Thanks for clicking on a 7 hour video everyone! This video is actually a compilation of 10 smaller videos I made over the course of about 8 months, and as such, there will be many instances in which certain things don’t make sense within the context of being 1 massive presentation. Often times I will say “In this video” while referring merely to the current section of the video, for example. In addition to that, there are unfortunately a few graphical errors stemming from certain assets getting moved around on my computer over the course of the year. I want to use this comment to apologize for these quibbles, small though they may be, and to wish you all a wonderful night’s sleep!
That “tear” at the end isn’t a tear btw, that’s actually a single missing polygon from Bowsers model and the blue in his eye is just the sky behind him. If you look closely you can see the white of the clouds shifting too.
@@psychonawht2774 Basically using CCTV and audio during the night to monitor people who have serious conditions (like people who can take life-threatening epileptic seizures) and very rarely administering injections if they have a serious episode. It's 99% sitting back and monitoring as people sleep while watching videos on a multiscreen CCTV set up all night and 1% responding to emergencies. The rare times it does happen is a fair tradeoff because it's a very chill job (if you don't mind dealing with people having seizures) you just have to be ready to respond quickly.
@@psychonawht2774 I replied to you but some word must have caught an automatic filter. Basically I monitor people with very severe health conditions via CCTV and audio all night in case something happens. 99% of the time nothing happens so I'm sitting watching videos (and patients) on a multiscreen set up all night. The 1% of time where something does happen you have to be ready to run in and administer life-saving injections, like for severe epilepsy, or whatever response is necessary depending on the condition etc. It's great, 99% chilled doing nothing and 1% high pressure first aid, it's a trade off. I'm playing Dadish on the Switch just now while watching the screens. The vast majority of nights nothing happens and I just sit and watch this, Mind Pulp, Austin Eruption etc etc. If you can deal with extreme/scary situations calmly (and you can stay awake all night) it's a good job.
@@psychonawht2774 TH-cam keeps automatically censoring my response (probably because I'm using med terms) but basically I monitor people with extreme conditions through the night with CCTV and audio feeds from a private office next door in case they need first aid etc. 99% of the time nothing happens, I just have to sit and watch in case something does happen and an alarm goes off so you need to find things to do (for me it's watching this, Mind Pulp, Austin Eruption etc etc). If you can calmly deal with scary medical situations 1% of the time it's a great job. I'm playing Dadish on the Switch right now while monitoring only one person tonight. It's a golden ticket, you just have to be ready to respond quickly if anything does happen.
This series quickly became a comfort series for me on this platform. I love the calm yet engaging voiceover, and mix of fact and comedy, man I love this series (I’ve seriously watched each video like 30 times over)
I was glued to this game as a kid but for some reason the manatee boss really kicked my butt. I tried and failed and failed and failed. One day I found that somebody left the disc logo side down and a chocolate bar had melted nearby running over it. As sad as I was to lose my game, I joked with myself that I 'lost' because it was like the enemy mess I was supposed to clean up ended up ruining my disc in a roundabout imagination sort of way.
Took me 2 months of watching this every night to finally finish it, and all I have to say is wow, man. What a fantastic video. Really awesome commentary that perfectly balances information and humor. I learned so much about this goated game and was thoroughly entertained the entire time. Instantly one of my favorite videos of all time. You should be proud of what you made here man, it's really damn good.
Really amazing video, this is my favorite 3D mario and it was fun to learn so much more new about it after numerous playthroughs and I'm glad to find someone else who finds that final boss music underrated. 7 hours well spent.
I savored this over the course of like two weeks. This was an incredible journey back into a game I loved so much as a kid. And my daughter snuck a few peeks every once in a while, and is demanding to play this game now for the first time. Thank you.
I loved this series. I still have to watch the last one, but what a good time it was watching the whole thing every other month. I hope you keep doing this with Super Mario 64, Luigi's Mansion and others
4:28:33 this is far from the only one, but there are several instances of this "media not found" screen that weren't in the original videos (I think the first one is in the Noki Bay section, but most of them are in the Pianta Village section).
