@@michaelmyersplays4992 I mean that was a remake of a game that was less than 10 years old and already had a remaster. Plus they didn’t change anything besides graphics.
It has been very funny seeing the same thing: Motive nailed it. People had low expectations for this, and high for Callisto. Everything I've seen so far, the inverse has happened.
Doesn't make any sense to have low expectations for one of the best games of the time, as a minimum it would be the same as that game with some better graphics, which means at a minimum it would be fantastic. People are so illogical.
I played through the original Dead Space and only vaguely remember specific story/gameplay details, but I remember being really impressed with it at the time and having a blast dismembering and curb stomping aliens. Personally, I'm most likely going to wait for the remake to go on sale before I pick it up, but if this is going to be your first Dead Space experience I could see it being worth the launch price. Great game.
Dead Space 2 doesn't need a remake imo, that game holds up remarkably well. I notice that DS1 remake's many changes include things that DS2 already has. 360 movement in zero Gs, Isaac Clarke having a face and voice, more cinematic, better combat. It'll probably be remade anyway though...
Was rooting for Callisto to be more successful and well made. As good as this surprisingly turned out, can’t help to feel it’s a bad sign that we’re only going to see dozens more of remakes coming at this point.
There’s nothing wrong with remakes though as long as they are done right and faithfully recreated. Remember you aren’t under any pressure to buy them. They are for new players or just for older fans. Would I say no to a Bloodborne remake? Or MGS1? Or Dino Crisis? Etc etc… hell no, but ONLY if it’s done right of course!
It's gotten to the point where if I'm interested in getting a game, I'll check to see if there's a Before You Buy or if SkillUp has covered it. Thanks for being reliable, consistent and honest for all these years, guys!
15 years later, I’m still excited about dead space. I’m a diehard fan and I ended up getting the marker tattooed on my arm. It’s amazing that they remade it but they remade it so well that if anybody who’s never played that space plays it, it’s going to be a fun first ride and a smooth first ride at that.
I've finished dead space 1&2 years ago 5/6 times. I was waiting on the reviews and bought the deluxe edition right away after I saved enough. It's totally worth the price for even a dead space veteran. I'm so happy that Dead space is getting the love and treatment it so much deserves.

It's like going on your favorite trails and a new owner comes in and adds some of their own flair to the beaten path. Something old is something new again.
I can say Dead space is probably the first remake I’ve played where they kept veteran gamers in mind. I loved how the game toys with you, especially if you played the original. Like everything is in place but some small things aren’t and it always catches you off guard. Definitely the best remake of a game I’ve ever played.
Loved this series since all the way back in 2009 (played after initial game launched) and even watched one of the animated movies. My copy of remake comes in today can't wait to dig in this weekend. Awesome review Jake 👍
Looking forward to picking this up day 1. Dead Space was one of my all time favorite games, so I'm glad to hear they did the remake justice. Side note: the walking animation on the guy on the right 7:20 gave me a solid laugh.
I've never played dead space before, but the positive reviews I saw got me intrigued. This review convinced me to buy it. I almost think I will like it even more going in as my first dead space experience.
I'm kinda happy that EA is realizing we still want linear, story driven, single player games. Not everything has to be a investment online only game. So between this and the sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order coming out 2 months from now, it's bittersweet supporting EA, but I'm glad to support GOOD EA project like this.
We’re gonna see ALOT of remakes in the next 5 years. They’re trying to capture the magic from gaming back in the day. It’s hard for newer IPs to do it but I’m excited 🤝🏽
@Worst Case Scenario It hasn't passed, it's just moved to VR. VR is the future. Even just playing modded flatscreen games in VR is such a game changer.
Of all the games that are gonna be coming out soon, this was easily the one I was most hyped for. I'm so glad they nailed it! The Callisto Protocol & Forspoken launches had me worried as it seems like no AAA company is competent enough to push out a working game anymore...
You had problems with Callisto protocol? Hm, it went smoothly for me. I mean, I didn’t like it much but I didn’t see many bugs either. I was on ps5 though.
Oddly enough, my buddy introduced me to 2 in like 2012 or 13 so I started with it. When I played the original a year or 2 later I never even finished it so I'm pretty excited to play this version essentially for the first time.
This game always has a special place in my heart. It was when my brother and I were both done with university and were living together. It was a fun year and a half as we would go shop for second hand games often. The original dead space was one we picked up from the bargain bin and didn't really have high expectations. We went in completely oblivious and just loved the game as soon as we played through the first few minutes. I'm glad they came out with a remake of the original and updated it. Looks like more fond memories to be made with this new/old game!
Dead Space 3 was the last game my ma bought me before she passed. Safe to say I’m glad they remade it better and they didn’t screw it up. Looking forward to getting this 💪
My initial introduction into dead space was the anime that released forever ago, not long after played the first game and was blown away. I was disappointed with how it initially ended so hopefully there’s a redemption arc for the series as a whole down the line
I am so excited for this game. I'm gonna replay the whole series since it's all on Gamepass. I already bought and pre-downloaded the remake on my XSX. As soon as I get off work I'm going straight to Gamestop to pick it up and play it immediately. It's gonna be awesome to go back and play these games man I'm so excited dude 😊
@@whydoihavesubs6644 Awesome. The remake is very, very good. They added things, and changed certain things as well and it makes it way better than the original. I finished it so now I'm currently playing the second one. I highly recommend getting the remake. THIS is what remakes should be. No messing with the original mechanics or atmosphere. FF7 failed in those aspects and to me was a massive disappointment. Hopefully this remake is successful and forces other companies considering remakes to change what their assumptions of what a modern remake should be.
The remake is on GamePass now. I had just gone through the original 3 games for the first time, and I still feel like the remake seems like a brand new game. Obviously it’s the same maps but wow this is everything a remake/remaster should be.
Must buy after this review. Jake seems truly excited for this in a way that he normally isn’t…..and his ‘normal’ reviews are always great. Buying now - hopefully it runs well on Xbox as I think I want to chill on my couch and play this one….👍👍
One thing I've noticed between this and the original is that in the original, Isaac was unable to look to his right. It was probably just a bug or something, but I always saw it as subtle foreshadowing towards the ending of the game. That's not present in the remake, sadly leaning into it just being a bug or something
Thanks Jake! Great overview! I loved the first two and enjoyed the third, but never finished it. Really happy to hear they added more content and those environments look awesome. Especially the foggy area towards the end of your vid. Also really cool that they gave Issac an actual personality and voice now.
I am pleasantly surprised by how good this remake looks! Remakes often fall short, in my opinion, but Dead Space looks like everything I want a remake to be. I would be super excited if they were to add multiplayer to the remake, but I can recognise that such a thing might not work with the original story and gameplay.
Hell yeah, I’m glad everyone is liking this game as well! I was going in being extremely critical. Dead space OG is on my top 5. This game did an amazing job. I was 100% sold in like 30 minutes. The force gun thooooo

