Entire Pink floyd albums needs to be listen to,because one song blends into another and tells a story. Start with Dark side of the moon which holds the record for staying on the billboard charts like 20 years.
A tough album to pick singles from to listen too. It really is better to experience it all in one sitting. Roger Water's semi-autobiographical depiction of a rock star who is the product of over-bearing mother and authority figures (teachers) and builds an emotional "wall" to protect him from emotions and the associated pain. In the end he is forced to tear down the wall and expose himself. The poem was actually lyrics from their song "Money" from the Dark Side of the Moon album.
@@knowsomething9384 Completely agree. Live versions are cool for people who already know the song, but first listens need to be album versions. Everything is tweaked and worked on to sound exactly how the band intended.
@@johnnyjohnny-cg7np 100% agree. The way we heard it on the radio and when we bought the album was what made it so important at the time and buy only going for the live version, oftentimes perform two years and years after the fact and not even the same band members sometimes, you just totally missed the whole vibe in the culture of the time and why they became so big to start with. Or why a particular song is so beloved to start with. And plus the Fidelity is almost always way better and you can hear exactly what the band intended you to hear and why it became a hit. And then if you love it that much, then go back and watch a live version to get that visual input.
Don’t care about the tune education police, people who like to enjoy David Gilmore’s solos without any interruption, should not watch reaction videos. Just remember, it’s your channel and you can react however you want to react.
The band was named in honor of two older black blues musicians from North Carolina, PINK Anderson and FLOYD Council. It was to signify their desire to be a "BLUES" band. FYI.
I am completely in shock that you do not know who one of the most iconic bands in history is. WOW. To see Pink Floyd live should be a must for everyone, they are incredible. Dark side of the moon is the best rock album ever produced imo.
Rarely have I seen an American reaction to this where the meaning is appreciated or understood. You are intuitive and have the ability to look outside the box. 👍🇬🇧
That was Bob Geldof at the end. This is from a movie "The Wall" and also a double album of the same name. Bob Geldof played the title role in the movie. Bob was also the lead singer for a band called The Boomtown Rats and co-founded Band-Aid which you probably have heard of and if you haven't, I wouldn't mind seeing you react to Queen's performance at Live-Aid. Pretty much considered to be the best live rock performance of all time.
The whole album needs to listened to. It's really a story. A story of drugs, depression, isolation. The Wall is one of the greatest works in rock history.
Hey Britt, this track came out whilst I was at school and the teachers at the time hated it. I remember going on a geography field trip and the whole bus singing it throughout most of the journey. Great work as usual, give Pink Floyds 'money' a listen to. This was the poem the teacher in this clip was referring to.
Pink Floyd is one of the greatest bands to ever grace us with their genius. Their music still holds up as social commentary (since socially and politically nothing has changed in 50 years, not for the better anyway) and they are very talented poets and musicians. This is a deep catalog to dig into. Others have suggested some good ones but Comfortably Numb - Pulse Live, High Hopes - Pulse Live, and Time are all great places to start. But keep in mind, Pink Floyd wrote albums, not songs (once Syd was gone anyway - which is the version of the band most people are familiar with). Their albums were meant to be listened to as a complete story. Hard to do on here as a reaction, I know, but worth it on your own for sure.
Britt, Love ya but your honestly killing me, how is it possible to not know literally one of the top 3 most influential rock bands in the history of the world?????
The video you watched had clips from a full length movie about the album. It's called The Wall. The kids are not bricks in the wall, the teacher is another brick in the wall of isolation the kid makes for himself to protect him from the evil of his world.
Saw them in concert. The Best. Grab some popcorn with a big TV with an Amazing sound system and watch the entire Pick Floyd the Wall in Berlin. Best ever! Enjoy!
It's important to know that these are original scenes from the movie which was made by Alan Parker in 1982 and it contains much autobiographical material of Roger Water's life, the bassist of Pink Floyd: The loss of his father in the second world war, his overbearing mother, the suffering in the authoritarian school system in England after World War II etc. The photo at the end of the clip shows Bob Geldof who's also a rock musician and played the main role in the movie. I think you have to watch this movie for understanding the full implications of this amazing Pink Floyd album. As far as I know the complete movie can be watched for free on TH-cam.
Facts. I remember studying this album in social studies high school. Teacher was a fan. Another teacher friend of my sister was talking about this album being a way to discuss industrialization and its role to end the world.
This video is from the movie made of Pink Floyd's album The Wall. The guy in the picture at the end is Bob Geldoff, who was behind the movie. I'm pretty sure that Geldoff was the one that put together the Live Aid concert in the 80's (if you haven't seen it yet, Queen's performance was amazing).