There is also a rather long one at 5:44:40 when Christmas95 gets a shout out for finding a reflection oddity. Oddly enough the text Christmas95 is still there over the Media Offline screen.
Amazing video, I havent played this game since I was a kid and this really makes me want to give it another go. 7 hours well spent, the depth of knowledge and fun was never boring.
Something really neat that I noticed in the Nintendo Museum Direct today that I never even thought about-- the FLUDD boxes in Mario Sunshine (or whatever they're called, the boxes that give you nozzles) are meant to be this game's version of question mark blocks? They're included in an exhibit thats a lineup of every question block design.
This gives me "A brief 12 hour analysis of the Phantom Menace" vibes lol Edit: I was not expecting a JoJo reference at 5 hours 36 minutes and 50 seconds into the video but it was much appreciated.
Can I take a moment to gush over how amazing this series was? I'm so glad I was recommend some episodes, because I was immediately hooked and watched the whole series. Now I'm back watching the whole series again as a single video, and I ain't complaining. It's easily the most well-researched, well written and in-depth dive into not only Mario Sunshine itself, but maybe of any videogame I've ever seen. I mean you solved the language cipher that had gone unnoticed for over 20 years. Sunshine is definitely my favorite 3D Mario game, and you've absolutely done it justice over these 7 hours. Thanks again for this!
There is a much larger market than I expected for a 7 hour breakdown of Super Mario Sunshine. Nicely done! Have played this game a ton and still learned a lot. Well worth the watch that took me like 10 days lol
This has come to be one of my absolute favorite channels on TH-cam, and this Sunshine series has been equal parts cathartic and informative for one of the games that I feel formed the core of my childhood and interests. Thank you for all the time and effort you invested into making this monster, I can't wait to see what you've got planned next, but for the time being I hope you enjoy the rest
1:31:53 I have a guess for why kug’s there… allegedly a thing that will happen when programming games is something will be put in early and then somewhere in the code something becomes dependent on that thing being present for whatever reason, so deleting it breaks the world… supposedly in those cases it’s easier to just put the mystery load bearing item out of bounds than it is to go through your entire code to figure out what about this specific object breaks things when it’s removed XD
I’m no SMS scholar or anything; I’ve played it plenty and seen many speedruns because I love the game and its world so much. I would never have imagined that a detail I missed for all these years is that Gooper Blooper gets a new ink attack when you remove his cork
when i was a kid (like between ages 5-9) my fear of rollercoasters ran so deep that anytime my brother played the first episode of pinna park i would cry. this is one of my favourite games of all time and i had sooo much fun watching this video! thanks to you for putting it all together and thanks to all the sources that helped you!
I need a Metroid prime video styled like this. Cover all zones and go room by room. There’s so many details I’ve noticed when I decided to stop and look around. Prime 1 is my carbide game ever made and I’d love to know even more about it. You’ve shown me a lot I never knew about my other favorite game, you should do it for my #1
Hey dude your an amazing TH-camr with the satisfaction of a professional. All you need is something else to give your heart to & you’ve given 100% to this game so your dedication to what you love shines like a star shine!
i didnt even realize this was a compilation of your own videos until maybe 4 hours in! now i gotta go check out your other content! great video for a great game i grew up playing but somehow never actually beat, probably cuz i was so young and playing it off and on, maybe ill go and finally beat it on my all stars copy
I never watched a deep dive on anything before, so maybe it was my love of this game that got me to click, but it was your script and game knowledge that kept me coming back! Amazing job, and thank you for this wonderful journey into my childhood. P.s My favorite level was Noki Bay, although the Eel level scared the piss out of me P.p.s The “heat haze” effect blew my mind as a kid lol, definitely a good addition
Absolutely love your breakdowns! I’m hoping to see a series like this on Majora’s Mask from you one day 👁👁 but whatever you choose, I’ll be watching anyway 😎
I've probably watched this video 6 or 7 times by now just because i absolutely love how you just talk about anything and everything in this game! And this time around I'm even using it for a 100% playthrough
4:36:37 You actually can make them jump in. In fact, that has always been my method since I was a child. If you lure them onto the bridge and then spray water on them while standing on the little piece of land with the tree (where the moustache pianta is sitting), they'll jump right into the water. I actually had no idea that you had to grab their tails and launch them into the water 😂
Dude I just want to say I respect this video so much. Making a video this long is not the norm and I really enjoyed watching this video on my free time at home, work, caught some of it in an Uber, and I’ve just been invested. Sunshine was my favorite game as a 7 year old and I never got to beat it until the Switch version came out 2 decades later and I will say I was a little torn when I finished it because I never really realized this game has half the zones 64 had. But still I still felt the same amount of fun with this one as I do all the games in the franchise and it’s so entertaining to go back and see a deep dive of everything I missed in the last 22 years lol
during the e3 2002 part i kept waiting for the most obvious observation of "the life bar looks different" amongst the hightlighting of random objects and modeling differences
Really the best Sunshine analysis I've ever seen! I learned a lot of things from this series and it was so enjoyable to watch! Gonna miss these videos so much!