I didn’t hear anything in this review about the terrible graphics?! Is this a bug only some of us are experiencing. The graphics are blurry and blocky and terrible!! Like PS2 graphics or something. You said “it’s got incredibly shiny graphics”. Well, not so much. Playing on PS5. Assuming you didn’t try it on consoles?
Never played Dead Space until now. I just ordered the PS5 remake due to your review (and also because of the Black Friday Price of 34 euro). Can't wait to play it.
With the absolute success of this remake, i dont see how they dont remake dead space 2. 3 on the other hand i can see not being touched, but i can see 2 being remade which would be nice. Ive already done my 1st full playthrough with all quest done, and have started on my new game+ impossible mode. Gotta get those achievements and alternate ending. Been hell of a ride so far.
The video was encouraging, and the comments are too. I played the original a year or two after it came out, but I got busy with life and never finished it. I think I'll have to get this. The graphics should be great on my PS5. Thank you Jake! I love your reviews, they are my go to for deciding what games I want to buy!
The hud elements like things U pick up etc they aren't decent resolution. Feels more like a remaster than a remake because of this. I just don't think the monsters look very good either, seems quite low quality. Playing it free on Eaplay and it's nice to play it I was just hoping it would be fully updated with the times. Playing Alan wake 2 at the same time and the difference between the 2 in quality is huge! Still, it's nice to have dead space back.

