    Now you're really deep down the rabbit hole! This is a great example of how Pink Floyd paints the picture with every available brush. I was grinning so big when the vocals slammed into the "room" they'd constructed for you. Love your physical reactions to these great songs, Mark. Another one I'll watch over and over.

    I love this piece. It show how clever Roger and The Floyd are. First the groupie is voiced by Trudy Young not Toni Tennille as some think. But, what is really clever is that Roger has the TV responding to the groupie on behalf of Pink. Now, Waters has spent some time in hotels watching daytime soaps and here he has pulled out snippets of the show, "Another World", specifically from the last week in September 1979, episodes 3864 to 3866. Aside from the perception that the TV character appears to respond to the intrusion by the groupie, the name "Mrs. Bancroft" is used repeatedly. This alludes to Anne Bancroft who plays Mrs. Robinson in the movie, The Graduate. This is the movie where Mrs. Robinson seduces Benjamin Braddock played by Dustin Hoffman.
    One of the running themes on the album is the phone call, specifically as it relates to Roger Waters breakup with his first wife Judy Trim. When he called her collect from the US on tour at one point a man answered the phone. It crushed him. They ended up divorcing soon after. But here's the flip side; band groupies and their sexual escapades with band members. In this song Roger is playing up the idea that the band are merely prey for such sexual predators much like Dustin Hoffman's character in The Graduate. The song wants to believe that Pink has resisted such advances and angrily repels them. Is it true or is Pink just trying to remember it that way? Did Roger fool around on Judy or did she just convince herself and felt justified in moving a guy into their home?
    And as usual Gilmour tears it up on the guitar.

    • @vsmicer
      @vsmicer 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      All four Floyd members played around and found out - all ending up in the divorce courts, only Rick Wright would go on to be friends with his ex wife, his first wife, Juliette. David and Rick hit the coke and became very closed off. Rick wanted more time with his family. Roger's second marriage was going down the tubes at this stage, and so was his mental health. He would spend 20 years in therapy. It was amazing they managed to produce work at all, they were in such a shitty state. For the members (and many of the session players) making 'The Wall' made 'Get Back' look like a happy picnic.

    I bought myself this on cassette. I was in the navy headed overseas the next day. It was the only source of music I had for 4 months. Listened this every single day. Drove my ship mates crazy.
    The Wall is based on the character Pink.
    He just found out his wife was cheating on him, picked up a groupie after a show and brought her home. Then… he kind of lost it. Pretty sure he didn’t get laid.

    I have been listening to the Floyd for over 50 years now and have seen them live half a dozen times including the Pulse concert at Earls Court in 94.
    Watching your reactions to the Floyd have been a complete reawakening for me as to the genius of this band.
    Thank you over and over again for rekindling the magic of listening to the songs as if for the first time again.
    I would hope for maybe one reaction per week as I look forward to seeing them so much.

    I know you refuse to listen to full albums and your probably going to tell me to fuck myself but this really is ment to listened to in order. As much as you love it now you'll love it more. The main character Pink realizes his wife is cheating on him and looses it with a woman he was about to sleep with, he trashes his hotel room and scares her away. The next song is painful and Pink begs her to come back. That turns out to be the final brick in the wall and Pink completes the wall. Just like in Another Brick 2 his teacher was a brick in the wall.

    • @brainsqueezereactions
      @brainsqueezereactions  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I get it to a point but youre not me and im not you. The opinion they "should be" is just that. When they came out did the radio play full albums, did music tv play the full albums, i doubt it and im sure even at concerts they were a selection of songs.
      I think im having a whale of a time equally just grabbing at random. Plus the time to recird, edit and be able ti fit in the amount I do would be impossible.
      So its not a go f#ck yourself in amyway its just a more, stop asking as its not going to happen but changes nothing in my love for PF 🙌🙌🙌⏪️🧠

      What if you listened to the album as a whole without doing a video? Do it just for you? Maybe after you’ve done the hits?
      Back in the day we bought albums and listened to them as a whole, over and over. So it was something that happened. I’m sure some Album Oriented Rock (AOR) FM radio stations did play the entire vinyl LP. Also the band making it a movie meant they wanted it experienced as a whole.
      This doesn’t negate the value of enjoying single tracks, it’s not either/or but both/and.

    • @j.k.1963
      @j.k.1963 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      At many concerts the band played Dark Side Of The Moon and The Wall from beginning to end. They must have done so with a reason, I suppose? The Wall even was released as a movie telling the story from beginning to end. What the media do or did with their work has nothing to do with the intent their albums were made with. The Wall is a storyline consisting of moments in a lifetime, of negative influences, of moods, of character change by the subject Pink. These moments in his life together tell the story. You may or may not want to 'get it', but the opportunity lies there before you, Mark, and again, I'm not telling you that you should, but you could and by that 'get it'.

