The colour night vision works by reducing the frame rate in order to let more light reach the sensor, you'll notice how blurry the image is when there's movement. Infrared will give more detail which will serve you better when you need to identify a visitor, welcome or not.
I fitted the Eufy system last year and have had a very good experience with it. I didn’t get the top of the range set, but am still impressed, the only issue we have encountered is adding a new camera months later, but we may have found a solution on YT to this! 👍
Looks like a great system. Thanks for the review., I'd put a small bend in the solar panel cable going into the camera to prevent any water tracking into the connection 👍
I have the homebase 3 and a Eufy solar cam + one non solar cam. They make excellent wildlife cameras ( I have two Hedgehog Houses ). One thing to be aware of is that if you control them using Apple Homekit you do lose some functionality.
I'm in the Eufy camp like yourself Stuart. I've had their doorbell for two or three years as well as a couple of smaller battery-powered cameras. The S3 Pro cameras look pretty clever so thanks for showing them. I wonder like yourself though, just how they'll perform during the winter months. A while ago I bought a S340 camera like the one you showed us in Eufy Part 1 and it's great BUT I've realised it'll need charging occasionally. I live in Wales and a couple of weeks ago we had a few really sunny days, though last week things were pretty overcast which has a huge impact on charging the battery. Larger scale panels behave differently but I've noticed the Eufy solar panels seem to have a threshold below which they simply won't charge so don't bank on getting all the way through the winter months 🤔 My camera is currently triggering quite a few notifications while I tweak the settings so I'm sure yours will be different.
All Eufy solar products are suitable only if they are installed facing south especially in UK. Trying any other orientation that offers less sun during the day, will not be ideal. I got 3 cameras and during winter time only the south installed works without flaws, the rest being installed on north side and east - do not cope with the daily amount of light, are inefficient
The Alfred system is very good because you can use old phones and tablets as cameras or viewers, as well as their own cameras, on free and paid tiers. A great way to use old tech!
Hi Stuart. An impressive system expertly demonstrated. The reliance on solar power worries me a little. Does the manufacturer offer mains or battery powered versions?
Going to need to change that Toshiba drive before too long. Had so many issues with these drives. I work in IT btw. Hope you don't have the same issues.
Hi Stuart,I love my Sunday morning watching your Channel as well before the weekly food shop, wife still sleeping. Just an observation, the soffit camera solar panel won't get much light or sun to charge so this will be interesting.Impresssive Eufu system though 😊👍
Some reviews are reporting that if an intruder simply presses the camera reset button for 10secs it not only unlinks the camera from the base station, it also removes the ability to view all the footage from the camera too. Surely this vulnerabilty is a show stopper?
Thanks Stuart, once again a great review and content! Have you tried shining a high powered torch at these new cameras? I've seen some of these low light cameras have trouble showing a clear image when hit by "High Beam" Thanks again really love the channel.
Love the videos mate. I have a couple of similar Eufy cameras and there is one thing I wish I knew before I bought them... If you dial in and watch footage live it doesn't record that footage. It will record any motion that is triggered but the minute you open the notification and watch live, the recording stops. This is a massive oversight in my opinion, especially as the sensors don't always pick people or activities up... Something to bear in mind if anyone out there wants a Eufy camera. Apparently there is a wired version of these cameras that record 24/7 and that's the only way around that issue... Great video though and I always learn something new watching these!
