    The use of the basting stitch is everything. I can do 2aat from toe up, but struggled with the top down. The basting stitch and the crochet cast own is GREAT! Thanks!

    This was a wonderful tutorial. As if basting the first round wasn't fabulous enough, tethering the socks at the side seams was just plain brilliant. Another why-didn't-I-think-of-that moment. Thank you bunches!

    Funny story: I took a sock knitting class at my local yarn shop and the first socks I ever knit were two at a time magic loop 🤪 it was a lot for a beginner but the extra help from a teacher helped and obviously, I still love sock knitting so it worked out 😊

    Since the cast-on of TAAT socks can be fiddly, I like to prepare each toe [or cuff] separately and when I have both toes [or cuffs] established, I then Ioad them onto one long circular needle in the correct order and continue to work the rest of the socks TAAT. :-)

    • @iHeartYarn
      @iHeartYarn  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lol! That is exactly what I did until I finally figured out how to cast on with the single needle! In the end, do what works. 😁

  • @brokahontis62
    @brokahontis62 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I love your beginning technique! Keeping your cast on on the needles then basting them. You keep the socks from sliding all over the cable making the beginning process so much easier. Your stitch markers holding the socks together in spots is fantastic! You've set up sock knitting for stress free beginnings. And your basting technique for cast on rows are applicable to knitting on one or two cable needles. All of your techniques pretty much nip laddering in the bud! I knit two pairs of socks long ago on magic loop with worsted weight yarn. Getting into sock knitting now and running into problems starting with fingering weight yarn. Time for a worsted weight practice pair on my 47" cable needles following your instructions. Including your crochet cast on. Now I'm excited again about knitting socks on a regular basis! Thank you so much!

    I made a pair of DK socks on a SINGLE needle w/Magic Loop. It took a little finagling while doing the gussets/heels, AND I figured it out! So much easier than doing two separate socks!
    LOVE your crochet cast-on! Will give it a go and see how well I can do it.
    Never thought of doing a basting line for the socks. Another cool thing to do!
    Thanks for sharing the genius of your mind!
    I like that I also do continental knitting, so I can easily follow your instructions.

    Thanks for this video. Did magic loop 2aat and found the gusset step confusing/frustrating due to having to decrease on adjacent stitches that are on the other side of the loop. So I ended up taking off one of the socks to work on the gusset and heels separately.

    • @iHeartYarn
      @iHeartYarn  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      To each his own - if doing it that way for that part of the sock gets you to your goal, it's still a sock you love in the end! 🙂 Thanks for watching!

    Great way to cast on for 2 at a time socks. I usually do on sock cuffs put it on holders then cast on the second. After that I transfer them to the same needle Your way is easier

    Can you knit two mittens with this technique?

    • @iHeartYarn
      @iHeartYarn  26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I have never made mittens myself, but I don't see why not. The only complication I can think of immediately would have to do with the thumbs - you might do the main sections of the mittens 2@aT, and magic loop each thumb separately. Give it a try and please let me know how it works out! (Funny thing, btw - I hated mittens as a kid. Always preferred gloves. But as an adult, I find myself wanting to try mittens again, especially the kind that fold back for when you need your fingers. Maybe I'll try a pair along with you.) :)

    Why i stopped doing two sleeves at a time because i usually make mistakes and have to unravel the first one. So after my own mistakes i decided one sleeve at a time is less work later

    • @iHeartYarn

      Yes, normally for socks I do. And I really like twisted rib for sock cuffs. For this video I concentrated more on just showing how to work across sections of a 2 @ A Time project.