@@drewmcdonald1077 bro the reviews I seen was HORRIBLE they said it repetitive clunky dodging and fighting moves getting jumped by the enemies just a dead space clone
reviews made the Callisto Protocol sound way worse then what it was, borrow from someone and you will see for yourself what I mean
Glad to see the original can save it when the inspiration fails
@@fredpee7173 yes there were reviews saying that but don't listen to every review there were alot pay to bash it and give it bad reviews. I stay with reviewers that give honest reviews and they were giving awesome reviews saying Josh the actor did a awesome job playing his char in the game. Sadly we live in a world where Trump supporters like bashing and telling people to boycott games because of wokeness.
The nostalgia is on an all time high, LOVED this game when it first came out
I really do appreciate this channel and how accurate the takes on games are here. It's as if I previewed the game myself. Since I've been coming to this channel, I've never been let down. I'm sure I've saved quite a bit of money as well. I can't say it enough, thanks for all you guys do.
A Triple A game remake that releases finished, functional, and true to the original? I am so excited to play this!
Demon's Souls set a super high standard, and it looks like this lives up to it.
Yet last of us remake got bashed lol 😂
@@michaelmyersplays4992 I mean that was a remake of a game that was less than 10 years old and already had a remaster. Plus they didn’t change anything besides graphics.
@@michaelmyersplays4992 because it was unnecessary. That graphical update and other editions could've been a free update.
@@n1vrame this could of been a free update as well and to charge you 70 dollars for a remake is crazy
It has been very funny seeing the same thing: Motive nailed it. People had low expectations for this, and high for Callisto. Everything I've seen so far, the inverse has happened.
It makes sense for people to have low expectations with EA but it sounds like they nailed it.
Doesn't make any sense to have low expectations for one of the best games of the time, as a minimum it would be the same as that game with some better graphics, which means at a minimum it would be fantastic. People are so illogical.
I wasn't really surprised that people had low expectations just because of EA. Funny how Callisto ended up not being good
I had high expectations for the remake and it looks like it paid off.
Because the trend is to hate EA, however I have been playing EA games since the old MS-DOS computers in early 90s I cannot hate them.
Great game.
Indeed 💯👌🏼
My guy on the far right at 7:18 shows how excited he is at going back inside that ship.
God, I love this channel. Thank you crew for the content!
Glad you enjoy it!
Was rooting for Callisto to be more successful and well made. As good as this surprisingly turned out, can’t help to feel it’s a bad sign that we’re only going to see dozens more of remakes coming at this point.
same
Hey, if it's good and properly made, i dont mind🤣🤣 still waiting for my Dino Crisis remake, where is it Capcom?!!
@@GamingWithFredo sadly Capcom think only the Resident Evil series exist to be remade lol
I think they remade Dead Space 1 as a practice run for making Dead Space 4
There’s nothing wrong with remakes though as long as they are done right and faithfully recreated. Remember you aren’t under any pressure to buy them. They are for new players or just for older fans. Would I say no to a Bloodborne remake? Or MGS1? Or Dino Crisis? Etc etc… hell no, but ONLY if it’s done right of course!
It's gotten to the point where if I'm interested in getting a game, I'll check to see if there's a Before You Buy or if SkillUp has covered it. Thanks for being reliable, consistent and honest for all these years, guys!
Same but the price is still too much. I don't care what dev says. 89.99$ for a game is too much.

Oooo that's awesome for the tattoo
One of my favorite games ever. Can’t freakin wait
I've finished dead space 1&2 years ago 5/6 times. I was waiting on the reviews and bought the deluxe edition right away after I saved enough. It's totally worth the price for even a dead space veteran. I'm so happy that Dead space is getting the love and treatment it so much deserves.
I really appreciate this return to traditional survival horror in gaming. The return of Silent Hill and more Resident Evil makes me very happy. I hope we see more additions to Dead Space in the future
Ds3 cant fck off tho
I just hope Konami doesn't fuck up the remake of Silent Hill 2. Much like how everyone was concerned about EA messing up the Dead Space remake, Konami doesn't have much better a track record
@@jormilos konami's doesn't even have a good track record in general at this point EA can release a game once in awhile that's at the very least playable I don't even remember the last game Konami made wasn't a slot machine or metal gear survive
@@knucklessammich3875 yeah, all Konami has really released these past like, 4 years, have been collections of old games (castlevania, contra, and some srcade titles), there's a yugioh title, and a remaster/remake collection of some of the old Ninja turtle games that I think people actually liked.
@@knucklessammich3875 Konami some time ago actually was looking for studios to help them develop new games of their classic franchises. The new Silent Hill is being developed by an outside studio, not Konami themselves. There's hope.
This should’ve sold way more. Phenomenal game. Really wish we get a sequel remake at some point.
I'm a fiend for Dead Space. Mastered all of them on the hardest difficulties and this one is looking to take the crown of difficulty to satisfaction express. It's like going on your favorite trails and a new owner comes in and adds some of their own flair to the beaten path. Something old is something new again.
This is one of the best games of ALL TIME!
in its genre
A review that I can say, nailed the game from A to Z in details too
Thanks guys
Tom u owe Jake 1 billion dollarss
I truly hope Motive remakes number 2 and then creates a 3rd one.
If this does well then its most likely.
It would be even better if they actually continued the story by making a 4th.
I can say Dead space is probably the first remake I’ve played where they kept veteran gamers in mind. I loved how the game toys with you, especially if you played the original. Like everything is in place but some small things aren’t and it always catches you off guard. Definitely the best remake of a game I’ve ever played.
Agreed 💯
Free game for October!

