I listen to/play this song a lot. One thing I love about it is how the hi hat rings in the intro, verses and bridge.

My favorite Ghost song of all time. I think Respite on the Spital Fields is number 2.

Definitely could hear the Ritchie Blackmore/Rainbow connection in this song! Thank you for introducing me to Opeth. Super excited to hear more! Keep up the excellent work!

Uriah Heap all the way, from song structure to lyrics. (just this song, though) First time I heard this, I felt like running out and grabbing a new copy of The Magician's Birthday (Kazoo on the title track, I realized/remembered as I briefly left the room!)

Sounds like a good idea, you guys! It would be fun and honestly I need to check out Opeth at some point, especially considering that their guitarist was on IMPERA.
As for Majesty, that's the song that almost made me want to learn how to play the drums.... and there is a video floating around somewhere where a Ghoul (the male back up vocalist) is dancing to the instrumental at the end and it's fun. There's a video of that same Ghoul dancing during Montrance Clock if you want to see his moves lol.

For Opeth, their crowning masterpiece that is more akin to Ghost would be the album Damnation! For their prog death metal stuff, I’d start with Blackwater park!

    • @Lazarus_Cardinalis

And i love how every bit of the song sounds royal and reverential, perfect fit for the title

@@FlameImperishable during the verse it's a bit buried under the guitars and organ at times, but you can hear some of the fills and slides that propel the groove forward

The opening rock organ is reminiscent of Styx's "Blue Collar Man" but slower.

I think you two will really dig a band called Purson. They're a lot like a mix of Jimi Hendrix and Heart. The Contract and The Electric Landlady are great songs by them

Ghost is by far one of the best bands but you should check out the band ATOMSHIP. They had one album in early 2000s. Kind of an alternative metal thing but it was amazing. The drummer is one of the best I’ve ever heard. I would start with the song MOTHRA

I've been enjoying your trip down the Ghost rabbit hole. The audio has been kind of cavernous, however. Can you plug the TH-cam audio in direct and leave the open mic for yourselves? Ghost was my last big infatuation. For the last year or so I can't get enough of Porcupine Tree. As Opeth fans, this will definitely be to your taste. PT is a hybrid of Pink Floyd, Tool and Rush, but better than all three, imho. Another tip with Porcupine Tree, go live whenever possible. Recommend Hate Song live in Chicago, Anesthetize live in Tilburg and Cheating the Polygraph live in Tilburg. Cheers!
