Okay, if they add in a cameo of a Gaulish animator who wants to make 'moving pictures' called Netflix? That's one netflix change to a source material I would be entirely OK with.

And I'm pretty sure that, at least in the Polish dub, because I haven't watched the English, it says Netflix at one point. It also says Telezakupix(from teleshopping) and more that I don't remember at the moment, I haven't watched it in quite a while.
The previous adaptation movies were great in terms of animation and the faith from the source material. And it looks like they went on to make stylized just like the comics. I cant wait to watch this soon
Actually "they" didn't make it more stylised. The two previous animated movies were directed by Alexandre Astier and produced by M6 and animated by Mikros Image, while this one (and 2002's Mission Cleopatra) are by Alain Chabat, produced and animated by TAT. The creative teams are very different.
I used to love the old Asterix cartoons. The one i had on vhs was french so i had no idea what was said except for most sentences starting with "Aaaah Astereeeex"
We had that one too! And Asterix And Cleopatra! But my favorite was the one that wasn't based in the comics, I don't know what is the English name for it, but in that movie Asterix and Obelix had to do 12 labours like Heracles, except for that the all given tasks were gradually more and more unhinged. The Finnish dub of that movie is so memeworthy

In this movie also directed by Alain Chabat, he played Caesar and failed in the same way to eat his grape. And now Alain Chabat is directing this new animated movie and had fun remaking the scene of the grape.
Nothing beats like reading those good old comics of Asterix and Obelix ...the story line and drawings were truly genius. The fine details they captured in each drawing block, was mind blowing. Miss you Uderzo

Happy to see that Netflix invested in this new Animated Asterix ! The first 3d animated Asterix ("Asterix: The Mansions of the Gods") was a real treasure of fun & wit ! Highly recommended!

However, out of France it came out as "Asterix and the Big Fight". There is no such a thing as a big fight in the whole movie. The big fight is supposedly between the two chiefs of two gallic villages.
This is the most exited i have been in years for anything! I grew up on the Asterix and Obelix series, and it is amazing to see them still in action today!

Seeing as I don't remember the Romans being involved with "the Big fight" like this... Then again, It has been a while since I read that comic.
Netflix is having a good streak right now. First, Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget. Then, Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl. And now a new Asterix movie. I don't know where they get these ideas but keep them coming.
I wish Netflix would collab with the Dutch and make the Alfred J. Kwak sequel happen. But it's unlikely because Alfred J. Kwak was so much of a lightning caught into a bottle that I doubt any other series will ever again hit the same writing style.
I have respect for them trying to be faithful to the source material. A lot of western adaptation would change the character a lot to the point that it's a completely different character.

Nope Getafix (the grampa) it just has amnesia and temporary dementia, this movie will be an adaptation this time being completely based in the original comic because this story was adapted before for a animated movie in 1971 and the only thing related with the comic was Getafix anmesia and going bonkers, the rest of the movie was based on the soothsayer comic

Finally a perfect rendition of the master French comics creators Uderzo and Goscinny, pass cartoon film versions where terrible and never represented this masterpiece, looks like Netflix nailed!

@mag9604 Yes, indeed. Speaking of Assassin's Creed, Ubisoft is a French company so they could make a big open world Asterix game. They're very experienced at making open world games, after all. But they most likely won't do it because it isn't going to have international appeal.
Whoever is still keeping Asterix & Obelix movies alive, THANK YOU! The last animated movie of the franchise I watched was Asterix and the Vikings (2006), I thought that was the end of a era, then I recently stumbled upon 2 movies that slipped past me, The Mansions of the Gods (2014) and The Secret of the Magic Potion(2018). They were great fun! I am very excited to see this one. I believe I might have overlooked a live-action movie(s) recently as well, I will watch them soon.

The comic is called The Big Fight in English, but you're not entirely wrong because what you said is closer to the original French title.

@angelodescordo8455 I see what you mean but a bigger open world with more things to do and explore. Like assassins creed or Witcher which had many things to do. The Asterix games we’re limited.
@mag9604 Yes, indeed. Speaking of Assassin's Creed, Ubisoft is a French company so they could make a big open world Asterix game. They're very experienced at making open world games, after all. But they most likely won't do it because it isn't going to have international appeal.

The last animated movie of the franchise I watched was Asterix and the Vikings (2006), I thought that was the end of a era, then I recently stumbled upon 2 movies that slipped past me, The Mansions of the Gods (2014) and The Secret of the Magic Potion(2018). They were great fun! I am very excited to see this one. I believe I might have overlooked a live-action movie(s) recently as well, I will watch them soon.

Initially, my hopes for this series weren't very high 'cause I was afraid it would be unfaithful to the source material, but by Toutatis, this is marvelous! Asterix will finally gain US recognition!
