He did do a short 7 chapter spinoff with Reigen that takes place after the end of the series. It only has a guest appearance with Mob since his story was very well closed
As far as Dimple's return is concerned, I agree that it cheapens the sacrifice that he made in episode 6. But I think the explanation they gave for it is a good one. We already established in season 2 with the Dragger that some spirits can get stronger or even come into being when people believe in them or are afraid of them, so it's reasonable to believe that Mob's strong attachment to Dimple would allow him to stay alive. And nothing would ever have created a powerful psychic cyclone like the one that Mob made on his way to Tsubomi, so it makes sense that this particular moment was the catalyst for Dimple being able to barely re-form himself from his scattered remnants that were left in the atmosphere after he carried the broccoli away.
I know what you mean but for me Dimple's return is the only smudge on an otherwise perfect finale. Don't get me wrong, It's still one of the best endings to an anime I have seen so far but I really don't think I'm cherry-picking here.
I also just really like the fact that Dimple was what allowed 'Kageyama Shigeo' to see Reigen. Dimple was the friend that was always honest and saw Shigeo for who he truly was, being the only character who called Mob 'Shigeo'. Everyone in the series has their own name for Mob, and their own relationship. What I truly love about this though is that the psychic powers called itself the true 'Kageyama Shigeo', and reacted with shock and emotion when Dimple appeared. As though it were reacting to Dimple like seeing a long-lost friend, the only character that part of Mob seemed to connect with. The friend that fully respected Shigeo from the start, his powers and all. It made sense and honestly I don't think Reigen would've stood a chance without that bridge.
Funfact that adds more flavor to the Reigen chasing Mob scene: In Japan, there is a sinister custom of people who give up their lives of removing their shoes before the act of self-extermination. This comes from an ancient culture of samurai who said that if they threw away their scabbards after swinging their swords, they were giving up their lives because they didn't expect to sheathe their swords ever again. So, when Reigen removes his shoes before chasing Mob with all his momentum, he is literally deadly serious. He WILL reach his friend and student. He WILL be heard. Or he will die trying.
Top 3 fave episodes: 1. Season 1 episode 11: Reigen being mistaken for claw's boss is the funniest plot progression in shonen ever and a tribute to ONE's writing style of how he uses satire within the realms of a compelling non-comedic story. Completely subverted my expectations. 2. Season 2 episode 7: S2 Episode 1 and 5 was quite close to me but this episode got me feeling reminiscing about days when I used to think I didn't need people, reflecting on the life Reigen lives and how it mirrors the average lonely man only to be saved by Mob's acceptance. 3. Season 3 episode 12: I mean its really hard to ignore this episode when thinking of a top 3. So many genuine emotional conclusions and the heart of the story never beated as loudly as it did than in this episode. Thanks Mob, thanks ONE!
Endings to a series are rarely ever this well executed, Mob Psycho 100 is one of the most perfect endings to a series I have ever witnessed. Shigeo Kageyama is now 100% himself and it is beautiful. This is really just a coming of age story in all reality but it was handled so well, honestly probably the best story of that kind of the 21st century.
One thing, Mob never laughed in his whole life after ritsu accident, during watching the reaction, I was looking for mob laugh but he never did, he always put smile. So ending the episode with mob laugh, is the perfect ending. Since it's a story of mob emotions development.
@@swagtachiuchiha1501 well that's the laugh but thats not mob laughing it's more like it's power taking control over it emotions. It was greed and arrogance feeling of him when he was laughing not genuine happiness like this laugh.
fun fact about the ending scene of mob laughing, the animator/s who worked on it were different than the ones who worked on the rest of the series to give the viewer a completely different perspective of mob than we've seen before to show how much he changed from the start! I love this detail so much😭❤
Mob has been one of the incredible stories that just got better and better as it went on. What an amazing ride it was. It started out as what might have felt like a battle shonen or another parody, but it turned into a brilliant coming of age about accepting yourself. The only regret I have is that the spot of this series isn't taken by Tower Of God. No regrets about Mob.
Thank you for watching this show and putting into words my feelings about it in ur discussion. Agree that Mob when we first met him was emotionally repressed and now look at our boy, he can cry, he can laugh wholeheartedly and was able to express himself with confidence. Also Reigen, despite his flaws has always been a responsible adult and it’s because of him that Mob has grown so much. 😭
When I started watching mob psycho I thought I would drop it mid way cauz of animation style but God damit the story was soo damn good and also the animation just slapped me in the face. What a great show it was
Mob personality was created by Shigeo because he accidentally attack his little brother when he loses control (Season 1), Shigeo suppressed his emotion(he is afraid he would accidentally hurt someone or his family again), that's why he only use his esper ability when his emotion exploded(usually its anger or hate)(the 100% thing). So Shigeo basically accept his power and himself fully
You cant ever imagine how powerful an Anime character laughing can be be4 you watch this episode Just proves how great and GOATED of a writer ONE is!!??
This series is any fan’s wet dream. It was a non mainstrem series that got THREE 12/10 anime seasons. As a fan, nothing could make me happier. Nothing tops that.

It’s kinda crazy when you realize that he started Mob Psycho when he was a teenager but was so wise with the messages and the story. Also, although he said this is the finale of Mob’s story, there is a short spinoff with Reigen.

I feel similarly about Dimple. Maybe if his return was a temporary one instead of sticking around afterwards it'd feel better? But also it's Dimple, he came back after being destroyed twice, the second time Teru used a technique to better ensure his destruction, and he survived the poison jar in an incredibly weakened state. He's a high level spirit who's main shtick has been coming back, so I can't say it's the worst thing in the world that he pulled it off again at the end in time for a happy ending.
