    I'm using the Line 6 HD500X, which I scored for an insanely good price, and I've got the Tonex plugged into its effects loop. This setup gives me pretty much every amp tone and all the effects I could ever need. It sounds incredible running through my power amp and into two 4x12 cabs in stereo. I love trying out new gear but this definitely does the trick.

      @@ZacharyMoonshine ..so you use the tonex in the loop for all your amp models? I actually considerd using my Boss ME 80 multieffect pedal for effects and a tonex 1 for my guitar tones in front of it ( and basically have all boss effects)

    If you can’t get any modeller to work for you then it’s a user issue, not a product issue. They all sound stellar. I mean look at Micheal Amott, he’s still using a GSP1101 live through a Marshall amp power section!
    I’ve used the little Mooer 005 live and it works. I still use, and prefer amps live, but great to have options.

    I am using mainly the Helix lt, got the tone x pedal to improve the amp sounds. But I realized the amp sound are not really that much better. So now I am using the tone x for band practice and small gigs. The Helix lt at home with my tube amp in 4 cable method, and for bigger gigs. I also have a mooer preamp live, which sounds also great, but it is now more the backup for the tone x pedal.

    Owned the FM3 two times now and am at my 2nd Quad Cortex.
    While I love the overall tones & effects in the Fractal and the flexibility, I had to settle on the Quad Cortex as it fits my needs better currently: playing in a 5-piece band & the QC allows me to run 2 guitars, bass and vocals all in the same unit.
    Easy to carry around & pretty rugged (if the Fortin Nameless and the NATAS land in the next update, I'll be even happier).
    At home, I usually just play NAM profiles of my gear on my PC & audio interface.

    Loved that intro so much. I think there's a need for education on how to get the best out of these things given that they're supplying an end to end sound chain beyond just amps and pedals. The differences are there though. I've a rig based on AmpliTube and ToneX, the Quad Cortex and the Fender. The Fender and AmpliTube are the easiest to use by far but the Quad Cortex and AmpliTube have more power in them for handling gigs and recordings. The Fender has the best connectivity and I think an edge on built (no beer inlets as I call the vents on the Quad Cortex. For me, if @IK Multimedia put out a box with the connectivity and UI of a Fender and the full range of their studio stuff, ToneX and AmpliTube it would be the ultimate.

    I got an axe fx 3 about 6 months ago. Man the learning curve is steep but I can’t imagine ever needing anything else. It is truly crazy. However, option paralysis is high. I find myself doing more tweaking than playing. But hey, I love tweaking and making presets for my favorite bands. Is it that much better than the others? I don’t know. But I love it.

    • @donniejean
      @donniejean 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah I’m either tweaking or watching TH-cam :( I’m quitting the tweaking part, as it’s affecting my health, but I do have all the fancy modelers and they are complicated. Downloading firmware and blah blah. What is getting me back into it, is the Mooer Prime P2. The software isn’t too bad, lots of Japanese and different apps, which to me make it super confusing. But, it has some really easy, simple presets already installed, and I just found their native app which you can tweak them etc. The Bluetooth connectivity kinda sucks but you only need that to back it up or mess with settings. Plus it runs on rechargeable power! So at night all I need is headphones. It’s about the size of an iPhone maybe smaller. Now I’m just learning how to connect it to my Seymour powerstage 200 and out to a real cab. So two small devices and an iPad is all I need!

    When I'm recording, I typically use ML Sound Lab Mark V. I don't use presets, I dial in each time based on the song. Live, my son is using an old DigiTech RP1000 we bought at a pawn shop for $135. I've dialed in a number of tones to use live. Teen presets power Bank. One button and you have all the sounds you need for an entire gig in three or four presets. It sounds great too.

Best move I ever made. Not 1 more second of my life will be wasted spending month menu diving and dialing in tones and needing a friggn PhD to even understand the stuff. Made 1000s of dollars back and spent $700 on the 3 new pieces. I’ll add the BOSS IR pedal at some point. Great video.

    • @DavidSmith1307
      @DavidSmith1307 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Do you go out into a guitar amp or straight into front of house? The only thing that bother me about the ME-90 is the weird IR that you can't get round on the guitar output (where you have to specify Tube Amp, katana, 4x12, 1x12 etc).

    • @BAND-MAID-USA
      @BAND-MAID-USA 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@DavidSmith1307 I go front of house and powered monitor(s) I’ve never used in front of amp but I have heard the Amp Sim thing where it may not be turning off when you switch the back button to guitar instead of line. But I’ve heard from others that if you actually leave the switch on line, and go to front of amp it actually sounds normal. Which is the exact opposite of how it’s supposed to be. But I’ve heard a couple people say that it works in front of an amp that way.
      I have some amps and I plugged the entire unit into FX loop and it was mint. Funny that I never even tried it in front. I’ve also use it with my Boss Katana Artist combo and it was mint.
      I just like to use most of these devices thru an FrFr powered speaker. My Kemper and Quad Cortex I ran both thru cabinets, and also thru FrFr sometimes. But the ME-90 I mostly run thru FrFr speakers.

