    Carla. Your weight loss video regarding your therapy resonated with me so much. I cried and showed my mom and I said look someone who is the same as me and understands my struggle. I’m 24 and I’ve been struggling with my weight since I was a child as well. It was so inspiring to hear your story and how almost exact it is to mine. You have given me hope that I can get through my battle with food. Thank you for making your videos ❤️

    You helped me start walking one hour a day and to just do it and not worry how fast or how far you got. Just finish a one hour walk. I am 58 and to be honest you lost a whole Me. That is amazing when I see that. This is only day two that I have finished but I finally started putting me first.

    Carla, I nearly have no words. But what I can say is thank you!!
    I came across your video that was about walking being the only exercise you did to loose weight several months ago. I started that video and watched less than 5 minutes of it. Well yesterday it popped up in my continue watching category last night. Gave it a go and finished watching it. It was shocking to learn, I too was walking incorrectly. Decided I would try to correct my walking this morning at 5:30a. For the first time ever, it didn’t hurt to walk this morning! Excitedly, during my kids nap time, I dug into several other videos.
    Hope overwhelmed me! In the middle of the day I decided this was my start day! It CANNOT wait. With this being the start, I know there’s a long way to go, lots of healing to be done. But for the first time ever in my 34 years, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, a beacon of hope. As you mentioned, this season is finite, it will not last forever.
    So again thank you! ❤

    ☀️☀️. I am currently working my way up to an hour walk. 35 minutes today and 1.2 miles. I use a treadmill ☹️ which I do not like but I would have to drive to a park to get paved paths. My arthritis needs level ground at least until I get stronger.

    • @amandapage2492

      Hiya Kim,fellow arthritis sufferer here! I also have to use a treadmill to stay on even ground. Just starting my 2nd BodySlims course.At the start of the first course I could only do a ten minute walk,now I can manage the full 60 minutes.

      It's okay to use a treadmill especially if that helps you to be consistent. Also, mall walking before the stores open may be available close to you.

    I love to take time to read the Bible, listen to Christian music, and go to church.
    I walk an hour a day.
    We definitely do NOT need to feel guilty about taking care of ourselves. Balance is definitely the key. Be kind to others and be kind to ourselves. I stop rewarding myself with food and instead I reward myself when the hot bath, painting my toenails, lighting candles, watching my favorite TV shows, spending time with family, shaving my legs, swimming, and doing ALL the things I love to do when I was a child.

    ❤❤❤ Completely agree with all this. I've recently started reorganizing how my weeks look and how I prioritize my time to make sure I do the things that I know will help me be successful. One thing in particular is meal prepping - I don't have any time on the weekends at the moment, so I had to shift some things around, including the day I meal prep. It's been a process, but I feel like it's really helping! Thanks for all the tips!

    🌞 I agree wholeheartedly that one should track all their food, even if it's only when starting so you can learn what true portion/serving sizes are. I know it's time-consuming but what I say to that, is it's so worth the time because otherwise, you could be so frustrated as to why the scale isn't going down or very slow weight loss. Too often people over/underestimate what they are actually eating. It's a surefire way to make sure you are truly in a deficit! I am hopeful that I will be at maintenance by the end of spring/early summer and I plan to keep tracking for a long time while I start adding calories back in.

    • @HalfofCarla
      @HalfofCarla  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Completely agree Tiffany, we can be wildly off with guestimates!

  • @UrsusLife
    @UrsusLife ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Love this! Since I simplified my process and counted calories I have seen the best consistent results. I don't have an app, but I keep an online log of my daily walks and daily food. It does something for me to see the totals and how close I was to my target. I am a list maker & checker off-er :) LOL So, this type of tracking is good for me because I feel like I have accomplished my goals for the day. And I agree about the mental health part. I got serious about it last year and understanding why I overate has helped me unlearn behaviors that led to obesity. And I know it will help me to 'not' create a new addiction to replace food.
    I just love you channel!! You just don't know how many people you are helping to find their own way with your honest, transparent videos. Thank you & Happy New Year!!

    You have definitely encouraged me. I am 51 and over the past 10 years gained a lot of weight. I use to be an avid runner and very small. I do not know what fog I have been in. Some of it going through menopause I think and having a desk job where I would be sitting at least 12 hours a day (I now stand instead of sitting and cut my hours). Anyway, I have made changes over the past year but really kicked it in the past 2 months. Honestly, this is bad, I had not weighed myself before. I just could not do it. But my clothes had started to loosen. So, I started weighing myself. Over the past 2 weeks, 6 lbs down! I have been walking, but through your video's, saw I was walking incorrectly (I need pushing off instead of pulling). That has made a big difference for me. I do integrate a small amount of running small spurts that gets my heart rate up. I downloaded my fitness pal and have started counting my calories. And as you, I end up eating the same things over and over (I do eat meat). I have a long way to go :). But my appetite has changed. I do not use food as the thing I look forward to anymore. It is almost like I have replaced it with exercise. I will update my progress. Just to let the ladies over 50, post menopausal, know...we can do it!!