I didn’t get into Mario until later on in life. I did have Mario Kart Wii when I was a kid, but I didn’t buy anything else until 2020. I ended up picking Sunshine as my favourite of Mario’s 3D platformers, because it had an interesting aesthetic and worldbuilding that most other Mario games cannot achieve. 2C Phoenix, thank you for justifying why I like this game so much.
i'm taking an 8 hour flight in a few days and i'm so happy to see these vids in one big compilation! sunshine is one of my favorite games of all time, and these vids were such a nostalgia trip. thank you for all your hard work and dedication!!
Incredible video, I loved every second. Interesting that Noki Bay was rushed. As a kid it was probably my favorite level, and I never noticed that it may have been rushed in some ways. Love the music, the vibe, everything, love spending time in Noki Bay.
4:09:59 lol this level and how clear the water gets combined with the eel fight freaks me out even now 20 years after I first played this game. There’s something ominous about the whole level that only makes sense if you’re afraid of the deep sea
It's also interesting that collecting the 100 coin shine during the manta fight also counts as defeating the boss, but doing the same during the Petey fight doesn't, even though Petey gets despawned just like the manta.
I hope Odyssey's sequel puts as much love into the various Kingdoms as they did Isle Delfino. I love the Pianta's and feel the new races we met in Odyssey feel short. But that doesn't mean each Kingdom couldn't be fleshed out!
Giving the name explanation, 2 minutes gameplay, and slam-dunking "Mr. Plantastic" is the greatest setup, delay, and delivery I've ever seen in a youtube video.
These videos got me through a tough time and are easily my favorite Sunshine videos on the site. Super Mario Sunshine is one of my favorite games of all time, I love it to death and have 100%-ed it regularly usually one sitting. A great compilation overall, the only issue I noticed is the Media Offline at 4:28:34, 4:43:02, 4:43:29, 5:06:55, 5:44:41, and 6:31:51
No matter how much sunshine content there is out there, I think it's easy to say this is the crown jewel of the topic on the Internet. Thank you so much for these videos! Sunshine is my personal favorite 3D mario.
This has become one of my favorite youtube series ever. Please keep making videos like this! Maybe other mario games. But honestly I'd watch you break down any game you do such a thorough job it's enthralling
This vid has been a revolving sleeping vid since you released the supercut, loved the individual vids and love the culmination. This is to me the definitive Mario sunshine retrospective
I have so much gratitude for how many people adore this game as much as I do. I've played all the 3d Mario titles and sunshine has always just been the most interesting and fun to play for me. It's incredible how well each level stands out despite the similar beach themes. I used to have dreams about visiting sirena beach and noki bay as a kid. They oddly felt like very real places to me despite the limited world building of their early 2000s environments and rushed segments. As much as I wish the developers had time to fully realise some of the scrapped or unfinished ideas in the game, the half baked snippets of what could have been leaves a fun mystery behind so much of the world. Noki bay stands out to me as the most curious. This game scratches an itch that many nowadays don't seem to. Amazing video!
