    I have an Explorer XRx but before I tried the Gs Adv and the Multistrada 950.
    The tri-cylinder engine, design, sound and standard equipment won.

    I own the 2018 Tiger 1200 XRx Low. Had it 2 years now. 22,600 miles all my own. On road and off-road (loose gravel, packed gravel). The Tiger does it all. The power band is everywhere. And above 7,000 rpm, she screams for more. I looked at the GS when I made my purchase. Similarly equipped GS was US$5,000 more. I got heated grips, cruise, all aluminum luggage boxes, heated seat, LED auxiliary lighting. Very happy on the US Interstate system, too at 70+ MPH. I probably would have loved the GS, too, but too many $$$ up front and for maintenance. My Tiger is very low maintenance. Love it. Only 1 warranty issue: one LED aux light went out. Gets 50+MPG when I drive sanely. 44MPG when I drive aggressively. 230 mile range on fuel.

    Great review of both bikes. I live in Australia and we have so many different types of roads, that having an adventure bike allows a rider to fully explore this country to the max. Keep up the great work fella's. Stay safe.

    I think the 2009 last air cooled bmw boxer engine was the best of that era. And then the bmw gs from 2017 is the best till now. Love the troupe also. Fantastic design. Great smooth engine .

    Very good job & video guys. I agree with you guys, I have GS and is perfect for trips even in the city is very good. But I have noted also that the Triumph have a better engine is more smooth than the GS.

    Nice review but I think the propensity for road testers to be somewhat more svelt than the average rider means the review cant tell the full storey. I came off a KTM 1290 which buggered my back and left knee onto the Explorer. I was expecting the weight of the Triumph to show but frankly cant see what all the fuss is about with so many testers out there making an issue of it.
    It didn't feel feel heavy, was as easy if not more so to trundle around town than the KTM and was as easy as anything I've ridden including the GS to hustle around the twisties. Cost is also an issue, basic GS comes with wheels and a light or you can have one with everything. Triumph add the good bits to all but the lowest spec bike and the top of the range is cheaper in direct comparison to the BMW. Testing the GS again next week but I bet a pound to a penny I will be going straight to the Triumph dealer down the road to place an order soon after. And yes I am middle aged and fat.

    Engine and gearbox of tiger expl are immensely BETTER. Anyway i don't believe that the difference of weight is 30 kilos. Another comparative in fauvor of gs 1200 (one of two journalist was a gs owner...) TIGER IS THE BIKE FOR DOING 1200 KMS IN TWO UP AND REALLY FULL LOADED. Standard equipment of tiger 1200 are complete and the quality / price ratio is in favor ( BIG FAVOR) of TIGER.

    Shouldn't you be comparing the GS Adv with the Triumph for a fair comparison? Bearing in mind the current problem with GS fork tubes that BMW aren't exactly being helpful about, if the BMW is weak in the forks because the weight has been kept down, then I'd rather have a heavier Triumph.

    Sorry, it isn’t a fair comparison. The big TRIUMPH should start against BMW GS1200 Adventure! The weight is nearly the same, but the costs are much higher at BMW. How much do you get when compared it only with the little GS?

    • @fabiena1787
      @fabiena1787 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, that's an easy one (compared to the 1260). Off-Road : 1290, fast roads : 1290, twisty roads : 1290, reliability : 1290, ergonomics : 1290, price (when similarly geared) : 1290. Fuel range : MTS. Ok, I'm a bit biased :-)
      But yeah ! You're so right, I cannot get why this amazing channel never puts a KTM against the competition. It seems that BMW is a strong support of them. Gentlemen agreement ?

    In my opinion it was not a balanced review, we did not need to know that the presenter has a BMW R1200GS, that gives a hint for which bike is going for, and did at the end. I am a GS rider, but feel that there was info missing from both bikes such as suspension and forgot to say that the Triumph Tiger Explorer compares to the GSA as of the weight. compares gearbox but does not explain the differences. the rest explained is good info such as the ease of windshield use on the fly on the Triumph and the use of the bikes riding modes while riding and on & off procedures.

  • @danietruter866
    @danietruter866 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Would the price influence your decision? If the Tiger was a 1/3 rd cheaper than the GS - would the Triumph then be a better option - or is price not the same as value?

    • @DriveMagRiders
      @DriveMagRiders  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's about having the right bike. You see, if you're more on the touring side and don't care about going off-road, it's the Triumph. No matter the price. Else, it's the BMW, which offers better balance. The price wouldn't influence my decision. Cristian

    I had a test on the Exp a while back,and didn't really notice the weight issue?? I did notice how 'sporty' it felt for a big adv style. I would consider one,or the 1050 Sport?

    The GS 1200 is an excellent running bike for 3 years, then the warranty expires and the GS begins to fall apart, at this point the GS becomes very very expensive to own!

    great concept and, I'm sure, a lot of money behind you and your work. It's nice that somebody trust you and the Romanian market with it. It' s just not right at this point. You guys should told us something else than what we find in the dealers shop. You are talking a lot about the menu, configurations of settings and how the buttons work. What's next? appreciating the colour? We get this at a dealer.
    Tell us how the suspension works in different conditions, how's the braking system on wet and normal weather, cold and hot temperature. tell us the reall stuff a biker needs to know before spending that much money on a bike. That's why we follow people that have a chance to test a bike and review them.
    You will get there eventually but ain't good right now.
    Sorry for telling you this, but I watch you for a while, you know who I am so I'm not hiding myself behind a screen, take my feedback and deal with it. Maybe you can improve. now I wouldn't buy a bike based on your advices on how to go through the settings menu.
    accept that experience comes with time.
    Good luck!
    PS: your english it's good but you are using the Trump's kind of a speech: very good, very nice, very, very, very
    the other kid seems to speek a good english as well but difficult to get the meaning of what he's saying

    • @oso1165

      sadly this is how most motorcycle "journalists" do reviews; they get free test rides and hotels and dinners from manufacturers so their "reviews" end up being glorified advertisements.
