@@terrypanama8004 he did go home for about two weeks, which is obviously still not a lot at all. But it's true that he did get asked back immediately after getting voted out.
This was the season Jeff Probst was bigging up as the greatest ever and was having to tell people to keep the faith when they just weren't liking it, until he had to give in and accept defeat. lol He's like a superfan who gets blinded by their fave winning that it means it's a great season (Redemption Island, Caramoan, Worlds Apart). Poor guy just kept falling into that trap. But at least he's a fan of his own show.
Surprisingly, I had this season ranked at #22. Granted, my ranks 20-28 could easily be interchangeable. Overall, I thought this season just didn't do the greatest with the edit. They spent so much time on people like Philip, Brandon, and Shamar, while people who go farther like Brenda and Erik get next to no screen time. The pre-merge is quite the slog after the first episode, and you're doing is waiting for Brandon to explode because you knew it was coming. I didn't like Brandon at all on South Pacific, and seeing him as a "favorite" and do what he did on this season did not improve that. Other than that, the rest of the pre-merge was fans getting picked off. The merge picked up this season quite a bit, and the three amigos tribal really helped bring it up for me, granted Malcolm could've played it better or they could've gotten rid of a bigger threat than Philip. Even after Malcolm and Reynold go, the Andrea and Brenda blindsides are great. The finale is boring and dragged out over the two hours. The one reason I have this season ranked higher than some others is because Cochran plays really well this time, and I was very satisfied with him winning. I just wish we didn't see it coming a mile away late in the game. Overall, this season had its moments, but the pre-merge and predictable edit definitely hurt this season.
Would have been cool if the three Amigo's each placed a single vote on the majority alliance - forcing them to turn against each other. Credit to Analytical Strategy for that one.
At the Brandon thing, after the idol was giving to the fans Reynold said to Jeff " Can you do the thing with your hands, when you say immunity, the fans" Jeff said he would, then never did lol
So the season that has Phillip front and center the entire time is the 39th best, and the season that has the worst pre-merge ever and a good post merge is the one that heavily features Phillip before the merge and has him go home shortly after the merge.
Dawn is the exact same as coach in SP for me. They were both seemingly more socially engaged then the winners that season but completely relied on Cochran/Sophie for strategy and Cochran/Sophie used their sway over dawn/coach to make them burn everyone they were close with. Not sure what the argument with dawn is
I believe Osten was shirtless when he quit (and also maybe at every single prior tribal as well?). Still at tribal council, but not an official vote out
Did Rob give his overall rewatch ranking so far in the episode? I feel like I missed it somewhere in the 4 hours lol does anyone have a timestamp he says it or what place he ranked Caramoan of the 11 seasons he has seen so far?
If Malcolm and Reynold both voted for Eddie at 10 bc the other group was splitting the votes, then Malcolm votes for Reynold at 9, or gets the advantage and wins immunity, then he could be in the final 8 with 2 idols and work from there.
One thing I really didn't like was the reunion. It was the worst one they've showed. They gave half of the spotlight to returning players instead of half of the cast that competed and gave Erik absolutely nothing even though he came in 5th.
I haven't done the math (or listened to the whole podcast yet) but is it possible that Brenda was already in her early pregrancy during the season? If so, it could explain why she was acting so differently compared to Nicaragua. I've never been pregnant myself but I assume you start to feel a bit different and especially if you don't know the cause yet, I certainly would be "off my game" a bit.
I think when they heard "No bitchin' in the jungle" what Tata the bushman actually said was "No vetsin in the jungle". Vetsin is MSG in this part of the world.
"Everyone on the Fans tribe is so memorable!" => What?! I didn't even remember Hope and Ali's names until they were mentioned. I haven't finished listening to this yet, but already know one of them will be the Wait-Who's-That person. edit: Nailed it. Yeah, people remember that foursome, but they don't remember the two random girls that got picked off.
Personally, I weight the merge a lot higher than the post-merge, and it's baffling to me how a season like this with a great post-merge that isn't just a pagonging is below so many boooooooooring pagongings.
Thanks Amigos for making my 8 hour work day feel like a 3 hour one xD. This is the first season ranking pod I’ve listened the whole way through, maybe the listeners have the bottom 10 seasons in the right spot. Still surprised Cook Islands is so high, just remember how boring it was, apart from some good casting nothing happens!
I just want to mention that Cochran was wrong: this does not analogize to the Monty Hall problem. In the Monty Hall problem one thing is definitely better than the other two, you pick one of the three and then the host reveals one of the things you didn't pick (it will be the worse thing) so switching will give you the best result unless you picked the best thing the first time (so one in three chance). Reynold didn't know what any of the things on offer were so he was essentially picking one unknown thing out of three.
I call this the most unhinged season of survivor. I’m surprised anyone passed the psych evals. Erik climbs that tree hoping he falls and gets hurt. I was really scared for his mental well being there
It’s funny how many returners - and some actual legends - that we’re already done with. Andrea, Brenda, Philip all gone - and I’m not finished with the podcast yet but South Pacific HAS to be soon so Cochran and Brandon will be done soon too.
So here is how I see the dawn brenda situation dawn had 3 things she could have done the first was just say yes I would have quite the game and validated brenda but then said something along the lines of her being the only one who do that for her and saying that gestures like that are why brenda was to nice and that she couldn't beat her in the end. The second choice was to say no I wouldn't have quite but taken out the teeth the first time she was asked it probably wouldn't have helped her but it wasn't going to hurt her. What hurt her is she did option 3 were she said she wouldn't quit but when asked to prove it she argued with brenda saying she shouldn't have to which sorta proves that she was insecure about it but wasn't willing to admit that it mattered and brenda knew it did for dawn but dawn just tried to invalidate that bond with brenda
Hello i came to this podcast just to hear the deal with brenda. im suprised by all the negative feedback regarding the teeth incident! I COMPLETLY would have done the same thing to dawn. i think it was also excelent televison. i would defnitly make her prove it and i was dissapointed she took it out. loved brenda!
Rob thanks for skipping completely past any pro-Sherri content... NOT! Once again it seems that in any conversation about the Final three of Caramoan - all attention goes on Cochran and Dawn, which is fair enough - but rarely does ANYONE attempt to give Sherri dues for being the ONLY fan to make FTC in any of the Fans vs Faves seasons.
Sawyer, the BBCAN live shows are at the same time we have to record these panel shows. So since BBCAN is currently in season and live, we have those recaps on Wednesday nights. We will move these panels back to live shows upon BBCAN's conclusion. Thanks for listening & watching!
I was a Brenda fan until this season, but not since. If the only way ‘Brenda’ can feel good about herself is at the expense of someone (Dawn) else.... tsk, tsk, shame on Brenda ... NOT a fan.👎
I enjoyed Tarzan and Kim enough to edge it into the #39 slot. Can't think of a single Caramoan personality I liked at all (Malcolm & Andrea are fine, but they're both at their worst).
Fun fact: This podcast is actually longer than Malcolm’s time off between Philippines and Caramoan
That's a joke right?