Good review Stuart but I would personally never fit a wifi bullet camera. The wifi signal can be easily interfered with and the bullet style camera is easily hit and moved out of its FOV. I recommend fitting a varifocal full 4K AI turret camera with full colour night vision and a separate audio feed . I have been fitting systems for quite a while now. Each system needs tailored to the individual location and I find cctv kits are always a compromise.
I might switch the screws out for hex type - the most unusual you can get - to reduce the chances of anyone taking the camera or solar panel set completely. Could you put a weird grub screw in to make it really difficult to take them off? Something that used an hex key (unusual fitting) could make it just too difficult to get off - especially if you could fit it from the top. Just because they're not compatible with other equipment, doesn't mean there won't be someone who wants to steal them. It might be worth putting caps over the screws as well and it could still be possible to tighten up the bracket. I'd turn them so they don't have things like drainpipes in shot as well. Good video.
These are ok. Even the lower spec ones are great in the dark and the app is decent. BUT You have to make sure you adjust your phones battery management settings to get the alerts. Ive also found sometimes their detection is inconsistent, in that things have definitely happened but not been picked up. Although tbf rhat might be my fault for the settings.. Also note if you buy into this system there is no external alarm box as with Ring or Yale etc so i have a separate ring alarm. I am probably going to change to the tapo system, image quality not as good but more sensitive and longer recording times. Alternatively i might find a way of running power permanently to my cameras but i worry how weatherproof the usb on the underside is so I'm not convinced
We look pretty damn impressive. How well does the solar charging fair? We have a small orchard and it'd be good to have something like this installed. Do you have any info on the range for the signal to be detected?
Some time back you did a video with cameras attached to the house - wired system if nemory serves correctly. An installaton using these would have saved all the wiring issues. That said the wired version is always considered more secure than wireless.
While I agree that free merch doesn’t always reflect an honest review, it is in his best interest to try to earn some money. I watch the wood whisperer who does reviews on free gear but doesn’t hold back on negative aspects of the product. We can only hope for the same everywhere.
You've certainly spiked my interest as I have 2 Tapo cameras that aren't that reliable as the sd cards stop working after a while and the subscription is the thick end of £10 for multiple cameras. Do you know if the Eufy doorbell can also be linked to the homebase?
You don't fully own your system because of the software, I have eufy2 pro and the updates I received gradually made the camera worse and worse so it's hit and miss now when you want to check for recordings more likely than not the camera hasn't recorded anything, call it programmed obsolence or bad software updates I dont know. I would stay away from wireless cameras and use wired instead, unfortunately I spent hundreds already on this system thinking it'd be cheaper
Eufy must be desperate to shift their gear, sending you about 1K worth of kit for nowt! And they're tapping up quite a few youTubers by the look of it.
Those cameras all have to be in range of the hub which has limited power for wireless so limits the range. Also, I can’t see solar working int UK Autumn/Winter. We just don’t get enough sun.
Good reviews and was thinking about them since your last video(360 cam)but would love to know how the 360 one is doing being 40m from your house?and looking at the price......well going to have to really think about it.
Hey Stuart, long time subscriber. Quick question please.... Can you add this to two phones? One for my elderly folks and one for me to keep an eye out on their house? Thanks in advance, or anyone else in same position.😊
My experience of Eufy cameras is not good. After two months my external camera packed up, and when I checked it was water logged! Not very weather proof…. However I still find myself watching the whole video! 😂
I have been considering these types of cameras but the reviews often mention poor reliability and no customer support. To add to that I am not impressed with the pixelated video quality.

