Sharing is caring. Kudos to you, and your mom, for sharing your knowledge. Some people covet information for very peculiar reasons, but not you! I refer back to your videos often and appreciate your willingness to teach. Thank you for all that you do for the knitting community.

Just found your video and enjoyed watching it. Learned how to do the long tail cast-on in rib.
I had taught myself how to knit two socks at once on magic loop, but do it a little differently, so there is no need to transfer stitches.
First ball, CO half the stitches. Second ball, CO all the stitches and divide in half with stitch marker like you do in your video.
Now, picking up the first ball, CO the remaining half of stitches as you show after you've transferred your stitches.
By doing half first, the stitches are already on the correct needle, with the working yarn where it needs to be for the rest of the CO; there is no need to transfer them.
Enjoy your style of teaching and will be watching more of your videos!
Thank you for sharing your passion!

Just came your video today and it's the best one I've seen for 2 socks at a time. I've just started today my first sock... thank you so much. Most tutorials just confuse the hell out of me, but your video is clear and precise... thank you. I also have the second sock syndrome... now that's solved.

I would like to congratulate you for your cleverness and patience! You're beautiful! I really like the idea of doing two at a time, but , for a guy who is an aircraft mechanic, I believe that I will buy a second circular needle, and work on one for a while, then work on the other. Also, I don't know if Magic Loop would be practical when knitting by the Norwegian method, (which I learned from Arne and Carlos). My Mother taught me to knit like you do, but I didn't keep it up, because I couldn't stand to keep throwing the yarn with my forefinger. Maybe it's men's penchant to want to do things as simply as possible. I have to marvel at your patience, and I am so glad that there are women on this planet. Thank-you!

If you load half the stitches for one cuff on first, then do the whole of the other - with a magic loop midway, then you can do the second half for the first cast-ons and not need to move from needle to needle!

For joining, add an extra stitch and transfer to other needle. Then first stitch to join will be k2 together or purl two together

I so know what you mean about making a matching socks /mittens. I recently tried toe up and then realized if I need to adjust the length later (for someone else) it is impossible for toe up. Back to top down.

My first pair of socks were toe up 2aat. Now I’m trying to learn top down 2aat. Might I suggest Happee Knits? This is very cool. How she did hers. I’m giving it a try!

Thank you for this video! You have a clear and easy way to make two-at-a-time socks. I appreciated knowing that the chaos in front of me was part of the process and it has gotten easier and less messy as the sock grows. I don't think I'll be going back to DPNs for socks in the near future!

I suggest you try ChiaoGoo Twist red lace interchangeable circulars. First they come in 37" & 50" cables with 4" or 5" tips ( stainless or bamboo) They have no memory and don't coil up. Try them please.

Wow! Terrific video! I decided to teach myself to knit after a lifetime of crochet. I have been slowly watching more and more adventurous videos and I cast-on my first sock this evening. Yes, just 1 bc I’m having an equipment issue. When I tried to pull the cable through the halfway point of the first cast-on, it doesn’t work, they are too stiff and I tried with 3 different brands inexpensive, midway and a top brand. What needles are you using? I understand that product “endorsements” can be touchy when no specific agreement exists, but I noticed how easily that pulled out between the 2 halves. When I tried even the top brand was too thick and messed up my cast-on stitches
Happier note: your video was an absolute joy to watch? It was one of the very best I’ve seen for 2-at-a-time socks (& I’ve been looking because I wanted to do it right and not get frustrated). You explained carefully and went slowly enough that I could watch and figure out what you’ were doing on the first time through. And I love your style! Heraldic trumpets are a personal fav. You obviously love knitting, teaching and having fun. Thank you.

Thank you for your video, I’ve learnt a new ribbed cast on. I won’t put anyone else’s video on your video but there is an easier way for the second set of stitches. (Ie a second set of socks) You just cast on your total cuff stitches on DPNs, divide evenly on a second DPN and transfer and you have an identical pair, without the needles not being in the right direction and casting on more... Job done. But great video.

Love the colors in your socks! IS there a way to make the stripes even so that side by side the stripes are the same? thanks.

    • @AuroraTalksKnit
      @AuroraTalksKnit  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Grace George Yes! Once you switch colors, knit one round with the new color. Then, on the first stitch of the SECOND round, slip that first stitch! That will prevent the jog!