Pink Floyd has THE best audio of any concert I have ever been too. They use Quadraphonic sound. The PA system is in the front, the upper sides and the back. I saw them in ASU stadium. We were on the floor waiting for the show to start and at one point they played the sound of a helicopter and it sound like it flew all around us then buzzed our heads, it was crazy.
The poem the teacher reads out loud are lyrics from Money, a Pink Floyd song. The picture at the end is of Bob Geldof of the Boomtown Rats and the force behind the Live Aid benefit concerts. Geldof plays the lead in the movie The Wall.
I homeschool my kids we have since preschool but we unschool, its complete child led learning, my kids have 100% freedom with their education....my 12 year old is set to graduate highschool by 14. Its amazing what kids can do when they are given true freedom to think for themselves.
Pink Floyd the wall is more than a video of one song, It's and entire move that is paired with a double album set. The entire album is about tearing down the walls.
The fact that you quickly figured out the school topic, for your correct reasonable thoughts - a huge plus. But for ignorance of who and what Pink Floyd is - a fat minus! 😁 Thanks anyway, keep going! 😊
I might offer, headphones will give you an entirely different experience of Pink Floyd. They are masters of soundscaping, and recorded quadraphonic. You’re missing a lot of what’s there. I’d also suggest a reaction to everything on the Dark Side of the Moon album.
I remember last day of school in '81, 6th grade, whoever that kid was allowed to broadcast morning news, held the mic up to this song tearing out all distorted over our classroom speakers.
Hey Brit, really enjoy watching your reactions to classic videos. And while you're on Pink Floyd, I HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you do reaction to Pink Floyd's performance of "Comfortably Numb" from their Pulse Tour Live from 1994!!... It's one of the best live performances you'll probably ever see. From the visual effects to the guitar solo. It truly is amazing. So, please, please do a reaction video.... YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!!!
To be honest, I cringe when I see a Reactor, that is new to Pink Floyd react to The Wall first. The Wall Album is a masterpiece but, a concept album. Reactors do not “get it” thus, don’t appreciate the master that it is. Also, I think it would help you Britt to know the release dates of the music.
The man in the picture is the singer of the band The Boomtown Rats, Sir Bob Geldof. Bob played the character Pink in the 1982 film Pink Floyd's The Wall, Bob is also known as the promoter of LIVE AID 1985 at Wembley and Live 8, Live 8 is a series of concerts that started on 2 July 2005 with concerts in all G8 countries and South Africa. Live 8 can be seen as a successor to Live Aid. The event took place in London, Tokyo, Berlin, Rome, Johannesburg, Philadelphia, Barrie, Paris and Moscow. The poem the teacher is bashing are the lyrics to Pink Floyd's "Money", another one of their songs that is a must. They wanted to show how strict and stern the education system could be and how it also tended to teach conformity while sniffling out individuality. Like several of their songs, there is an element of social awareness.
this track also reflects the schools back in the 70's so different than today i left school in 1975 and i did not enjoy my time in education. loved the review
Yes, you are correct for the part about Pink Floyd's another brick in the wall and its message. They were trying to tell you about things like CRT of it's time....that is going on today.! Good catch Britt!
Great reaction Britt! Should definitely listen to the album version of all the music first to get all the nuances in their production. This version was re-recorded for the movie and the guitar solo was buried I the mix for some crazy reason. The Wall specifically is best listened to the album first, then the movie, then the live concert called "Is There Anybody Out There?". Looking forward to more!
You listened to two songs, the first on is called happiest days of our lives then another brick in the wall. And that video is from their movie called The Wall, the ending was the beginning of the next scene. Pink Floyd is 4 guys. There are so many brilliant Floyd songs, but should check out their song Time next.
@@brittreacts The Guy in The picture was Bob Geldof who organized LIVE AUD which raised £30 Million for Africa and from that The USA also organized an event the same day and raised millions. He has never been with Pink Floyd which was formed in 1964 so I do not know why he is pictured. lol
This song is from an album that very literally saved my life. I was alone, abused, ridiculed by my school-mates. My grandmother, who was the only member of my family that made me feel like I mattered had passed away when I was 13, and then "The Wall" came out when I was 14 years old... It tells a story of how pressures and pain dive the character "Pink" into insanity, it told me how the wall I was building around me to feel safe would ultimately destroy me... It changed my life. You need to listen to the album from start to finish: you have a keen mind, you will understand the messaging. The movie is incredible as well, it will give you a different perspective to improve your understanding. It would be absolutely AWESOME to see a song by song reaction to the album, maybe over a years time....?
I literally wore out their album Dark Side of the Moon because I played it so much in the 70s and had to buy another one. They are one of the most iconic bands ever. The whole album this particular song is off The Wall is also amazing.
