Two of my favorite singers and one of my favorite songs. Perfect combo!
Cash was a rare talent, and that's an understatement. He garnered respect not only from fellow country music artists, but from artists of every genre. He was the real deal, and he didn't change his music to fit the times... yet it always fit. Now... you can say the same thing about Willie, but I'm not gonna write it twice!

One of my Favorite versons was done by The Highwaymen in Nassau Coliseum in New York in 1990. Yes, Willie, Waylon, Cash and Kris K. I sent for the Dvd, Amazon of Course, The American Outlaws, The Highwaymen, 1990 Nassau Coliseum Live Concert. They had a Band Member Reggie Young? He's gone now, like Waylon and Cash 😢. But his Guitar Solo of Part of Ghost Riders Song was Fantastic! Boy I miss the 1970s 1980s 1990s , great times, Great Music!! 😢😢😮😮💔💔💔💕💗💕😊🥰🎶🎵🎶

There are still good musicians. They are just mostly obscure. These guys benefited from the Folk Revival back in the 1960s. No-one wants folk music today, but that doesn't mean there aren't many very excellent, unheard of bands doing wonderful stuff.

I'm with you...... It's often said nowadays BUT they just don't make 'em like these 'ol boys anymore. We are fortunate to have been able to enjoy them in person. I saw Willie a couple of years ago in concert and he still put on a great show.

Sadly much misery will happen before then, largely due to the contempt with which strong moral and ethical values are held. But people will eventually see what the "me" generation has wrought, and the struggle to return to where we started will commence.
Fantastic musicians, their personal lives does not make them ideal role models.
This is a song that takes me back to memories, not only the singers but of times with grandparents and so many that looked up to when younger.

A man named Stan Jones wrote this classic in 1949. Damn! did he spin gold or what! lyrically speaking. Hard to find a tune with truly great and memorable lyrics like Ghost Riders these days.

I saw Johnny and June twice in concert and Willie once, too.... loved each concert... Stage went dark as Johnny came out... The spotlight came on the man in black and he said, "Hello, I'm Johnny Cash" and started singing...no intermission... a 2 hr. concert.

I boo-Booed, I thought Ghost Riders was written in 1946, turns out it was finished in 1948. Recording of turned out in 1949. Burl Ives did one in 1949. Short while before I was born. To this song is one of the best ever written. I was so interged about Stan Jones, I went on Amazon, got a book about him, very interesting man. Got a CD of over 30 Artist singing Ghost Riders in The Sky. Even Tom Jones sang this song on a 1960s Country Album, he did. Song has got a great history. Done by so many, over 100, great singers. 👍This is based on a 1920s Legend by a man Capp Watts, in southern Arizona, near Mexico Border..Stan Jones was a boy when Capp Watts told him the Ghost Riders. Capp Watts died in 1932. When Stan Jones was 18 riding in Sulphur Springs Valley, Big Thunderstorm and Stan Jones visualized these Ghost Riders chasing these Red Eyed Cows in the Clouds. In 1946 Stan Jones started Writing Ghost Riders in the Sky finished it in 1948. On his sheet music he Wrote Riders in the Sky (A Cowboy Legend). The Legend of Ghost Riders started in Texas in 1889, based, on a factial Legend. There are 2 Utube Videos, about what happened in 1889, one i read today. A very tragic story. Man I'm pretty damn sure this song was written well before I was even born in 1983 but how timeless and masterful this piece is , nobody can ever replace Willie or Johnny, two of old school country's best country story tellers/performers to ever life. This song gives me chills and makes my hair stand up when I listen to it, there aren't many songs I sing the lyrics along to but this is definately one of them.

I had the pleasure of meeting Johnny Cash & his sweet wife June back some 29yrs ago in Pendleton, Or. What a pleasant couple they were & I feel very blessed to have shaken their hands! God Bless them both as they rest now, in peace!
My grandfather was a cowboy before WWI, he taught this song to my Dad who sang it to us kids as he milked the cows by hand. At 93 Dad is still on that farm and can still sing this.

I'm an unlikely country/western enthusiast, as I made my living in the grand opera (not to be confused with the Grand Ole Opry!), but I've been a country music lover since I was a young guy. Heck, I wanted to BE Johnny Cash. I have all of his albums in old-fashioned record format. Thanks for the video!
