Just wish I could swim in the Derby baths and open air pool today. I miss the amusements that are no longer there, the Reel, Log Flume, Monorail, Cable Cars, and my favourite of all, enjoying all day in brown or grey stockingfeet at the Fun House.
I was 16 in 1977 and went to stay with relatives in Fleetwood and got a job working at the pleasure beach for the season... it was a great time in my life and Blackpool was fantastic back then... 👍
What a wacky and wonderful parade, which was presumably for the Queen's Silver Jubilee in 77. Most of those floats would not pass health and safety muster today though! A smashing piece of nostalgia. Only 44 years ago and yet it looks and feels like another universe!
Brilliant video - love it! Bits of the video are more like 1979/1980 as opposed to 1977 given that Dr Who is seen right at the end of the video with a Mandrel, which never appeared until 'Nightmare of Eden', first broadcast Nov-Dec 1979 😊
@@johnrobertson8263 They don't want us to have fun, and what fun we have left means we have to jump through loads of hoops, be watched like a hawke by CCTV cameras and security and be treated as potential criminals.
Nice video, not many punks on view then, but you had to be quite brave to be a punk in them days. Just think, 19yrs on and the place would be full of punks for the 1st holidays in the sun weekend!
Brought back so many happy memories from far happier times. Thank you for posting.
To return to those times, indeed I would. And in a heartbeat.

I was ten years old then and we went in July and was hoping I might see my family.
Happy times and thanks for showing us this precious film.
Great times .... no mobile phones and folk look happy and healthy 😊
I was only 6 years old thanks for the beautiful memories❤
I was 6 back then when Blackpool was great in the 70s and 80s as a kid still my favourite place to go
Will somebody please hurry up and invent the time machine. Whatever they have done to Blackpool I want to go back to how it was then.
Fun times have gone , never see people happy anymore
I have my picture sat on the goldmine bench as a kid in 1978

We can do without the queen and the royal family. And where are they, they seemed to have done a runner.
Awww happy memories with my family
Fantastic footage should be in a museum about the history of Blackpool

Kids happily jumping on a trampoline with no net around them and no little Hitlers in a hi vis jacket anywhere keeping their beady eye on everyone.
No fun anymore
