2018 Triumph Tiger 1200 XCa | Review

  • Meet the new Triumph Tiger 1200. Less weight, more responsive engine, more agile and as comfortable as an adventure motorcycle could be. And maybe more. It's not a completely new motorcycle, it's an updated version, but it was worth reviewing it - because the big Triumph Tiger was already a comfy adventure tourer and it just got better.

Great channel and probably best motorbike reviews on youtube. Intelligent review (as always) on what this motorbike is supposed to do : touring and Light off road. Does the 3 cylinders make the difference with his opponents and can it justify to buy it for this engine more than the others? Thanks you, buddies

First time viewer, I really like your review. I can tell it is very honest and from the heart. So hard to trust reviewers sometimes but I really liked your review of the bike. I am stuck between this one and the BMW version but I heard Triumph was doing better. Thanks for the review and keep up the good work...

Mike I am on the exact boat as you re.... Now if you compare the 3asy ride program at 5.99 APR ATM offered by BMW on a GS and a Tiger at 3.99 for 60 mos the difference is huge money wise. 300-325 for a GS without panniers Navigation and engine guards, whereas Tiger XCA 1200 you get the panniers, navigation for free, spotlights and crash bars. Plus If it's an 2018 you get it out of the door sub 20K. Triumph all the way....hahah

Seems like the consensus among all the reviewers is that it's great for road touring which is probably what 95% of buyers will stick to. Maybe the 800xca is a better all arounder?

Great report on the bike!!... just one thing... I wouldn't say that the bike has a massive fuel tank, it is only 20 lt, just seems to be bulky because of the side protection, which is on favour of the rider!!.
soon leaving my Super Tenere 1200 for this beautiful triumph... I did enjoy my yamaha for years, but unfortunately Yamaha has not cought up the ultimate tech to compite versus BMW, Ducati, Triumph, etc...

@@jblue1299 first thing i have to say is the great deal offered by @triumph_Salta.
They received my yamaha as part of the payment, the rest negotiated. 👍👍
Before the deal, i tried the triumph demos (800 and 1200). I have to tell you that there is a significant difference in all aspects of the bike, in comparison with my former yamaha.
About what i want the bike for? Well, in my case it will be for touring and long rides.
I checked several reviews and most of them point at triumph 1200 as best bike for this purpose.

I have to say, I was leaning towards getting this bike until this review. Great job with the review but it certainly wasn't a positive one. He was about as nice as possible to this bike without just plain old calling it not a great motorcycle. In my opinion this is exactly how you respectfully give a bad review because it leaves the fanboys thinking he gave it a good review but anyone who is really listening can see this dude does NOT like this bike. 1) Engine is "better than before but won't ....blow your mind" 2) They did a good job reducing the weight but "It's still too heavy and too top heavy" 3) The previous version was not known as a good off road bike and as long as you stay on the roads 90% of the time and only do "soft off road" then "this one is better but it wasn't built for off road" Ouch. Could it be any worse than that for a so called adventure bike? 4) he goes on and on about how many miles you get on a liter of fuel and clearly is not impressed and says "the engine is a thirsty one" and then goes on to say that the tank is too small (after calling it huge looking and feeling before) and says "if you are into highway riding you will find this annoying". 5) About those cornering lights that Triumph talks about non stop..."I didn't find them very useful, I didn't notice them in action...but...that (feature)...sounds cool" lol. 6) and finally "There is something I just don't like and that is the heat from the engine when sitting in traffic or city driving". He basically tore this Triumph a new one and did it with a smile lol. I'm most likely going with the BMW R1250GS which is too bad because this Triumph is cheaper, I have a local dealer (don't have a BMW dealer near me) and I like the looks of the Triumph more.

Don't pull the trigger untill you have tested one (TT 1200 ) for yourself!! I watched the comparison review between the KTM, the Triumph and the BMW, where two of them berate the Triumph. His colleague because it wasn't easy to WHEELIE and he preferred the BMW for it's refinement?! Neither of them tested the true Adventure/ touring capabilities of the Triumph, what was it like carrying a pillion or loaded with luggage?!! Many comments from previous BMW owners who had jumped ship, stated that the Triumph had more character, gave more of a Connection between bike/ rider and road!! For a heartfelt review on the Triumph look up MotorBike TV Triumph TIGER 1200 XRT REVIEW, he might just make you realise, that a good review is only given, by someone who genuinely has an interest in how a bike performs the task it was designed for, and the connection/ feedback felt whilst reviewing it?!! You yourself have given an excellent review of the underlying negativity of this review, why then ignore that intuition and follow the "fanboy mentality" ? I believe there are recalls on the BMW 1250 GS, might be worth investigation and a Rethink?!!

You heard what you wanted to hear. These bikes are the two wheeled versions of Range Rovers. Most riders will never explore more than a fire road with them. This man is a world traveler. His opinion should be respected; but taken with a grain of salt. If he "tore this Triumph a new one", he do so from the perspective of a man that pushes his adventure bikes harder than 99% of the riders on Earth.

    • @suburbanhobbyist2752
      @suburbanhobbyist2752 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@traeucity6087 I see your point. And, that is that most of us will never use these bikes for true adventure riding so why would we care how capable they truly are in that regard. This guy does use these bikes in that way so he is going to point out their shortcomings as they relate to actually using them in true off road environments.
I would say that he definitely tore Triumph a new one in this review. I pointed out all the various digs/dislikes he made so I don't see how anyone could question that he did otherwise.
I would also say that most people, even though they will not be using these bikes at anywhere near their intended capacities (as you pointed out) and, therefore, do not need anywhere near those levels of capabilities, we still WANT them to have and be able to actually do it all and do it well.

Don't tell us that it's not as great off-road as the big KTM's or the GS, when you are on dirt with road tires. Amateur mistake, and misleading for the viewers.
Yes I know you said it's missing the knobby tires and said "but that's not the problem". It is, how could a 250 kg bike feel great on dirt when you barely have any grip whatever movement you do? Of course, it will feel heavier and not that agile.
