As 64 year old who first listened to Pink Floyd as a 13 year old in 1973, I am FREAKIN LOVING your reactions as they were mine way back in the day. .
I laugh all the way through your reactions coz I know WHAT'S COMING!!!!!
You have got so much to look forward to champ. Keep up the great work. WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!!!!!

You probably were not 13 in 1973, if you are 64 on 18 Nov 2022. Anyway, mildly jealous of people old enough to remember the release of the album or young enough to never have listened to it.

Not really a link, just Eminem stealing PF song or ideas. Learning from them is one thing, outright stealing another.

    • @AD270479
      @AD270479 ปีที่แล้ว +5

@@detroitlady7201 They didn't steal a song or idea, they sampled a very small part of it. And it would only be stealing if they never got permission, and if they never had permission I'd say Roger Waters would let us know about it...

This is Another Brick in the Wall Part 2 (Parts 1 and 3 are shorter bookend songs though, this is still the main meat of the song), and The Wall is just a massive, epic concept album, more than any of their other works, designed as one flowing piece. There's a lot of great songs that really work great in isolation though, like this one, Comfortably Numb etc. I love how tweaked you get by Gilmour's guitar tone haha.

I bought the Wall for my son in 1980. I sat down and listened to the whole thing while reading the lyrics. I was stunned, and listened to the whole thing again. At 2 a..m. I got up and listened again. I never gave it to him, and I still have it. For a really awesome experience, watch Roger Waters the Wall live in Berlin when they tore it down.. 700,000 people attended. The Scorpions, Brian Adams Guhrke Lauper, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Red Army choir and many more performed. I'm 82 and still listen to this music. You are amazing. Your visceral reaction to music is a joy to watch.

That group Class of 99, was supergroup side project for Tom Morello(RATM) Stephen Perkins (Janes Addiction) Martyn LeNoble (Porno For Pyros) and of course the late great Layne Staley from Alice in changes. In fact this track and two others recorded in 1988 was the last time Layne ever stepped in a studio or recorded any music. He lost the battle with his demons and drugs 4yrs later.
Just in case you didn't know......This song is from their Album The Wall, which is also a 1982 British live-action/animated psychological musical drama film, directed by Alan Parker, based on Pink Floyd's 1979 album of the same name. The screenplay was written by Pink Floyd vocalist and bassist Roger Waters. The Boomtown Rats vocalist Bob Geldof plays rock star Pink, who, driven insane by the death of his father, constructs a physical and emotional wall to protect himself.
Lastly not to really fry your noodle, and there's much debate if this was intentional or not, but if you watch the classic movie "Wizard of Oz" with the sound muted, and at a certain point I don't remember, I think it's when the movie turns to color, you start playing Pink Floyd's album Dark Side Of The Moon, and it matches what is happening in the movie perfectly, who knows if it's perception or real, but it's pretty wild to watch and listen

  • @MDElam
    @MDElam 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I love the connections you made in this video, brother! That's one of the great things about expanding musical vision: You see that great music connects (Eminem to Pink Floyd to . . . well, you get it). I love your PF reactions, but I'm down to see your other upcoming reactions. (As for PF, maybe throw in some more material from the Pulse concert or, less reacted to, The Delicate Sound of Thunder concert?: "On the Turning Away" or "Yet Another Movie" even though it's a heavy 80s vibe.) I'll add to the chorus of voices suggesting other songs/bands and suggest "Roundabout" by Yes also. Keep on being you!

Puff Daddy did "Come with Me"
Working with Jimmy Page Lead Guitarist from Led Zeppelin.
"Come with Me" is based on Led Zeppelins "Kashmir"
    (you will probably recognise it)
And if you also check out
Led Zeppelin "The Immigrant Song" live

Led Zeppelin - When the Levee Breaks
You might recognise samples used EVERYWHERE 😉

I think you'd love Pink Floyds 1977 album, "Animals", the "Dogs" track will set to off like NASA!
How about checking out Pink Floyds 1994 Pulse Concert, at Earls Court London. There are some phenomenal performances, of lots of their best compositions, and a great laser and light show coordinated with the music, all during the show.
There are only three members of Pink Floyd in those years, David Gilmour, Rick Wright and Nick Mason. They're the three old guys onstage, all of them in their late 40s and early 50s.

The Animals album was remixed in 2018 but just came out a few weeks ago. Roger and David arguing, as usual, apparently held up the release. Anyways, I’m not usually a fan of albums being remixed but this one really needed it, and the results are fuckin amazing! Since you love bass (as do I!) when you do Pigs (Three Different Ones) DEFINITELY do the 2018 remix. The bass line is incredible (and played by David, not Roger).
Has anyone requested One of These Days? It’s mind blowing banger from the Floyd. You’ll love it.

