    I live in Blackpool and worked at the pleasure beach for 4 seasons, from 1999 until 2003, when I left to go into security. I have made friends with others that worked there, one of whom we are so close, we are like sisters, and I met my ex husband, working there. Between the ages of 17 to 21, where the happiest days of my life, working there. Thank you for posting this

    Wow. We used to stay in Lytham st Anne's and go to Blackpool for a day in absolutely loved it (this was in the 70s. In the October school holidays we used to set of to Blackpool mid afternoon arrive in Blackpool teatime then we'd go to the pleasure beach for a while then go to fish and chip restaurant then we'd drive the full length of Blackpool front in the dark to marvel at the illuminations. Happy days.

    9:44 that arcade on right, a year after this was shot I found the game Starhawk in there and was blown away at how fantastic a TV screen could be... black & white vectors eh... of course Star Wars had just happened which turned me into a geek and what with my parents coming from Blackpool regular trips would occur where I would often venture to the arcades first... staring into the glow of those fascinating screens... then 1980 happened and the proliferation of the silicon chip & then bingo... everything starts to... get weird.

      @@purplesunflower8242 you do realise how many unnecessary deaths have been saved by this evil beast "Health and Safety"? Deaths at work have reduced significantly over the period since the Health and Safety Act 1974 was introduced, from around 4,400 to around 200 over the course of the 20th Century, further reducing since the year 2000 to a total of 100 in the latest year. Amazing film and a remarkable piece of social history brilliantly captured. Had many happy holidays in Blackpool in the 60s and 70s. The quality of the images in places could easily be mistaken for 16mm, it is simply stunning and shows the fantastic quality that super 8 can achieve. Having live sound as well adds that extra dimension that makes all the difference. Hearing the sounds from around the pleasure beach really showcases what the sound cameras were designed to do. I had a super 8 sound camera back in the day but I never really used it to its full potential like in your film. Thank you for uploading.

    I seem to remember that a sound camera could cost from £250- £600 and 3min 20sec sound 50th Super 8m/m film cartridge would cost around £12 with processing included.

    I was 21 in 1977 and holidayed in Blackpool that summer with my family.Man that ride "The monster" was brilliant,best ride in the pleasure beach..happy memories.Alas I've not been there since the eighties ..heard it's not good for families anymore ,full of druggies and Strags and hens getting drunk etc.Shame.

      Actual Pleasure Beach and the attractions and the Promenade, no. Pleasure Beach is like a theme park now. It's great. And the front is beautiful. A lot has been invested. Don't judge if you haven't been there, go there yourself before you express and opinion based off someone else's tale.

    • @AndrewKeyz
      @AndrewKeyz 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Was there for a 5 day holiday in the summer last year whilst the weather was amazing. Felt like being in Spain. Didn't see a single stag or hen do. Didn't see any drug use. Didn't see anyone getting drunk. Doesn't mean to say it doesn't happen but then it will happen in my local town too. I just don't tend to venture into the areas of town and times where and when that happens. Saw plenty people having fun at the Pleasure beach and seafront enjoying themselves, exactly like in this video.

    What a wonderful film, I really enjoyed watching it. Was it shot on super 8 film? If so it is a real bonus having the sound to go with it, pretty rare back then I should think. This is the Pleasure Beach as I remember it, thanks for sharing your day there all those years ago with us. It was almost like being there, like a time traveller. Brilliant.

      I'm glad that you enjoyed my home movie, it was shot of Super 8, most camera companies sold sound cameras in the mid 1970's but they were quite expensive.

      Hi Simon,
      It was a home movie Super 8m/m sound camera, they came out around 1974, there was a magnetic sound stripe on the film and the camera had a built in microphone on the top. Glad that you enjoyed my movie.

    • @simonskipsey5017

      Hi Mackenzie, Thanks very much for your reply. Oh right that's cool, I was born in '77 & didn't realise that u could buy cams with sound. Was The Revolution a new ride back then do you know? Thanks again

    • @mackenzierough
      @mackenzierough  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, is it for a non profit production? I just got taken for a fool when I let someone use my footage for what I thought was a private/student project so didn't charge him a fee, now I find that his film is being released in London's West end cinemas! Can you please give me full details about your production please?

    • @ThemeParkCrazy
      @ThemeParkCrazy 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will be monetized, and I will be more than happy to compensate you for its usage. I am sorry that you were deceived in the past and I have no intention to do the same. To go in depth, it is for a video about the past coasters at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. I plan on only using the Wild Mouse footage between 1:51 and 2:41. I will be using the video but not the audio. How much will the fee be?

    • @mackenzierough
      @mackenzierough  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, I normally charge €25 per second for commercial use for TV stations etc and provide a full HD file to download from Vimeo, my minimum fee is €120, why don't you make me an offer? You can email me on ian.rough@yahoo.com Kind regards Ian Rough.

    • @ThemeParkCrazy

      I understand. Although I cannot currently afford that, I appreciate you getting back to me and I respect your rights to your footage. A friend of mine also informed me that he has his own footage of the ride, so I will use that. Thank you for your response and I wish you well. Sincerely, Peter DiDonato.