But I hit a wall and felt so crappy living on adrenaline for so long. Now back home, every day, looking to wedge in the time to build my body back up. Lots of good wholesome farm to table meals and a walk or exercycle or silver sneakers every day. Part of my self-love mission is not to be so hard on myself. But much like after you had your son, I look forward to feeling good again. Thank you for your unique outlook. It is helping me a lot. ❣️

    ☀This is perfect and so timely, Carla! I have been really inspired by your walking an hour every day and I've been sitting with that, for a few months (I'm down 65 pounds, but have stalled for a few years and it's been really hard). There are days when walking is part of my routine, to run my errands, because I don't have a car. On those days, I'll go out of my way to walk to a bus that's about a mile out, rather than the two blocks for the closer one. So, I feel good about that, but I only do it a couple days a week. And that's only 2 miles, which I'm realizing is not quite enough. I really need to do 3 miles. As for the other five days, when I'm not running those errands, well...I found myself coming up with all kinds of reasons not to walk. For example, I didn't want to put on sunscreen, to go walking in the sun (we get a ton of it, here in Colorado), so I'd stay inside, instead. I have a back injury and sometimes I don't feel up to walking...but there are other things I can do, like my upper body weights routine or swimming. I might have the desire to walk in the morning, but I didn't want to have to eat that early in the day, because I can't do the fasted walking thing (I kind of damaged my body by doing low-carb for too long), so I would think, "Okay, I'll fast until lunch and then I'll go for a walk, after". But, by the time that came around, I was too settled in and I wouldn't want to go. I realized that these things were silly and that I was holding myself back. If I wanted to walk in the morning, I could have a light breakfast and then, if I was hungry, after, I could have something relatively low in calories, until it was time for a proper meal. For example, I've meal prepped a veggie soup that's about a 100 calories, but is very filling, so I could have that. Or I could eat an apple. Or fill up on tea. No big deal. And the sunscreen issue? I realized it wasn't that big of a deal to just put it on. I might like something that smells less chemically and feels better on my face, but until I get that sorted, I'm going to use what I have. Anyway, it's Christmas eve day and I felt a little bit lost, sitting at my desk, not quite knowing what to do with myself. I'm feeling down, because I'm estranged from my family and Christmas is mostly just painful. I thought, "If I'm not sure what else to do, maybe I should go for a walk". So, even though I had to put on sunscreen and my snow boots and go out in uncertain conditions (I didn't know if it would be icy after our snowfall, last night), I went for it and I got an hour in. I thought of you and how you would prioritize your morning walk. So, thanks for that. I have learned so much about empowerment, in general, from watching your channel. Thank you for walking the walk and talking the talk. You rock! Speaking of time, thanks for taking the time to create this video. Also, Merry Christmas 😊 🎄

    Been walking 45 mins a day everyday for the last 3 weeks. I feel much better and more energized but the scale has yet to move. It's driving me insane. Might have to drop the carbs again. Lost 50 pounds on keto in 16 months then gained 20 lbs back in the last year. Gonna have to up my water intake and have patience

    Also, scale weight is not a great indicator of fat loss, if you don't use other tools to track. So if you do strength training you might be losing fat and gaining mucle. Progress pics and measurements are important to include. If not people think they're not making progress because they don't see the scale move.
    I've lost 10 kg, but I've lost a lot more inches around my waist than what the scale would show in periods where it wasn't budging.

    Hello Beautiful Carla. I'm going to catch up on your videos as I have been kind of away from TH-cam. I needed you to say you need to drink water because I hate water, and I know I need to drink a lot more.♥

      Hi Mel! I used to hate it as well, but sometimes we just have to do the things we don't want to even if we don't like them and then the benefits win out x

    ☀🌞🌻Hello, I am a new subscriber and I am currently on my weight loss journey again. I completely agree that mental health is so important when you take this challenge on. I had lost 60 lbs. before the pandemic and gained it back during that time. Kudos to you for losing the weight during that difficult time in our global society. Now that I am losing weight again I feel more motivated in other parts of my life. I clean the house more or I will make the appointment to see my personal trainer. I am curious if this happens with others? Do you feel more motivated in other areas of your life during your weight loss journey?☀🌞🌻