Man oh man I just finished the video and boy was there many times where I went to hit the like button and saw it already liked. So much fun! Loved the analysis and witty writing. Great stuff and this has become my favorite video in recent memory.
You finally did what Every other Sunshine-Tuber couldn't, you covered all of Sunshine. Almost feels like a part of my life gets closure but that might sound a little corny. I doubt you will do it but I hope you cover Banjo Kazzoie Nuts and Bolts some day, its my favourite game of all time and its surprisingly rich with details and tidbits, heck if you don't do it I might. These seem like a perfect way to cover that game
I just played sunshine for the first time on switch. I have played Mario 64 for 20 years, but finally got to play sunshine. What an amazing game. I happened to get this video recommended after the playthrough. I can say without a doubt this is my top 3 favorite youtube videos ever. What an amazing masterpiece you have made my guy. I will make sure to rewatch this video when im cleaning, cooking or working and in the mood for sunshine. Thanks!
this video was recommended to me just after getting my hands on 3d all stars and 100% sms. even having just played the game, i found the video super entertaining, and i learned plenty of things i didnt know. honestly just makes me wanna play it again. love the videos, and enjoying the kh deep dive!!
Amazing video, watched while eating my dinner over 4 different days. So much nostalgia and just so happy that so many people out there appreciated this game the same as me :-)
The island in the top left corner is shaped like a sunfish or Mola actually! And the one you said was a bird might be an angel fish of maybe a ray of some sort but I think angel fish is probably more likely
mariosunshine will always be my favorite mario game. not just because nostalgia, but because i can always get back to it and actually enjoy it without getting bored
Wow, incredible work on all of these videos! I love taking the time to appreciate all the little details of a game that the devs clearly put a lot of time into, even if we only see some of them for mere moments. Thanks for making these! And the combined 7 hour version is perfect background for while I work
Outstanding. I've always been so fascinated by Mario Sunshine and have watched many TH-cam videos about it over the years. It's such a wonderful game but is also infuriatingly unfinished, and there are so many mysteries surrounding it. I figured I'd learnt all there was to know at this point, but boy was I wrong! This is by far the best series on Mario Sunshine I've ever seen. I love your presentation style and your depth of knowledge about the game is astounding. Thank you so, so much for putting this all together. I'm sure I'll continue to watch this over and over!
This has quickly become one of my favorite video series of all time. Super Mario Sunshine is one of my favorite games of all time. It was one of the first hyper fixations I ever had. And I thought I knew everything about it. How wrong I was. I will be watching this for years to come. And I can't wait to see what you do next!
This is the best fcking video I have watched in so long, I watched it within 2 days. The amount of work and detail put into the video is equal to that of Mario Sunshine itself, the love you have for the game is very tangible. Thank you so much for this gem, I am a new fan and I look forward to what your next project might be!🔆🔅☀️
As someone who was introduced to this channel via this video, I just want to say that I stuck around for the whole thing and that you did an amazing job really breaking down all the little things I just didn't even consider. You had an excellent narration style that really kept my interest through an entire 7 hours, granted I split it up over a couple of days. All in all, well done and I look forward to other deep dive videos of Mario games, if that's something you had in mind, *the galaxy series cough cough*
Fantastic video! The "Unknown Song featured in a Japanese Commercial for Mario Kart 8" (from the Pianta Village section 5:13:08 ) is an irish folk tune called Danny Boy
Mario Sunshine and Banjo Kazooie/Tooie were some of my childhood favorites that the general gaming community seems to hate on a lot, so seeing a vid appreciating everything i love about the game had me watching the whole 7 hours in one sitting!
I just finished and this is an extremely thorough analysis on par with that 12 hour Phantom Menace video. Amazing work Edit: also, i miss the town chuckster shine throw ALL. THE. TIME.
Im with the flu these days, and this video just saved me. Having something to play without having to move was really nice, but also, for being a 7 hour video, the quality was amazing! Great job and video, I hope you get tons of views!