    • @AlessandroGenTLe
      @AlessandroGenTLe ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brainsqueezereactions Uhm, no. The only 2 songs they've ever played on radio were Another brick in the wall part 2 and (maybe, just maybe) Confortably numb. This WAS a concept album telling a full story front to back, child to near death, this WAS a MOVIE from nothing else than the genius of Alan Parker, and this MUST be listened (or better, the movie, which is only the music from the album) watched from top to end. That's it. It doesn't really make sense to get "One of my turns" without knowing the rest of the whole story, it's like opening a new book at page 142 and read 4 pages of that.

    • @farrken
      @farrken ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can listen to The Wall any way you want-one sing at a time or start to finish. But The Wall isn't just a collection of songs, it's a musical novel, a story from start to finish. Each song is a chapter in the book. You can go from chapter 9 to 3 to 15 if you want, but you really won't quite be the same as reading/listening start to finish. Another option is to watch the movie! And your right that they didn't play the whole album on the radio, but pink Floyd did the whole album in concert start to finish.

    In the world of Rock an "Axe" is a guitar.
    "are all these your guitars" is a question and later there's an answer "in the suitcase on the left you'll find my favourite Axe"
    Normally that would mean favourite guitar... But at this point in The Wall Pink is pretty crazy and Axe could be Axe🤣🤣🤣

They are slammed, hundreds? thousands? of recommendations, and I don't want to add to that, BUT.... yeah, you knew it was coming. BUT, I feel like I might be the only one on your channel who would pimp this, so that means, I need to try harder to not only catch your eye, but intrigue you as well. So, Postmodern Jukebox Featuring Haley Reinhart covering Radioheads Creep- It is brilliant. I said it before, but if I could only listen to 5 songs for the rest of my life, 4 of them would be Pink Floyd and 1 of them would be this cover I'm speaking of. I Implore you. Implore? Is that unfriendly, like pushy? huh.. I'm not sure I know the exact definition of implore. I want to passionately recommend this. It has over 100 Million views and really, there might not be much of a rabbit hole. I mean, they have many different singers, so the band isn't set, it is fluid, so if you fall in love with Haley, which you should, her catalog isn't that vast. Now if you fall in love with Postmodern Jukebox, which you should, they have a larger catalog. th-cam.com/video/m3lF2qEA2cw/w-d-xo.html

    I'd recommend watching The Wall movie at some point but when you do just keep in mind that the lyrics to the songs are pretty much the script for the movie there's only a few lines of spoken dialogue in the whole movie. When I first got my copy of the movie on VHS I recorded it on to audio tape, there's a couple songs in the movie that aren't on the album, and I listen to the movie more than watch it.

      But one of the best songs from the LP is not in the film: Hey You.

    You gotta check out the movie "The Wall" ... it's awesome
    The album is basically the movie soundtrack.
    And you absolutely nailed... to get it , you gotta get it.
    Pink Floyd became my therapy at a young age... I love it

    The tippy top of the Wall, if you are just to pull individual songs out, are: Comfortably Numb (of course), Hey You, Thin Ice, Goodbye Blue Sky, Young Lust, and Run Like Hell. I vote for you checking out Hey You next. :)
    I love Nobody Home but, as with One of My Turns, it’s a song better understood and appreciated within the context of the story.

    I know you don't like being told that you need to listen to the whole album, but of all the Pink Floyd albums, The Wall is the one it applies to the most. The other albums were somewhat loosely tied together by concepts of birth, conflict, aging and death. With The Wall, all the songs are closely connected and tell the story of Pink (fictional lead singer) and the trials and tribulations of being a famous rock star and all the things, both good and bad that goes with that. For an even better understanding, watch the movie The Wall. It's basically an album length music video. :-D

      I’d recommend the same thing with several other Rock Opera albums, all that spawned films.
      Tommy by the Who
      Quadrophenia by the Who
      Jesus Christ Superstar
      A great listen for a concept album without a film is S. F. Sorrow by Pretty Things

    Love the reaction. If you had seen the video you would've understood why you wanted to smash something. Pink Floyd is an audio/visual experience. Really want to see you react to the total package.

    Agreed on the inner feeling Pink Floyd creates.
    Strange you should say you want to bust up a room.
    In the movie that's exactly what happens when that guitar comes in. Before that he's just staring into space sitting in a chair. Which is why the girl is asking if he feels okay.
    We had the opportunity to see hear the wall concert tour. I thought that the animals concert was over the top in production until we witnessed the wall. The wall being built throughout the whole concert. Many scenes from the movie which was released later showed on a big round screen. And a very large Orchestra mixed chorus and boys chorus and I have someone driving up through one of my back pastures. Sorry dictating anyway
    I don't care what you listen to It's Your Life.
    That is as long as you play more Pink Floyd! 😁
    Seriously life is what you make it.
    Not what someone else makes of your life.
    😉
    🤠🐂🏞️
    Now to go see why someone's driving where they shouldn't be tearing up one of my pastures good day I think it is there.

    Hector you would absolutely love the album.
    The Wall - is the complete life story of Pink (Mr Pink Floyd) from Birth to Rock-star to Insanity.
    Right through to puting himself on Trial inside his own head.
    (just brace yourself for Pinks brush with Fascism, Roger doesn't hold back on how offensive and racist fascism gets)