Thanks for the reaction--this song was a critic against the british education system in the 1940's. The poem that the teacher reads to humiliate the kid at the start, is in fact the lyrics of the song Money, also by Pink Floyd, which became their best selling hit--and the teacher laughs about it--irony. And you're right--the teacher at home is being bossed by his wife, so he takes revenge on the kids at school. About the masks, it means that the school system in these days encourages conformity--a manufacture to suppress kid's individuality and make them all the same. They made the movie the wall back in 1982--worth watching as a whole. The pic that you see at the end is the main actor in the movie. For the band himself, try to search for live performances. They disbanded in the mid 1980's, but the survivors still collaborate with other artists, once in a while--Roger Waters is still active at almost 80 y.old.Have a nice day.
As a teacher in training, I was taught not to use sarcasm until a student was old enough to appreciate it. "No dark sarcasm in the classroom" is definitely true.
I sure wish she would have listened to the studio. Because the music is the greatest part of it all. The movie is good, but she can’t really hear the music with this video.
Pink Floyd is a whole different level of listening... they thrived of bending the mind. They are brilliant and thought provoking. They tell stories and like to rebel... lol. enjoy, its volumes of world renowned brilliance.
We were in Junior School in 1979, in Yorkshire. The pupils (as we were then called) were not allowed to sing "we don't need no education". Anyone caught doing so was sent to the headmaster. And yes, we were caned at school, on the palm of our hands or on the bum, rarely but to did happen.
Britt... There is a point to this music when heard in it's entirety. Many post WWII schools not only taught, they molded. There was a cultural revolution goin' on and these were changing times ...it was reflected in the music.
That video reflects on teachers and schools in the 1950s to 1970s . I had a teacher who once decided to hit me for talking in class . My gran who raised noticed the mark on my leg so to my surprise and the teacher's surprise she waited for him to come out of school and I had no more trouble
This video is from the movie "Pink Floyd - The Wall", and the photo at the end is of Bob Geldof...the actor who played grown up Pink...and his costar (wife) Eleanor David.
The Wall is also, and mainly, a movie. All the songs are connected. That's what Pink Floyd does usually in their albums, their amazing albums... Beautiful and unusual reaction anyway, thanks. Love from France 🇫🇷😘
The "video" is from the movie they made of the album (in 1983) 4 years after its release in 1979. Something like 90% of this album was written by Pink Floyd bassist and lead singer, Roger Waters. It's a semi biographical semi fictional mashup of Roger's childhood and the former lead singer, Sid Barrett's decent into madness, all wrapped together into the fictional character of "Pink Floyd". The stuff from the movie depicting Pink as a child is from Roger's life. The stuff with Pink as an adult are meant to represent Sid. The man PLAYING Pink in the movie is singer/producer Bob Geldof from the band the Boomtown Rats. That's who you see in the photo at the end. It's a really trippy movie (and album), but it worth a look/listen if you REALLY want to understand the story that Roger was telling.
The song (and video) is a bit out of context as The Wall (album and movie) are a concept piece. All of the later PF albums are based around a single concept so only listening to one song, on its own, doesn't always make sense. To see them in concert (minus their bassist who quit in the early 80s), search for the 1994 Pulse concert video of Comfortably Numb on TH-cam.
I never heard anybody break this song Down quite like you have. You get it. Stereo headphone please. You can't listen to Pink Floyd with the computer speakers.
This is how my parents was schooled in the uk, Schools now are miles apart now 😂 but I do remember when I was 10 in 1990 having to stand outside the class room with my nose against the wall and the teacher (Mr Robert’s) who come out and hit the back of my head..
"Another Brick In The Wall" was turned into a "rock opera" like "Tommy" (The Who) and Beetle's "Yellow Submarine." It's a great movie, but it's a little trippy.
No, Pink Floyd is just the name of the band. Happens that when you listen to this band you must go for the whole LP at once, they are a theme. So each song is linked to the next. Like the scenes of a movie. Regards.
Britt, Pink Floyd's music was mainly made for hallucinagenics. The Wall is a whole movie. I've seen the movie and the band live in concert, both on acid back in the 80's & 90's. It is an out of this world experience. If you get the chance, watch the whole movie Pink Floyd the Wall.
In this movie, It projects a child who goes into adult hood ,going through His own trauma and the conditioning and programming of society which results into a mental illness " primarily schizophrenia" the music and the imagery collaborate together into a feature film... A must watch !!! 👍👍👍
i was 12 years old when this came out and we all swallowed it raw, it was top music at that time. i didn't understand it al b4 the movie came out. but as many other`s are saying here it`s like starting a bog in the middle and read one chapter. what you are seeing here is a part of the main character`s journey.