Me: movies are too long for me to sit through
Also me: watches a 4 1/2 hr youtube video of a Survivor Caramoan recap on 1x speed 😂
I’m obsessed with these Season Rankings every Wednesday... it’s like a survivor episode in a way every week! Thanks RHAP
Why am I spending 4.5 hours listening to a podcast about a season I haven't rewatched in years
Seems like a lot of people have 4+ hours free for extremely pedestrian things these days.
This was the perfect distraction to watch instead of working today
Amazed that this is 4th from last for Rob so far considering he had it at #16 in the rankings he did after recording TEOS!

I might be that one person, Ali! I'm totally checking out their podcast now!
Only other season with an auction that has a challenge advantage AND idol clue was Samoa. But Russell had already found the idol.
OMG thank you, Ali! I couldn't figure out for the life of me where I knew that producer who stepped in to host Jeopardy from!
Would have been cool if the three Amigo's each placed a single vote on the majority alliance - forcing them to turn against each other. Credit to Analytical Strategy for that one.
@Raheem Fielder-Bey also a good choice!
Or just not announce their vote and play their idol. Would have been great
Props to Ali for the props
At the Brandon thing, after the idol was giving to the fans Reynold said to Jeff " Can you do the thing with your hands, when you say immunity, the fans" Jeff said he would, then never did lol

A really dark and sad season, personally I think the casting exploited mental health issues here
