For those wondering : Asterix basically is to France what Mickey Mouse is to the USA ( 65 years of comic books and counting, even got his own massive amusement park) Alain Chabat is in charge of this series, he was also in charge of the only good live action one (the others are trash) among other things. Half of the story of "the Big Fight" has already been adapted in the late 80's mixed with another adventure. Also it's AsteriX and ObeliX, not asterisque and obelisque, these are just french words.
This looks awesome. However, I'd wish they would explore a new Asterix story that hasn't already been adapted in animation. Asterix has like 40 comic stories, and only 10 or 11 animated films.
1:20 OMG I’m French and I’ve never heard that this show was distributed in other countries, it’s so great and the animation is honestly really good for this kind of TV series
As a french person we're sooooo thrilled to see this! Especially cause it's made by Alain Chabat (Astérix & Obélix : Mission Cléopâtre is an absolute classic here, truly on of the best french movies ever made) If you want to see more of it, Alexandre Astier (beloved actor/comedian/director as well) made two amazing animated movies alongside Louis Clichy (Pixar animator on Wall-E/Up) called "Asterix : Le Domaine des dieux" and "Asterix : Le secret de la potion magique" visually they are very similar to the upcoming Netflix adaptation! I truly hope you'll enjoy this as much as we do, Chabat's (and Astier) take on Astérix & Obélix are truly unmatched! (Give the french version a chance as well, acting/voice acting on these particular projects are absolutely amazing)
I absolutely recommand you to watch the two films produced on Asterix by Alexandre Astier, in the exact same style. Those films are absolutely hilarious for me. Anyway, great to see that above seas, there are people excited by this franchise 👌
@JerTheRobot don't know if that's the case for you, but it looks like they are available on amazon prime video. The first film is Mansion of the Gods, and the second one is The secret of the Magic Potion. Hope this helps !
Asterix and Obelix is one of those series that are always just on the border of popularity, but has enough fans to keep going forever. This is a comic known to mostly Europeans.
I actually read seeing a copy of Asterix and Obelix in my school library as a kid and a kid was borrowing it, I just hope Netflix treats this property better than how they did Ultraman recently...I want a sequel for that film so bad.
Asterix and the Gauls thrashing the Roman legionnaires with the stylized effect and onomatopoeia that gets closer to the original comics has the same vibe as the fusion between _The Peanuts Movie_ and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
When I told my mom about this new adaptation she was very cynical, the comics were part of her childhood and she wasn't eager to see them ruined. After I showed her the trailer she was over the moon about it, they really did the designs and style justice to the original!
Hopefully, they avoid bringing politics into this. America should simply let the French people create their animated films and write their comics without political interference.
I think this is the 3rd 3D Asterix and Obelix movie and the 2nd one that has been dubbed into English. The 1st dubbed one is about Greece setting up hotels on Gaul land and they arent having any of that - as you'd expect.
I read many of the Asterix and Obelix comic books when I was in college, and I'm familiar enough with the plot of The Big Fight to know that Dazz didn't quite get it right. Still, that may have been on purpose to not reveal too much of the plot. I'm definitely looking for ward to this one.
Us Americans really don't know this IP. I am sure there is some older generations who know it, but I, a 90's kid, only saw the comics for high dollars at comic stores. I've wanted to read this series.
Strange the other two movies did´t show in theatres in US it showed in Europe in cinema. Asterix and the Mansions of the gods come out 2014 and I heard nobody talk about it. It was wonderful. The 2nd 3D movie was a bit of a miss but still love thier humor. French got that type of taste with thier animation that I prefer nowdays.
My dad introduced me to them, I'm way 'too young' otherwise. But I remember him showing me the comics he had, in swedish though, and found the animated movie on youtube with swedish dub on which I watched. I remember really enjoying them so seeing them back is fun. Didn't they make a 3D movie 'recently' too?
I’ve only seen one of the movies from this IP- it was in Grade 7 and I didn’t understand a word of it cause I was and still am bad at French- I just drew the whole time
There are two other movies in this same style….. 👁️👃👁️ you should watch them. One is about the Roman’s trying to move in and the second is about the potion… 😂
Did you know that there are some other Asterix movies with the same animation style?

Asterix is also a pun for asterisk, since he is the star of the comic, hence the star symbol (*).
The potion master - that’s Getafix!!
I believe he is such a symbol in all Europe (at least), not only France
Any Chad's out here that remember
Asterix: Mansion Of The Gods?
Yes
Yes and I love the horribly lipsynced coices
I’m American and my dad had all of the Asterix books. I loved them, so I’m hoping this captures the wacky spirit well!
There were so many movies so idk what do you mean
@ I’m afraid I don’t know what you mean either, I was talking about the books, not the movies. The only one I saw was the Cleopatra movie.
Do you mean the 2D animated movie or the real life movie? There are like 10 movies and even 2 other 3D animated movies @@Tyrany42
Asterix was my childhood
Asterix and obelix

How can we americans watch em when they don't have it available for US streaming? I want to know.
@JerTheRobot don't know if that's the case for you, but it looks like they are available on amazon prime video. The first film is Mansion of the Gods, and the second one is The secret of the Magic Potion. Hope this helps !
@JerTheRobot if not available, maybe use a VPN I guess, don't know how the system works exactly, sorry about that...

Asterix and Obelix: Into the Gauliverse

Really wish the English dub would come to more modern streaming for it's two movies

0:31 It’s…not the first time tho, even at their park they use 3D animation in that style sometimes.
