@@clidah4041 That’s what I’ve been doing for the most part, but I have noticed that my legs get tired before my lungs - if I’m really running for endurance; my lungs kind of get tired as a result of that. Doing something like running really fast in short bursts - like in soccer or something - completely gases out my lungs though, long before my legs.
Any suggestions besides just moderating my breathing? I usually go 4 steps in, 4 steps out, or 2 steps in and 4 out.

Honestly before I started running I couldn’t formulate those figures as I didn’t have a reference point. Attempting to break a 6 min mile right now and being exhausted (fairly fast runner) it is literally the most mind-bending athletic event across any sport to be able to maintain a 13 mph or 4:28 pace for not just 1 mile, but 26.2 (two hours)
Most people can’t maintain this pace for 10 seconds, and he did for 2 hours. It is literally something out of a comic book.

Dan Cater what you are failing to understand
Is I can do BOTH. I can run your mile in sub 5min, I’ve done it before. Took me 7months of focused training. I was stuck at 5:10 for a very long time. To break 5:00 was difficult for me, it took an all out sprint bc I weigh easily 30lbs more than you.
I have row’d your row, and run your run. I have taken it to the next level. That’s what I am saying.
Best of luck in your training. Bc my few reps of the box jumps completely Trump all the time and effort you are putting into your boring row. Beat yourself up all you want. I’m saying if you grew some balls you wouldn’t have to train so much to be in just as good, if not better shape, than you are now. That, is what I am saying. You are just at the beginning. You have much much more to learn.

@@owen246 I am currently at 7:35 as of my benchmark mile yesterday. I am down 35 seconds from last week's 8:10 benchmark. I am hoping that my goal date of August 4th gives me enough time to reach my goal.
Pairing running with a cleaner diet, I hope to lose weight and gain some confidence and discipline over the next few months.
I am 5'4", 162lbs, and at about 22% body fat. When I achieved my PR of 5:35 I was 5'4", 130-135, and probably around 14% (skinny fat) body fat.

I ran cross country and played baseball throughout high school, did both for my freshman year of college but then just decided to just play baseball. Best mile time (during xc season) was 4:50 and I weight around 155-160 the time I did it. Over 3-4 years of weight lifting for baseball I’m around 190. Now that I’m done with baseball I’m back into running but I was bummed that I didn’t think I would ever get back to that speed I used to have.
All that got smashed after watching this vid. This is nuts man, good luck with the training for Boston!

I'm 40 years old. 5'11". 199lbs. Doing marathon training now. I can do a sub 7 minute mile that I'm pretty happy about and hoping for a sub 4 hr marathon. I'm glad to see it's possible for a heavier runner to do so well. Gives me hope. Now if I can get some help with my sore calf problem that's been messing with me.

i started running bc my friends did it. i would run around my neighbourhood while my step dad rode his bike. i started with a 12:45 mile, and couldn’t even make it the entire mile. i joined cross country to run with my school’s team. i was in shape, but only upper body (obviously). then, 3 months later as the season was ending i had nearly halved my time. i had a 6:52 mile. it’s been 3 years, but i was never so proud of myself for cutting so much time in just abt 3 months.