    • @BAND-MAID-USA

      @@thunderfootpower The TineX One is an absolutely AMAZING pedal, butI stopped doing that, looking for sounds thing. I use a clean preamp selection and the build it up how I like. An OD or Distortion on it. Or OD and Drive and distortion. Or I use the Fender amp preamp and build that. But I decided long ago I’m not going thru all of this chaos anymore. I need 4 sounds, which is plenty for anything. 1st channel is A killer clean with verb. 2nd channel a clean with Verb, Delay, Chorus. 3rd channel that’s hard rock with FX that are pretty laid back for fullness. And a 4th channel with an Arena type lead that’s pretty heavy on Delay, Verb, Chorus & whatever else I find. I use the FREEZE option a lot with the foot pedal. I use the DROP tuning a lot no more than a full step down, ( mostly just a half step down. ) I don’t even usually use any of the IR’s from Tone Studio, I’m getting the BOSS IR pedal for that. But realistically I’m down with menu diving and spending anytime on an app to play guitar ever again. When I use 1 of my amps I NEVER did that, and always sounded great. So basically my tones are. A great Fender amp like a Twin Reverb. My 2nd channel is basically like a Roland JC120 3rd channel is basically a Soldano 100 or Friedman BE-100. 4th channel is again 1 of those but with plenty of effects. I set the BOSS ME-90 up that way about 6 months ago and haven’t touched it sense. It’s great and the songs I write have everything they need with that setup. I do also use 2 ToneX One pedal but I recently unplugged them to use in a different way. But the ToneX One pedal with the ME-90 takes everything to a COMPLETELY different level. And I set all the amp and IR tones up on those in under 15. But to be honest, I still believe the BOSS Katana Artist combo is the best amp ever made. The MK2, not MK1. MK1 still sounds freakn perfect but, the way the effects share the same knob pissed me off. And the Contour control on the MK2 is amazing. Haven’t tried the MK3 version yet and probably won’t. If you REALLY want the best thing for the money, the Artist can’t be beaten by anything and the Waza speaker is probably the greatest speaker ever made. I see the MK2 all the time for $400 or a little less and it smokes EVERYTHING I’ve ever used. Get the MK2 Artist combo and the Boss GAFC-EX switcher pedal and you’re absolutely unstoppable. It’s the most amazing amp ever. I totally disliked the regular Katanas and got rid of them soon after I got them. But the Artist combo is the single greatest piece of gear I’ve ever used. And I use it more than any other stuff I have. But the ME-90 is absolutely insanely cool.

    One of the big things people tend to gloss over is support-not just in warranty but also firmware/software. Sometimes bugs can still be found within the code and they have to be fixed. Most of these things are so expensive and you don’t want to be left hanging due to a technical issue.

Today, I have a couple tube amps. 1 is a JOYO and setup the right way with my TONEX, I can literally get it to sound like the songs playing off the records. I also do not just use the TONEX, its incorporated into my pedal chain and running to the effects loops return so I get any amp I really want. With a pre amp pedal I can cheat and attenuator when I am running this same setup into the return of my 100 watt Marshall DSL and out of the Marshall 2X12 cab with my own speakers I chose. Pair that with an IR cab, and a EQ pedal in the chain, and the sky is the limit.

    shit, im rockin a positive grid bias head from 2018 that I picked up for $250 and I run it through my prs mt15s power amp into a mesa 1x12 rectifier cabinet and it sounds fucking great. ya aint gotta spend a zillion $$$ on a modeler to get good sound, dont get brainwashed lol. think i got $1100 or so into all of it. got the prs modded and everything. I mainly play at home and record with it and practice but you could run a bigger cabinet or direct to house straight from the bias head, i just like the prs power amp as it sounds a lil warmer to me especially with cleans but live nobody will notice shit.

    The plain and simple truth is that every one of these modern high end modelers are capable of incredible tones. Any claim that any one of them "sounds bad" is plain and simple ignorance. Sure some will have a preference for certain workflows or features but if the ultimate goal is professional quality tones that would suit any recording or live use then every platform featured in this video would achieve that with ease. The flip side of that, which people often forget is all these pedals are equally as capable of sounding terrible if dialed in badly. It ultimately comes down to learning that pedal's workflow and having a bit of knowledge how to dial in the tone you want. After that you can't go too far wrong with any of these pedals.

Of course, we content creators sometimes have to try to lure the audience into our videos, and for that, you have to be at least a bit hyperbolic, unfortunately. But yeah, we talked about all of that already, it is, what it is! But good to have that constant reminder, so folks: USE THE GEAR YOU HAVE! 🙂
