A lot of this song is references to the former hired members of Ghost suing Tobias Forge, thus why he called someone Swede Saint Peter and that the former members were "vomiting savage slurs" about Tobias and how he runs the band. I interoperate part of the talks about death as Tobias losing what he worked to build and acknowledging that one day the band and himself won't be around any longer and to enjoy it while it lasts.
Also as an atheist I find this as a very inspiring positive song, it's important to remember that your time alive and the lives of your loved ones has an expiration date and to cherish the moments you have and try not to let others and things drag you down for too long because in the end its a waste of time.

Tobias forge is a freemason. When he did interviews for this album he always said the theme of this album was still relevant and a plague will likely happen again. Also Ghost suddenly stopped touring at the start of this year and had nothing planned until 2021 which they have never taken a year break from doing any shows lkke that before....
Despite the lyrics I find this song oddly comforting.
The lyrics should be the most comforting “Memento Mori”: you must die. Enjoy life

This is one of my favorite Ghost songs. It has such a broadway feel, at least that’s how I felt it. It really works live too.

One of their more underrated songs that piano is so simple yet really beautiful and Tobias sounds great on it hopefully you check out systems new songs
At one of Ghost's shows a couple of years back, a person in the audience passed out and died literally right after they played this song. The next song the band played was "Life Eternal". That incident has certainly given this song an even deeper impact.
If you're referring to the incident in Milwaukee, the last song they played was Deus In Absentia - which was to be the last song of the first act - and there wasn't a next song, as the individual in question collapsed and passed away during the intermission and the remainder of the show was cancelled.
@@ZX-ou5op Oh, you might be right about "Deus In Absentia". At some point, they switched between playing that and "Life Eternal" before the intermission. What I heard though, is that the person passed out after "Pro Memoria" and then was announced dead during the intermission, after which the band was informed and rest of the show was cancelled.
@@KalloSkull Pro Memoria was indeed played right before Deus In Absentia, but every eyewitness account I've read indicates that the fan didn't collapse until the intermission. The band waited for about 30 minutes and made the call to cancel the second half of the show. Life Eternal definitely wasn't played that evening or at any show during that tour and wasn't added to their setlist until A Pale Tour Named Death later that year.

The best bands out there, are those that have some "eclectic" elements incorporated into their music/sound, and Ghost is among those. You can tell when notice the broater audience they reach (something that all those "trve" metalheads around the globe always brag about🙄😁). Btw, since i watch your reactions, always wanted to comment that Ghost is like a contemporary version of Blue Oyster Cult, at least to my hears🤟🤟🤟

Neil Gaiman's The Sandman is one of my favorite stories. I love more people are getting into it. I collected and read it back in the 90's but still haven't heard the audiobook version. Love to hear your thoughts on it when you're finished Vin.
I listened to the audiobook while reading the comic for the first time in a long time, what an experience! It's only the first 20 issues tho, I heard there are plans to keep going with the other volumes, can't wait!

The funny part is.. this song is so uplifting regardless of religious orientation. People generally live in fear of death. Death is inevitable so there is no need to fear it. Make the best of the time you have and enjoy your life to the best of your ability. This song embodies that viewpoint.. at least to my mind.

I'd really recommend listening to the whole album (Shem Ha Mephorash) because its very much best experienced all together but i feel like asking for you to take a song suggestion in the comments is already unlikely :/. The time has come where I have to say something. I really love how you deep dive into analyzing different bands lyrics, it really sparks my interest. The only "issue" I got with it all is how you sho-horn in Christian views as soon as you can. Oh I know it says Christians React to... but it took many videos before I heard a true rabbit-hole video. My upbringing was based on science and nothing else. I have searched as one does, but nothing could convince me otherwise that fact-based science is the only way also during my life things have happened (That no God in its right mind would give to a human) that proven I took the right decision. I'll be completely honest, I think this is one of my least favorite Ghost songs lol.
I'm not super into the intro & chorus, especially. But, at the same the lyrics in the chorus are kinda funny, so I do like that aspect. It's just the sound itself, I guess.
Like it's not bad. But, I'm just never gonna put it on lmao.
Now See The Light, on the other hand. I dig that one a lot more. In fact, I like literally every other song on this album. And I'm *super* into Carpenter Brut's synthy disco remix of Dance Macabre.
It's just this song that I'm like, "eh".

The part where he sings "if you had the chance today, you could have sold out too. Ain't that right Swede saint Peter" is a reference to his old members and the courtcase where Tobias where sued by them. There is as always with Tobias two ways you could interprete the words. Peter was someone who wasn't in the group but around them. And he claims that all this Papa Emiritus and the nameless ghouls was his idea and that Tobias stole this without giving him the credits for it. The other way to interpret is that Saint Peter also was known as Simon. And there is one Simon in the group who was the leader of the members that sued Tobias. Something Tobias has had very hard to swallow. He felt betrayed by his friends and especially Simon.
The song is one part of all songs together that is the concept album Prequelle. You need to listen from start to finish sometime to really understand the whole story.
On this song we must also talk about Swedish musician Salem Al Fakir and his piano play. Just pure brilliance.
True story. I've been out for over two weeks in Covid 19 and when i got better the first group i listened to was Ghost. I ended up crying on the sofa just so happy to hear his voice again. So beautiful and with the fantastic melodies it's just goes straight to my heart.
Now do something from the new AC/DC album. So damn good 🤘
