his hands are preoccupied, and almost no time reacts in time, and then his instinct takes over. Or he did use his power, but not applied enough to defend himself, which is why that truck has huge damage.
He couldn't use his powers because there's one literally no time to. It takes focus to do so. Compare the scene with the cat and this scene with the boy and see the difference. One moment he's holding his bag, the other not. One moment the truck is really close, the other is not.
When I watched this I was like, he's obviously not dying. But it'll cost him something. His memory or his powers. Given how this show operates, my guess is that he loses his powers and this is his chance at being a normal person with the girl he likes.
