I'm surprised & impressed that Chiklis pushed so hard to give his character the practical suit. It's always nice when a passionate fan gets cast; their opinions can really help out with those details. Honestly? I think the suit holds up pretty good. If they did it today, I think they could easily keep it practical, but add a bit of CGI here & there when needed.
I think it holds up so well BECAUSE it's practical and not CGI. Pretty much all CGI gets dated after a few years (Reed stretching for example). Practical effects always look just as good.
I wish we could get something as good as the ending of battleworld siege: giant thing is going towards doom castle, it makes a very loud sound that is indescifrable to the human ears, it turns out to be "it's clobbering time"

The thing suit is almost perfect. It needs a big rock eyebrow, and they needed to use some Lord of the Rings forced perspective shots to make him 8 feet tall.

You really have to appreciate how great of a job Ben does at editing these videos and capturing the personalities and humor of the boys, Jimmy and Nicky.
Things I like about these films: -The cast (save for alba) was perfect -The costumes. While they aren’t 100% accurate, they are faithful to the source material (looking at you 2015 Fan4stic with crash test dummy Doom). -The Thing -The chemistry between Johnny and Ben, they had some pretty good banter. -The Score by John Ottoman. It captures the adventurous and fantastical spirit of the F4 and if it was in a film where the four actually went through weird science adventures (going to space, finding Skrulls, etc) it would’ve been perfect. If they ever reboot the F4, keep the main theme.

What I like about (comics) Dr Doom is that his face scar was like a tiny little thing, but being a perfectionist it bugged him so much he got the mask, but when the mask was put on it was still hot so it burnt his face. I loved this movie as a kid. I was like 8-9 when this movie came out and my nearly 10-year-old brain LOVED the campy comedy melodrama with the weird use of powers in everyday life. It felt very much like playing with my dolls/action figures and everything was very personally motivated rather than "I'M HOLDING THE CITY FOR RANSOM! *FIGHT MEEEE!"* generic stuff. It was all about love and family and finding happiness after all this stuff went down. As a kid, this movie hit me PERFECTLY so I can't really hate it. It primed me for falling in love with the first Iron Man movie so hard as I grew.

I think one of the worst parts of the movie was how their suits bonded with their powers or whatever dumbass excuse they used for them being completely fire proof and able to turn invisible.
He’s meant to be a separate beast from him the Fantastic Four and setting him up would require a lot of runtime being taken away from the 4. They should’ve done some other villain and kept Doom for later or at least shown his accident and used Doom as sequel bait.
And the ironic thing about Doom's comic origin is, I believe, the lab accident didn't even mess up his face all that had, he's just that vain. It's when he puts on the mask while it's still hot like when you ignore the waiter about the plate being hot that does it.
Imao, I have a special story with this one I'm non stop producing metal music right now and making music videos and stuff mostly for rock and metal bands, all pretty much thanks to this movie On the dvd additionally to all the deleted scenes there were two music videos that were kinda complimentary to the visuals from the movie, one was from Ben Moody if I'm not mistaken and the other one from Velvet Revolver. The second band was pretty much my first exposure to hard rock music, the song was "Come On, Come In" and couldn't stop repeating it on that dvd. Couple of years after I asked my dad to buy me a guitar and the rest is history, I'm eternally grateful to this movie for everything I am doing nowadays

I really dont see how everyone hates this movie. Like it's no where near as bad as films of the same time like Daredevil, Elektra, Ghost Rider, The Punisher or Hulk. Even as a kid I didn't like them. But I will add, nostalgia plays a massive role in my opinion of this movie. This was like the biggest cinematic event of my childhood. I was around 8 when this came out and so even though I'd seen the first couple Spider-Man and X-Men movies I'd sort of missed the hype but this movie hit me at like the perfect time. I remember my mum showing me the advert on our shitty little tv for the 1st time and I just lost it. Even now I'll defend this movie. I know it's nowhere near the level of the mcu but I still really enjoy it
The best piece of footage in this video was Willy the mailman giving Johnny some mail from Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes because it reminded me that at least there's one pretty good Fantastic Four cartoon. Fun fact in that episode the Skrulls make a simulation of the Baxter Building that includes Reed's server room being full of delicious spaghetti, hanging from the walls and ceiling.
There's actually a blooper where they have Spider-Man cameo in the original(?) X-Men movie, and people went crazy over it, and when they mentioned Doctor Strange in the first Raimi Spider-Man movie, people went crazy over that too

You are right, Doctor Doom is one of the best comic characters of all time and the only one that all movie studios want to turn into something else, for some reason.
He's hard to adapt because his origin is separate from the 4 and can't be slotted in easily like say the Green Gobin's can.

Michael chiklis had to get therapy on set to deal with the claustrophobia of being in the thing suit.
He was the star of my favorite show The shield as a teenager and as a huge fantastic four fan I've watched many interviews and you can tell he's legit.
The Silver Surfer in the sequel was amazing to me at 13. He looks so cool and the voice is awesome.

I think one of the worst parts of the movie was how their suits bonded with their powers or whatever dumbass excuse they used for them being completely fire proof and able to turn invisible.

Earlier comic book films were ashamed of the more comic-booky side of these stories, so everything was watered down, even costumes (look at the X-Men)

He’s meant to be a separate beast from him the Fantastic Four and setting him up would require a lot of runtime being taken away from the 4. They should’ve done some other villain and kept Doom for later or at least shown his accident and used Doom as sequel bait.
And the ironic thing about Doom's comic origin is, I believe, the lab accident didn't even mess up his face all that had, he's just that vain. It's when he puts on the mask while it's still hot like when you ignore the waiter about the plate being hot that does it.
I prefer this one to the sequel, this is my favourite fantastic 4 movie but that's not saying much

I'm non stop producing metal music right now and making music videos and stuff mostly for rock and metal bands, all pretty much thanks to this movie
On the dvd additionally to all the deleted scenes there were two music videos that were kinda complimentary to the visuals from the movie, one was from Ben Moody if I'm not mistaken and the other one from Velvet Revolver. The second band was pretty much my first exposure to hard rock music, the song was "Come On, Come In" and couldn't stop repeating it on that dvd. Couple of years after I asked my dad to buy me a guitar and the rest is history, I'm eternally grateful to this movie for everything I am doing nowadays
I've got a similar experience with the Daredevil DVD. Reason why I got into music.

There’s something about the Micheal Chicless thing suit that just makes me so happy, the face is such a specific look, I love it.
As a kid I adored this movie, but now that I'm older, I can see why people didn't like it.

I really dont see how everyone hates this movie. Like it's no where near as bad as films of the same time like Daredevil, Elektra, Ghost Rider, The Punisher or Hulk. Even as a kid I didn't like them. But I will add, nostalgia plays a massive role in my opinion of this movie. This was like the biggest cinematic event of my childhood. I was around 8 when this came out and so even though I'd seen the first couple Spider-Man and X-Men movies I'd sort of missed the hype but this movie hit me at like the perfect time. I remember my mum showing me the advert on our shitty little tv for the 1st time and I just lost it. Even now I'll defend this movie. I know it's nowhere near the level of the mcu but I still really enjoy it
The best piece of footage in this video was Willy the mailman giving Johnny some mail from Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes because it reminded me that at least there's one pretty good Fantastic Four cartoon.
Fun fact in that episode the Skrulls make a simulation of the Baxter Building that includes Reed's server room being full of delicious spaghetti, hanging from the walls and ceiling.
