im training some young keepers that have a problem getting low quick and im transitioning from a player to a coach i was stumped on what drills to use with them and this video helped so much thank you
Start by having them on their knees and practice sliding your pinkie against the grass. This is gonna be muscle memory to help them how to get to low balls. With hands on the side of their bodies tell them to slide their pinkie to the side against the grass. Then build up their confidence with doing it while Standing. Focus on the diagonal step necessary to dive towards the ball.
These, along with Conor's are probably the best training drills I have seen online. Later on in the summer, I might get a chance to coach goalkeepers for a youth soccer club, and I will probably show these drills to the keepers and the other coaches at the club.
I have this down when the ball isn’t too far once the ball is far away I have trouble reaching to the ball and the ball goes by me any tips? I try to take a more powerful step but I still end of letting the ball go with only the tips of my fingers touching the ball any tips ?
There is no such thing as discourage I was criticised for 2 and a half years in my team by the outfielders But I stood like a man and showed them their place Yelling at defenders helping coach at tactical decisions and now I'm the captain And all listen and respect me
