Dude the way they utilized the pause menu and turned it into a detective mechanic / writers room in their minds is absolutely brilliant. It’s lovely when a developer actually gets to do what they want with a game that they truly love and care about.

This is truly a next gen title. Ambient sound design is incredible as well as the graphics, atmosphere and environments. Remedy always pushed the industry forward in graphical fidelity. Max Payne 1 when it released was revolutionary for it's bullet time and animations. Max Payne 2 for the physics and graphics. Control was the game to show off and market Ray tracing. And on top of that all these games have amazing storytelling, writing and actors. Well done to Remedy. I get it that it's sad we don't have physical release but without Epic's budget and funding this game wouldn't have been made. It looks stunning

Opening up by saying, look, if you're a Remedy fan, love their style, love Alan Wake.. you're safe buying this. Perfectly said, because it's true for any series fan, even if there are some faults, chances are they won't be enough to stop you enjoying it. Hmm I dunno. While I do appreciate Jake's takes on stuff, I can't say I'm the biggest fan of his style of reviews because sometimes it feels like Jake's trying too hard to be neutral and unbiased, which makes him come off as overly negative in some instances even with games he really enjoys, which is weird. Sometimes it's hard to get a read on how much Jake enjoys/doesn't enjoy certain games IMO.

I just rewatched this video and Jake's enthusiasm for this game is very blatant, and he even points out having to try and manage his bias of being a Remedy fan. This review was more clear about the game quality than any rating scale review I've seen on like Gaming Bolt or anything. Also, when someone says they love the game and even name specific reasons why, I don't see how their tone of voice would diminish that or disprove it. At least not in this case

Isn't it scary to think about how Remedy could have gone the way of many Indie Devs/Smallsr studios, so many of them have either faded or been bought out by big corporations which results in either losing creative control and losing that ability to take their time, forced to have microtransactions or live service features, or they end up being shuttered after being purchased. Remedy has endured through the years, and aside from partnering with large corporations and having to buy back their game rights later, they've maintained their integrity and their creative control

I played Alan Wake years back as my first horror game. It was the most fascinating narrative/horror/survival/shooter game I've played. Then, I played American Nightmare and was quite disappointed that it was just a filler. Years later, I got my hands on Control. I didn't know it was made by the Remedy until through gameplay I started to see some similarities such as the taken in perspective. Sadly, I shrugged it off and then AW2 was announced and I was thrilled. Bought it and started playing it enjoying every piece of art. Then Ahti appeared and my reaction wasn't recorded but I was beyond surprised and shocked. I knew they had a connection now.
    Story: S-Tier
    Controls: Easy and familiar
    Quality: S-Tier
Almost everything about it is S-Tier
I rarely get to enjoy a game such as this. Skull and Bones can be thrown into the trash. This is what paying customers want. Developers who really put effort and care into their work and only wish to see the success of the game through what the player base loves over what EA, Activision, and now Ubisoft tries to pull off.

AAAAAH!!! You guys have saved me SO much money and at the same time have me spending a ton also!!! haha! I like to say thanks once in a wile to you all creating good content that keeps us from buying garbage.
Back in the late 90's and early 2000. If you bought a game for Pc before anyone you knew had it, it was a Gamble. Sometimes they would barley run on a new build and months later they would say "Oooh yeah doesn't work on these GPU's and list a good amount of cards. You couldnt return the game either. "Contact your Video card company for help." Wasnt all the time but wow, it did happen. Or you just didnt like the game and no did ANYONE else.
    Serious, Thanks for the Content

You had me when you mentioned the ash tray maze. Control was a fantastic game but I had no intention of playing Alan Wake 2. Now I gotta pick it up. It's mandatory.

"I found the object. They called it "a PS5 controller." I picked it up on October 27th, and I couldn't stop playing. Somehow, I was sucked into this new world, I knew I was addicted." - Me on release day.

I've beaten Control and Alan Wake in the past week in the leadup to this game, but I can never swallow that launch price. Last time I bought something at full price was when Elden Ring launched, and I don't know if I can do the same with this game. Still looks awesome though, maybe I will buy.

This game is absolutely phenomenal! The way the scene completely changes in front of your eyes when u select it is so impressive. This is without a doubt one of the best horrors I've ever played! My favourites are games like Until Dawn, Evil Within, outlast 2, Silent Hill games, amnesia. Until Dawn is my favourite and cant wait for the ps5 remake but id say this is second tbh. Its that good!

Although i wasn't sure i would love survival horror games, I started playing Resident evil games couple of months ago and finished 1-0-2-3 and i freaking loved them alot. Now looking at the survival games i can play this year we have RE4 Remake, Dead Space and Alan Wake 2... That is INSANE.

How was zero its pretty infamous in the community. Did you play the remake of 1? You should play code Veronica as well, it's basically the 3rd game in the story even tho it's not.

@@binglybingler2598 i played 1 remake first, took me time to get used to the gameplay.. nearly dropped it. Then it clicked and loved it so much but i felt some puzzles were too hard to figure out on your own, specially sometimes when are trying to use a puzzle item somewhere and if you weren't at the correct spot it wouldn't trigger which frustrated me.
RE0 had one of the most enjoyable sections like the train and most of (spencer building?) were amazing IMO, also puzzles requiring two characters were great stuff. But holy f it was ruined by the broken enemy types like the monkies and bats, too fast too hard to hit and also no Item Box FFS WHY??
About Code Veronica heard really bad things so i'm hestiant.
RE2 remake is one of the best 10 games i've ever played.

@AJ-eh5kn the item box thing in zero killed me for it, but I like everything else ok. Veronica and the remake of 1 actually came out at a bad time for the series, so it's not remembered as fondly. Theirs a guy in it to that people hate but I like him bc he's a huge meme, I would say out of those 1st 4 games its the most refined tho I'd say 2 is the best. At the very least its a lot better than 0 to me. It may be to easy for people as well the knife is broken in that game.

@@binglybingler2598 they said Veronica is the hardest RE game! I will give it another thought though..
I think if they fully remake 1 the same way they did with 2, it has the potential to be one of the best!

What is the weak melee move? A punch or just a gun specific bunt?

I came here as I got Control from Epic for free and loved it so much that I bought the DLC and am loving the DLC. I looked up the Dev to find it was Remedy and learned that the game I keep seeing pop up, Alan Wake 2, is one of their games so I'm definitely want it.

Remedy games have been must-plays for me ever since I first heard a friend of mine describing the first Max Payne to me on the bus to school one morning.

My girlfriend and I played through the first chapter on ps5. Performance was really good playing quality mode (which I never use), so that was cool. As a fan of the remedy universe I am pleased with this sequel so far. I really like all the nods, and easter eggs from their other games. To be transparent, there isnt alot of combat in the first chapter, so we will see if performance stays at this level. Graphically, all I can say is WOW, so good, almost looks like live action. Happy with my purchase.

This looks good. Been a fan since the original MaxPayne. Remedy makes good psychological horror/action games. Definitely gonna pick this up. Been playing MK1 then getting Robocop next week, have to make time for this one.

Will definitely get this when it comes to Steam. As a former Sony console fanboy, I turned my nose up at Alan Wake, but when I finally played it on PC, a few years ago, I was blown away. One of the better games I've ever played and I have always hoped to see a sequel.