Side note: the walking animation on the guy on the right 7:20 gave me a solid laugh.
walking like he's holding in a turd lol
Im surprised he didnt say anything about the walk lmao
I've never played dead space before, but the positive reviews I saw got me intrigued. This review convinced me to buy it. I almost think I will like it even more going in as my first dead space experience.
You’re in for a treat lol
Buy it. You won‘t regret it.
Me too I have never played dead space. I enjoyed the Callisto protocol. I know it got bad reviews, which was harsh.
I’m excited for you! I wish I could relive the first time I played this game but on Ps5. You won’t be disappointed it’s a stomping good time!😂😂
SHOOOT THE LIMBS
I'm kinda happy that EA is realizing we still want linear, story driven, single player games. Not everything has to be a investment online only game. So between this and the sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order coming out 2 months from now, it's bittersweet supporting EA, but I'm glad to support GOOD EA project like this.
Just think, one day this game will be 500 years old. If humans are still around by then, I wonder what they’ll think of this ancient game?
We’re gonna see ALOT of remakes in the next 5 years. They’re trying to capture the magic from gaming back in the day. It’s hard for newer IPs to do it but I’m excited 🤝🏽
I honestly don’t understand how that excites you as a gamer
Where's my Beyond Good and Evil remake? Surely Ubisoft will remake it a year or 2 before the second is due out.
@@David-ud9ju At the rate their doing BG&E 2, the remake of the original should be released in 2030.
Laughs in GOW.

Happy to help!
My initial introduction into dead space was the anime that released forever ago, not long after played the first game and was blown away. I was disappointed with how it initially ended so hopefully there’s a redemption arc for the series as a whole down the line
Remember watching my late oldest brother playing this game. Been a blast playing the remake and seeing what's old and what's new.
How has it been?
@@whydoihavesubs6644 Awesome. The remake is very, very good. They added things, and changed certain things as well and it makes it way better than the original. I finished it so now I'm currently playing the second one. I highly recommend getting the remake.
In New game+ there are 12 marker artifacts, 1 for every chapter I believe, and if you collect them all you can get the secret ending, so once I'm done with 2 and 3 I'm gonna go back and find them.
Yo! I'm a newer watcher, probably been watching this series for about 6 weeks or so. I gotta say, I love your content. I disagree with SOME of it but that's just part of the game (Pun intended, see what I did there? 😂) but mostly spot on reviews. Keep up the good work and thank you for making these videos!!

You're welcome^^
Hell yes. Arguably one of the best games ever.
One thing I've noticed between this and the original is that in the original, Isaac was unable to look to his right. It was probably just a bug or something, but I always saw it as subtle foreshadowing towards the ending of the game. That's not present in the remake, sadly leaning into it just being a bug or something
I'm so glad this came out shortly after Callisto Protocol because this will finally scratch the Dead Space each I needed that Callisto didn't give.
Does anyone else watch because its free this month😂
Last month I was debating to get this or wait for RE4. Lo and behold, I got both lol
Thanks Jake! Great overview! I loved the first two and enjoyed the third, but never finished it. Really happy to hear they added more content and those environments look awesome. Alot of people are saying it didn't "need" a remake, no no it didn't, but it deserved one
The best move after this is to remake 2 and make a completely different 3 and then make DS 4. That would be perfect.
Looks awesome, looking forward to trying it out
I am pleasantly surprised by how good this remake looks! Remakes often fall short, in my opinion, but Dead Space looks like everything I want a remake to be. I would be super excited if they were to add multiplayer to the remake, but I can recognise that such a thing might not work with the original story and gameplay.
Dead Space Remake >>> Callshitsto Protocol
Hell yeah, I’m glad everyone is liking this game as well!
I was going in being extremely critical. Dead space OG is on my top 5. This game did an amazing job. I was 100% sold in like 30 minutes. The force gun thooooo
This should be the example for remakes going forward.
Your reviews are absolutely enjoyable. Always in point, very detailed and even hilarious from time to time. I always live to watch them, keep up the great job. Now I need to go to play this reborn masterpiece! 😎
50 buck for a old game with a grax up date is bullcrap.
Seems extremely over priced for what it is.
The video was encouraging, and the comments are too. I played the original a year or two after it came out, but I got busy with life and never finished it. I think I'll have to get this. The graphics should be great on my PS5. Thank you Jake! I love your reviews, they are my go to for deciding what games I want to buy!
On sale right now on Amazon. Just got my copy.
7:19 - "looks at right soldier's feet" - oh yeah bro, it's so good.