The Wall is also a movie from Pink Floyd that Follows the Album which stars Bob Geldof. Sort of a dive into post ww2 Britain and also a dive into psychedelia. Much of Pink Floyd's music revolves around band make Sid Barrett who was diagnosed with schizophrenia and was eventually institutionalized. The remaining band members were no doubt devastated but also curious as to what was going on in the mind of Sid as far as what was or wasn't reality. Pink Floyd is known for concept albums that really should be listened to all the way thru as they have a beginning, middle, and end as well as a theme. Some great music!
The song and this video which contains scenes from the movie (The Wall) is an enditement of the British school system. The grinder scene and the faceless students are symbolic of what that system does to children's minds. The one child is Pink, the protagonist of the story.
I love this reaction!. It's incredible to me that some adults don't know Pink Floy at all, and especially The Wall (part 2) which is one of the most famous and recognizable songs ever! Keep going!❤
Good morning Britt ..💙💙💙🎼💙💙💙. I like that are opening your heart and mind to some epic 1970s music. This band stretches reality in some very cool ways.
Pink Floyd is one of my favorite bands their music is so good because they are such accomplished musicians. If you're looking for a good visual of the band, try watching the pulse album DVD it's a live recorded show I think you will love it
I know people have said that Pink Floyd is meant to be reacted to by the album. They are to be experienced not listened to. It’s a whole vibe. How ever. Great gig in the sky. Has the best skat performance of all time in it. I think u would love it ❤❤❤❤❤
When I was in school we wanted to have this as our class song, but we wasn't allowed to have THIS as our class song. But we ended up having our song Changes by David Bowie..
It's interesting you say that about this song because this song came out when I was in the 3rd grade, and the teaching establishment of the time tried to have this song band.
You also have to understand that this song was written in the 1970's and about teachers during that time period and before. There were many teachers who used their authority to rule over children. There was always that one teacher that seamed to enjoy punishing students and back in the 60's and 70's, physical reprimanding/corporal punishment was common.
Entire Pink floyd albums needs to be listen to,because one song blends into another and tells a story. Start with Dark side of the moon which holds the record for staying on the billboard charts like 20 years.
This ^^ 100%
That can go with most of their albums! They don't do individual songs. They do story telling with their music! That's what make them great!

I am feeling you because I still have my worn out copy as well as its replacement, lol.
I was introduced to this band early 1970s, I was about 6 In 1976, greatest band ever! Great music!
That "Poem" earned more money for Pink Floyd than all the teachers in that school's salary combined. lol
Britt, the words of the "poem" the young boy was writing were the lyrics to the Pink Floyd song "Money"
This is a song, a story, a vision an epic event. The movie was amazing!!
That was Bob Geldof . . He played Pink on the film, watch the film Pink Floyd The Wall, but with a friend. . . 👍👍😁😁
Love from France 🇫🇷😘
its interesting to note that the poem of the schoolboy was actually the lyrics to another pink floyd recording entitled,,,,, money
Regards.
Pink Floyd is a phenomenal band, listen to their albums in their entirety, that is how it is meant to be.
Simply Put.... You are simply phenomenal.....Thank You
Britt, Pink Floyd's music was mainly made for hallucinagenics. The Wall is a whole movie. I've seen the movie and the band live in concert, both on acid back in the 80's & 90's. It is an out of this world experience. If you get the chance, watch the whole movie Pink Floyd the Wall.
My 7th grade history teacher was my favorite!
Been watching your reaction in many videos and I'm a fan!
peace
In this movie, It projects a child who goes into adult hood ,going through His own trauma and the conditioning and programming of society which results into a mental illness " primarily schizophrenia" the music and the imagery collaborate together into a feature film... A must watch !!! 👍👍👍
'The Wall' is actually a movie. That's why it changed scene right at the end :)
And Pink Floyd are the band
i was 12 years old when this came out and we all swallowed it raw, it was top music at that time. i didn't understand it al b4 the movie came out.
but as many other`s are saying here it`s like starting a bog in the middle and read one chapter. what you are seeing here is a part of the main character`s journey.
Some great music!
check out the live pulse concert version of comfortably numb to see the band live
I love the poem in this video is the lyrics from Pink Floyds song Money.
I think u would love it ❤❤❤❤❤
The poem he read in front of the class was actually lyrics from the Floyd classic Money...enjoy. I have certainly enjoyed your reactions.
I love your thoughts about this. You are so right!
Poetry set to music 🎶 🎵 ✨️ it's about not being cookie cutter, be yourself 💗
You're quite incredible. Very wise and deep. I remember when The Wall came out. I loved it.
This is one song we played full blast at the end of the school year, along with schools out for summer by Alice Cooper.
You should listen to Pink Floyds "Comfortably Numb", Pluse concert version.
You also have to understand that this song was written in the 1970's and about teachers during that time period and before. There were many teachers who used their authority to rule over children. There was always that one teacher that seamed to enjoy punishing students and back in the 60's and 70's, physical reprimanding/corporal punishment was common.