Fantasizing about how pretty a purple and blue paint-goo would have looked in the bay 😢 It's my favorite level
This 7 hour reel is amazing, I love it.
during the e3 2002 part i kept waiting for the most obvious observation of "the life bar looks different" amongst the hightlighting of random objects and modeling differences
3:08 ITS A SUNFISH, NOT AN ACTUAL ISLAND! BELOW IT IS A RAY, NOT A BIRD
i'm taking an 8 hour flight in a few days and i'm so happy to see these vids in one big compilation! sunshine is one of my favorite games of all time, and these vids were such a nostalgia trip. thank you for all your hard work and dedication!!
Incredible video, I loved every second. Interesting that Noki Bay was rushed. As a kid it was probably my favorite level, and I never noticed that it may have been rushed in some ways. Love the music, the vibe, everything, love spending time in Noki Bay.
6:54:16 Pulling out the first Fi music for this kind of character discussion is just perfect, bravo.
The detail, passion, and commentary in this video is incredible. Thank you for this nostalgic gem. ❤
cant believe this series is over 💔 it meant everything to me
Binged this entire thing while I was at work! This compilation rocks and I love all the information and comedy provided keep it up!!
TH-cam has blessed me on this day with more long form Mario content. So happy
Giving the name explanation, 2 minutes gameplay, and slam-dunking "Mr. Plantastic" is the greatest setup, delay, and delivery I've ever seen in a youtube video.
What an excellent video! I truly loved this. The little jingle of saving at the end legit made me kinda emotional.
What a ride... Thank you for this beautiful ride down memory lane!
i love how thorough u are without being boring omg thank you
That estrogen joke made me double take so hard 😂 not wrong
These videos got me through a tough time and are easily my favorite Sunshine videos on the site. Super Mario Sunshine is one of my favorite games of all time, I love it to death and have 100%-ed it regularly usually one sitting.
A great compilation overall, the only issue I noticed is the Media Offline at 4:28:34, 4:43:02, 4:43:29, 5:06:55, 5:44:41, and 6:31:51
You legend. What a dope compliation.
Seven HOUR video on Sunshine. Hell yeah.
I'm sure someone has pointed it out by now, but the "Island shaped island" is actually shaped like a sunfish!
57:40 brought resurfaced such a deep memory for me.
Can’t believe I’m fixing to watch a 7 hour long video on SMS. 😅🎉
Thanks!
Fantastic video man! Between this and your Sly 2 stuff I'm really excited to see what content you create in the future!
this video was recommended to me just after getting my hands on 3d all stars and 100% sms. even having just played the game, i found the video super entertaining, and i learned plenty of things i didnt know. honestly just makes me wanna play it again. love the videos, and enjoying the kh deep dive!!
I'm sure I'll continue to watch this over and over!
feels nostalgic as you go through the quests that I remember fondly still, man it feels like yesterday that I was walking around delfino plaza
Thank you so much for this gem, I am a new fan and I look forward to what your next project might be!🔆🔅☀️
I absolutely adore the format of this video. I've never watched anything that presents this kind of information in this order using this framing.
What a beautiful tribute and VERY helpful walk-through of one of my favorite games. Thank you for this.
Fantastic video!
The "Unknown Song featured in a Japanese Commercial for Mario Kart 8" (from the Pianta Village section 5:13:08 ) is an irish folk tune called Danny Boy
Ohh I know that song too! That MK8 commercial was just the last place I expected to hear it, thank you!
I slept well on that! Gonna check the other series
This is dope. your hard work has let me relive a predominant memory of my youth.
Mario Sunshine and Banjo Kazooie/Tooie were some of my childhood favorites that the general gaming community seems to hate on a lot, so seeing a vid appreciating everything i love about the game had me watching the whole 7 hours in one sitting!
This is going to be my designated fall-asleep-to video for the next month
I just finished and this is an extremely thorough analysis on par with that 12 hour Phantom Menace video. Amazing work
Edit: also, i miss the town chuckster shine throw ALL. THE. TIME.
Im with the flu these days, and this video just saved me. Having something to play without having to move was really nice, but also, for being a 7 hour video, the quality was amazing!
Great job and video, I hope you get tons of views!
Love that when you describe your feelings on fludd as a companion, you have Fi's music playing.
