Excellent video, brief and informative with a delightful cutting edge humor. Thank you for the help and the laughs. The zip tie tip was a bonus for me. Next time take off the wheel at a lower level and then lift the car higher, your back will thank you for it. A lesson I learned awhile back hahaha. Thanks again Summer!
Thank you so much! Glad it was helpful and that I could provide a laugh or two, even if only at the expense of my back haha. I will definitely be taking your advice next time!
Also props to you but I am a guy and currently rocking Pandemic pony tails while working on my cars. If I got a dollar for every time I got my hair caught between the wheel well, I would be disqualified for the stimulus check...
@@Typho0nify hahah!! I do not wish it on anyone, but I’m glad I’m not alone! Mine get stuck in just about everything, especially all the dash components coming out of the miata, that was an instant kind of rage. I’m so glad you enjoyed, thanks for watching and subscribing!
@@summerdelsol Right?! I am working my 370z and it sucked. Not only I had to weirdly wedged myself upside down to work under the dash electrical, I had to wear a cap so my hair don't get caught. Stay safe!
Great instructional video with hilarity all along the way! "There's the manicure I've been talking about..." LOL Thank you! For anyone who needs this information, the 22 mm bolts that Summer said were difficult to remove - the ones that attach the calipers to the car require 98 ft. lbs. The smaller bolts with the pin attached require 20 ft. lbs. (These torque specs apply to the two-piston front calipers on the 2nd Gen Sedans. Other variants may differ.)
Thanks so much for watching, and so glad you enjoyed it!! Hahah I'm just glad anyone out there thinks I'm funny, and thanks so much for sharing the specs above as well!!
So...wonder why there are no videos of the all wheel drive version...you clearly are doing the procedure on a rwd. Would’ve been nice to know in advance.
I don't think there is a difference. I have a 2012 G37 X and this was exactly how it was on mine. The only difference is I had to bang a rubber mallet on the rotor for 10 minutes to break it free. Edit: I also needed a C clamp to push the brake piston back, mine did not want to slide back on as easily.
Don’t skip this video...I will know...funny. Amazon sells a hanger for the calipers...simple S hook...one end to a coil spring, the other to the caliper...best $7.00 bucks and universal fit. Caliper bolts SHOULDNT be that tight but mine was. Whomever replaced rear brakes before me gorilla torqued the caliper bolt...... The old pad is a good idea. I used the old pads and compressed one side at a time...slow and steady wins the race....the ides is to flush the caliper piston inside the cavity to make up the difference in thickness between the old pads and new ones. If you don’t have electric parking brake much easier for the rears. Great video professional, not overly technical and entertaining...
Hey, thanks so much! I appreciate the input, and I'll definitely take your advice on the caliper hanger, that was obnoxious trying to work without it. I'll definitely put it to good use on the miata!
Infiniti was easy.....try to Sumo Wrestle Audi 18” or any European vehicle tires.....at least Infiniti have the studs as part of the hub..... Another Shameless Amazon plug...Tire Trees for European vehicles....they thread in like lug studs but only are there to get the first two or three lug studs aligned and threaded....after that you remove the tire trees and thread the other lug studs as normal.
@@kbstwn2433 cheers! Yeah, with the car so far off the ground and dropping it the third time I was over trying to tighten the clamp and hold the old pad in place at the same time haha
Nice vid. Straight to the point. A few tips for those tackling this for the first time. Turn the wheel out towards you for better view and access of bolts. Use the old brake pad to press in both pistons at the same time. Clean and regrease the slide pins before tightening the caliper bolts.
It’s definitely not a bad idea to flush the system, but if you check the fluid and it looks good (original brake fluid color, not dark or discolored) it’s not a must. It really depends on the last time it was flushed, and if it hasn’t been flushed since replacing the pads/rotors it’s probably a good idea to go ahead and do it.
Hmm, not sure on this one. I never came across any while taking it apart, nor did I see any in my research for the repair. Maybe it's a particular model design?
Great video. Always use your leg to push down on lug nut wrench. Saves your back and is way easier to loosen and tighten lugnuts since or leggs are much stronger than our arms..and why didnt you install drilled rotors?
Hahah definitely doing that going forward. It was my mom's car and she wanted it done with trustworthy, but cost efficient, parts. While I think she could tear it up, she's not currently a race car driver- just yet! Thanks for watching!
Who's the one ass that downvoted this vid? I'm going to assume brakes are very similar on the M series and use this video when I do them this summer. I don't have a fancy shop with a lift.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Can't win 'em all! I would imagine so, but definitely be sure to look up some specific info for it. Should be smooth sailing though! Honestly this is better to do without a lift, I just happened to work in a shop at the time that had one, which was much better for getting camera angles throughout the process. Otherwise I would have done it on some stands. My back was pretty tight for a week after this haha.
Definitely saved for when I'll have to get new rotors and pads for my '08 G37S coupe (eventually)...it only has 33,000 miles on it for a 2008, so I think I have a while before rotors are going to need to be replaced and had brand new pads put on less than a month before I bought it.. And not wanting to pay Infiniti's service department like 4x what it costs to do what I can do myself. I have Akebono brakes on mine so it may be different, and I'm sure it'll be more expensive, but whatever... Fun cars cost money to keep running. I'm lucky to have a friend with a garage that has a lift. PS: I had to laugh when you mentioned the wheel weighing more than a Miata, as I work on my mom's Miata half of the time she needs anything done, and you're about right when it comes to Infiniti wheels, especially the 19" ones.
Glad you liked it! Yeah, your model is a little different, but should definitely still be doable! A friend with a lift is definitely a great perk too! Hahah it's so true, those wheels are chunky! Thanks for watching, hope it helps with points of reference for yours!
Lol wow I wish I saw this video 72 hours ago! I just took mine to get the exact same done cuz I didn’t understand the death clip thing 😂😂😂 well this will be saved ! You should do a BBK conversion video lol I need that explained next 😂
Oh no!! Well hopefully it can come in handy going forward! Haha thankfully my mom isn't too aggressive while driving, otherwise I might have to upgrade her to those!
Awesome video. Have you ever thought of obtaining an A&P license ? You would make a great aircraft technician. I’m with cargo and the starting pay is $41 topping out at $65 an hour. Cars are awesome most people just don’t think about aircraft. If you have any questions feel free to reach out.

The pins are all one piece instead of being a pin and a bolt that screws into it.
