    Personaly I got issue with Fumoto and honda pilot 2cond gen .. followed instruction which needed extender (extra $$... so you get valve, extension and pipe connector 3 parts ) to fit as my oilpan have a cavity for the plug .. but with recommended extender valve didn't clear exhaust pipe to install.. .ended up going with valvomax ...

      Huh. I just ordered a valvo max for my 24 Odyssey. I have not seen the pilot's setup but I was concerned about clearance with the exhaust pipe as well. Fumoto told me I needed a long valve plus a 1 inch extension which I didn't love because that makes the valve even closer to the ground. Saw a random Scotty kilmer video by chance which was the first time I heard of valvo max. We will see but if you got it on your pilot no problem that makes me think it will probably work on the Odyssey as well

    Had a fumoto on my old diesel truck for 12 years. The concerns about being hit are largely overblown. If you don't have skidplates and are worried about ripping a hole in your oil pan, then you shouldnt' use either of these products, honestly. If you accept the tiny risk of that happening, then it boils down to whether you want to have to use a special tool to drain (easy to lose) or just be able to drain without searching for the mating part. Fumoto FTW.

      And anyone who wants to let the oil out at anytime can do so with fumoto. I would like to have the second part so someone just cannot walk up and drain my oil.

    I installed the ValvoMax on my wife’s Subaru and my Ford Transit maybe 7 years ago. Best thing I ever did to help make oil changes less messy. I will be installing them on my new 4Runner and wife’s Ascent.

      For clean work I’m enjoying them, my driveway is clean and I don’t need a drain pan, I drain straight back into my empty containers ready to drop off at the auto parts store. That’s a huge time savings for me!

    I've had the fumoto on numerous vehicles over the years and they've been great. If you worry that something could hit the valve and damage it, well, you should worry about running over something that big in the first place. Not saying that its not possible, but the chances are super low that your oil pan/drain will ever come in contact with onjects

    i currently have the valvomax on my F150. And just bought another valvomax for my 4runner. The fumoto key spring is the con since over time it can gum up, adding an additional step for cleaning. at least for my driving i take my 4runner on the trail and even though i have a skid plate, usually gets caked with thick mud. to fumoto is a No Go for me. the valvomax does drain slow with the key + hose.

  • @ghostbond1074
    @ghostbond1074 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    I don't have either, but my concern is the plug ending up with snow, road salt, etc in moving parts during the winter. Seems like the valvomax is sealed off from the outside when you're not using it.
    The fumoto seems like there's more stuff exposed to go wrong.
    Thing is...removing the traditional bolt isn't really a big deal. Being able pour directly into the disposal container would be a big advantage but since the oil filter replacement drips oil you need a separate pan anyways...so I just end up sticking with the traditional bolt.

      Depends on what you drive. Toyota has drains in the bottom of their oil filters and on the new Tundra it has a place to catch the oil and a place for a hose. So you can run either doubt into a pan or container

  • @espritix7171
    @espritix7171 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Which one is smaller length wise? I don't have a ton of room and want to ensure it won't hit my skid plate. I'm going to buy whichever one is shorter (for more clearance)

    • @AdventureSquadOverland
      @AdventureSquadOverland  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I believe they were pretty much identical however the valvomax appeared to use more metal in construction so it’s heavier making me think less prone to bending and breakage. So I guess all being equal length, do you want something beefier and the damage may reach your oil pan or something lighter where it may still reach your oil pan but might also act as kind of a fuse for damage. I can say it did stick out more than a drain plug, maybe twice as long if I remember correctly. Maybe someone else can help chime in here. Great thought for your build tho. Good luck.

      I have an EZ drain, similar design to the Fumoto. They recommend putting a small hose clamp on it to prevent the lever from accidentally moving. I ignored this and paid the price. Wife drove over a chunk of icy snow and it flipped the lever. She drove it about 5 kms as the oil slowly drained out. Wonderful. Luckily she turned it off in time and the engine was not ruined. There was less than a liter in it. After that, I used a stainless hose clamp, which adds another step to an oil change, albeit only 10 seconds, but requires a screw driver or socket. I think I'll try the Valvomax now, on my other car, despite it being more expensive.
