Back in the 60's Blackpool seemed such a magical place. it still pulls them in, year after year, But I have so many fond memories of this town in the 60's.

Thanks for this, wonderfull memories, I was born in Blackpool in 1949 so I would of been 12 year old and it was great to go back , notice how thin and fit people were, notice the great business being done by all and sundry , notice two shilling and sixpence for adults and one and sixpence for children people cared for families with children, notice suprisingly ,two black persons, I was 14 before I ever saw a black man, he was a tattooist on the golden mile---Reginald Dixon on the Wurlitzer ( that is him playing on your clip) a free concert given every day in the Tower concert hall , huge queue every day to get in, toffee apples sixpence and so much more ,Blackpool was great when ENGLAND was great ,Tommy Trinder , you lucky people, that was his catch phrase, it was funny because it was ironic most of the adults had harsh war memories ,Tommy Trinder was chairman of Fulham football club I said halo Mr Trinder to him at a Blackpool Fulham game about this time ,he winked and said halo lad, I was proud, told my Mum and Dad ,don't know why I am crying perhaps it is for something special that has been destroyed so unfairly---anyway thanks for posting will keep it and show my grandchildren

When Blackpool was magical not like today with fond memories of the Tower, old green trams, donkey rides elephants, eating candy floss and ice cream, the Golden Mile, three piers, slot machines, enjoying the Fun House in grey stockingfeet on the old school Pleasure Beach and all the other rides some no longer there.

Hi Stephen and John What a wonderful lovely film. Not only does it bring back happy memories of weekends at Blackpool with my late father but of visiting the Tower Ballroom many times and listening to the one and only Reginald Dixon at the Wonder Wurlitzer.
Hope you are both keeping well in these difficult times and that we'll meet up again in future.
Much Love and Best Wishes from this old organ grinder in the Rhondda Valley! Take care, PAUL.

I remember the fountain at Stanley Park, used to go regularly to Blackpool and St Annes. They did Miss England in the park once and put a walkway over the water and fountain. That would probably be in the 70's

Very nostalgic. I went there in 1958 with my family and it looked just like that. We went on a train of course and I remember the crowds. Very exciting for an eleven year old. Thanks

I was 4 when this film was made, But I can still remember being put into the sea for the first time by my dad, He told me you have to sink, or swim, I sort of screamed and swallowed quite a bit of sea water, But It taught me one thing, If something looks exciting, is not always true !

How times have changed. Everyone dressed respectfully: no hoodies, shell suits, suggestive offensive T shirts and not a single male or female 'overweight blimp ' waddling about. Well thought out organ accompaniment to complete a slice of life that will never return.

I really do think the downhill has been deliberately made that way by our governments. Can't really blame the people, but I think people have been socially engineered and manipulated, not least through the culture we live in; drugs, poverty, lack of jobs, alcohol, etc.