WoW! That night/ colour mode is outstanding. That and the fact that it’s plug and play and solar powered has me keen to get one. 👍🏾
Oops! Just seen the price £££ 😂

Absolutely, I've always gone with a DVR system and still to this day

It takes a lot to impress me.. I'm the most cynical... But as a diy'er, that night vision to me is incredible, very impressive
Well done Stuart. Be mindful of your neighbours.
Going to need to change that Toshiba drive before too long. Had so many issues with these drives. I work in IT btw. Hope you don't have the same issues.
Super, that's me sold
How did the solar panel fair out with the camera did it do its job with the camera ?

Good idea, except most of the Eufy cameras screw into those mounts on the wall. A bit like a standard camera mount. 😬

That night vision is staggering!
I have this camera and it does need some light for the color night vision to work. It will not see in complete darkness or without IR.
Fitting your own security is DIY. I have a Ring system with multiple cameras and a subscription… This system seems far superior.
Lets be honest though, anything is superior to Ring. By the time it actually opens up a video of who is at my front door, I've already been kidnapped.
I have the latest models and to be honest their brilliant mine are a upgrade from my old eufy cameras which were brilliant too 🤔😎
I absolutely love these cameras mind you the Amazon price is really quite steep at £500.00 for just 2 cams on the system.

Thanks Stuart . Excellent timing , as I am looking for a new security system to update my old system.👌
I'd be careful, this system is rather expensive, and this video is definitely a paid advertisement.
Stewart this is a great video of the Eufy I’m looking at the Eufy E340 Video Doorbell, could you please consider this as a possible video
How far away from the Wi-Fi hub can these be positioned? I have a blink system at the moment and the cameras barely connect at only 5 meters away.
The garden one on the Eufy2 we have is fixed around 17m from the hub and router, no signal problems at all
Brills, well done.
Amazing camera system
Good info thanks
Amazing piece of kit, my question you didn’t cover is can you add more faces to the settings as most of us have more than one person
You've certainly spiked my interest as I have 2 Tapo cameras that aren't that reliable as the sd cards stop working after a while and the subscription is the thick end of £10 for multiple cameras. Do you know if the Eufy doorbell can also be linked to the homebase?

Also, I can’t see solar working int UK Autumn/Winter. We just don’t get enough sun.
In the 90s u had to have a infor red unit mounted long side the camera in order to get the night vision
The PIR on my cheap solar wall security lights are vastly superior to the pitiful unit on my recently installed Eufy camera
Apart from the free kit, how much are they paying you for this commercial?
What’s it got to do with you?
It's none of your business Mr Green.
@@relaxreflect5888 What's my question got to do with you?

Really impressive night vision!
Quick question. Solar panel powered....... is the panal operating on dull/ low light days ?
I’ve had my solar camera installed for around a month and the battery is still 100%
The camera is permanently armed most days.
@dazdaz105 thank you
Stuart…I don’t recall you answered the many questions on the last security camera regarding Wi-Fi coverage some distance from the home.
We'll have to wait, it seems....

Thanks for the review.
How about a video on doing a bathroom renovation. Maybe removing and installing a sink and toilet?
He’s done all his bathrooms probably, so that’s why he’s doing stupid jobs like this.
Good reviews and was thinking about them since your last video(360 cam)but would love to know how the 360 one is doing being 40m from your house?and looking at the price......well going to have to really think about it.
Night vision is impressive. Bit confused, is your drive for 2 houses and if so I hope your neighbours are OK with the viewing angle?
You get what you pay for, and these definitely look the business 👍
Hi, great video, does it run using your own home wifi or on it's own wifi system?
Is the wire from the solar panel to the camera weather protected?
Superb system...cost?
Can you run more than 4 cameras to that hub
Hey Stuart, long time subscriber. Quick question please....
Can you add this to two phones? One for my elderly folks and one for me to keep an eye out on their house?
Thanks in advance, or anyone else in same position.😊
You can add other users.
I don't (and never will) own a smartphone. Is it possible to fit and run the cameras without one?
During setup does it give the option to deny the face recognition feature?
My experience of Eufy cameras is not good. After two months my external camera packed up, and when I checked it was water logged! Not very weather proof…. However I still find myself watching the whole video! 😂
You're getting reflections when in flood light and ir modes because it's too close to the wall
I have been considering these types of cameras but the reviews often mention poor reliability and no customer support. To add to that I am not impressed with the pixelated video quality.
Impressive!
Trip wires with 12 g blanks work best , no need for cameras , but if u have cams its faf wen they shit themselves
When happened to your channel "Proper Engineering"? You haven't posted anything in a few months.
Thanks Stuart for a useful update on what looks like a really useful security product. 👍
Does it rout or does it route?
Cost for these is ridiculous. £500 for hub and 2 cameras....
Not another advert.....🤦♂

While the sensor in the camera is capable of a theoretical 4k the bit rate is so diabolical that the quality won't be 4k quality.
They didn't even let testers try the 24/7 and they have already broken the deadline of an October release for the update to enable it.

Very useful review, Stuart, might get them for my shop too!
How does it work if you install far away from router

The problem I have with all of these “battery powered” cams is that none of them (afaik) have replaceable batteries, so like everything else (phones etc), when the battery dies the camera needs replacing. I just can’t buy into that……

Adding facial recognition to a home security system. If that isn’t a recipe for abuse of privacy then I don’t know what is, true 1984 stuff there.