I love watching you..🤣 yeah, you're relearning what you thought you knew son, they've been sampled more than freebies at a restaurant 🤣 the British bands of the 60s and 70s where getting access to instruments nobody had even played before 😳 even my brother who had his own band back then was coming home with sht, like a wah wah peddle for his guitars, Gibsons Fenders and his Les Paul, and saying to me, aged 10, 1970.."listen to this..." playing a few chords and pumping this peddle with his foot, that was plugged into his guitar and the sound just went crazy 😳😳😳 the Moog synth was the original baby though...early 60s, it was the first synth really..I was only around 6 or 7 so it just looked like a big control panel to me, with lots of knobs, sliding things and a row of piano keys at the bottom, I had a go but the keyboard player in my brothers band went white with fright and begged me not to go near it again 🤣😄🤣 most of the bands equipment was on something called H.P. back then, P.A. systems drum kits, mics stands guitars and keyboards where often hired from music shops, the brothers band went to a guy called Frank Hessey in my hometown Liverpool 😏 the Beatles would have used him as well back then...😳

Of course I loved the reaction... and also the other version, which I had never heard.... and a bit of education from an oldie... listening to the end of the D12 track... loved their own reference to it.. As we say in Beatles world... IT'S ALL CONNECTED....!!!

It would take you weeks to find all the Pink Floyd nods in other people's music but I remember The Fugees back in the late 90s using lines from Wish You Were Here. Wyclef himself released a cover of the same song about four years ago which is very good.

Amazing link that you discovered. I like all genres of music. I lean mostly towards classic rock. Yea, I know PF is considered progressive rock but I do like rap. I like Eminem especially his older stuff. The Marshal Mathers album and such. Love how modern artists will sample older stuff and no one knows the true roots. Kuddos to you mate. Keep the reactions coming!

I'm a year late to the party but I'm loving it. Also, I'm at the end of your Pink Floyd reactions! Are there more?! Are there any songs/albums you haven't reacted to/listened to??

Nice seeing the influence on other genres. Must have been an eye popping moment discovering where that whole thing about finishing your meat came from, lol. Great stuff man. If I may point at a few less frequently suggested but still mindblowing songs, you could do:
-Hey You from the same The Wall album
-Saucerful of Secrets, an old gem back to that Pompeii live concert. Be warned there are cut versions of that with only the more melodic second half of the song. The full thing includes a first half consisting of what you could call a "pandemonium of avantgarde noise", that then goes to be contrasted by the *beautiful* second half. I like that contrast personally, but you could do either version and, you know, be yourself man.
-Some of the more recent, post-Waters era, massively underrated songs. For instance 1994's High Hopes. The live PULSE versions of Sorrow and On the Turning Away are also stellar. But of course so are the studio ones. I won't tell you what to pick and be told to fvck off lol just laying info and choices for you man to do whatever you feel like doing.
Keep up with the great stuff you're doing and welcome to the dark side!

You need to watch the movie The Wall. Prepare yourself as it's a whole another Journey into their visual world.
We were fortunate to see them perform this live they built the wall the entire time and then tore it down at the end.
And of course they not only had the full Orchestra and chorus as usual but they had the whole youth chorus is well. And then a crap load of kids that fed themselves to the grinder.
I believe it was their largest production ever. Requiring over 50 semi trucks just to move their equipment.

Well that was a surprise......another PF this week. Brilliant man. Life and music can be pretty spooky. Watching again your reaction to Shine on you crazy diamond last night and I thought, I need to get a mate of mine to listen to the album as he has never listened to PF before, i didnt get around to texting him. This morning he pulls up in his car at work with THAT album blasting out. Spooky as fuck. He says why the fuck haven't I listen to this awesome music before??
He's hooked now just like you. Keep it going man and soooooo looking forward to Dogs in the coming days.

excellent reaction! to answer your question at the end regarding what else you will find out on your journey, Yes, Led Zeppelin is one of if not the most sampled artists in music. In fact diddy sampled the entire track called "Kashmir" from Led Zeppelins 1975 Physical Graffiti album he just changed the lyrics. he called it "come with me". Another heavily sampled zepp classic is "immigrant song". keep on...

You should find some time also for blues. A Gary Moore Irish master of guitar and his "Still got the blues for you" LIVE old version will drives you to the fillings of guitar you have never heard.

Oh, yes, another Pink Floyd track! This is the third song that I’ve listened to from the group. They nailed the performance very well. And love the guitar 🎸 rhythm, too as it’s danceable 🕺. I heard of the movie 🎥 “The Faculty” and I never know that there was another version of it in the soundtrack and that greatest artists like Tupac Eminem and his D12 group sampled the song saas, interesting. And it’s cool that you’re into different kinds of music. It’s awesome to be your unique self, don’t stop being your unique self, and I won’t, either. Even though I love hip hop music, I’ll listen to any other musics in all genres. Thanks so much for sharing your reaction and it’s a like and thumbs up.😄👍#pinkfloyd

Founder PF member Roger Waters once said that they didn't do singles as 'we were no bloody good at it'. Well, this was a huge no 1 singles chart hit for them in 1979😁. This was the time when punk was he latest music fad & punks like the Sex Pistols condemned PF as old hat. Well, PF just kept going... They made a movie of The Wall starring Bob Geldof who in 2005 got PF back together. The movie version is a bit distracting with other sounds rom the film but there is a 'pop video' version made for the single featuring kids running around a housing estate that got screened on Top of the Pops on the BBC. I find it heartening these days that many reactors to 'old music' often select the TOTP BBC performances. Also makes me feel old! LOL!.
BTW, 5.30 that riff got me into PF. I was 15 at the time and knew of Floyd & Dark Side etc but never really heard them much. I do now!😊
