Lovely video. Think I’ll get one. We’ve had a EUFY video doorbell for about 2 years. I think pound for pound it’s the best piece of technology I’ve ever bought. The clarity day and night is superb. We can talk to people at our door remotely even from Italy! It’s just incredible!
Wow, not one single negative aspect to this camera whatsoever or even a slight criticism! A 100% perfect product from the sponsor of this video that gave him it for free and will probably give him other things for free because of this completely unbiased review. I’ll be sure to buy it immediately and seek no other opinions 😐
I've just fitted this camera in my daughters back yard, pretty amazing so far, it could pick up wisperd converastion from yards away and the camera does indeed follow you about. A neat feature is you can set preset the views of the yard so it always has a good view, it's peripheral vision is really good, love how it’s no subscription, that’s so much better than RING!
I've got 3 of these cameras and they are awesome. I used to have ring floodlight cameras and converted over at the beginning of the year. They have worked flawlessly and are always fully charged from the solar panel. The only downside if it is one is that when using the 3 x zoom lens, the camera has to be mounted at at least 3m + off the ground otherwise it cant see very high at a distance. I also have a home base 3 for recording away from the camera (Without, if a thief stole your camera the footage would go with it). Within the Eufy family, only the Home base 3 or later work with these cameras so don't get drawn into one of the regular Home Hub 2 deals that come with other cameras. If you add these to your setup they wont integrate. There is also a 4g version that takes a sim card for remote areas with no wifi.
When I first saw the video i checked them out on Amazon and they were £129. After a couple of weeks u decided to purchase and the price was then £179. I have waited a few weeks and lo and behold with the Amazon prime 2day sale they have dropped back to £129. Makes you wonder. Still bought one but glad I waited!!
Now set up and works brilliantly. Documentation is non existent even the chat option can only tell you how to screw it to the wall. Figured most of it out by trial and error. Took two days of playing with it though. Sadly that’s the way with most technology products these days. But still a great security camera. My old Lidl ones were going all day long because of the sun shining through a hedge and producing shadows. This unit has yet to falsely trigger in 4 days.
In your case this might be a solution, but for anyone thinking about getting a security camera, please go for Power over Ethernet and not Wi-Fi. This will give you reliable 24/7 monitoring, especially if you also include NVR to record long term. Whatever brand you go with, make sure there are no subscription requirements for storage, either built in SD card or mentioned NVR. Having said that, I am really doubtful that a solar-powered camera can work reliably in the UK, especially in northern locations in winter. I have a solar-powered weather station from Ecowitt which also has battery backup (2xAA). There are times when super capacitor in it doesn't get fully charged for several days in a row in winter, when the sun rarely shines without clouds.
We have had 3 of these cameras in our back yard for over one year. Truly remarkable technology that continues to receive useful OTA updates. They survived Texas hail, torrential rains, very cold winter and heat that’ll fry an egg. Solar power panel charges on overcast days! One of the solar panels is not optimally positioned, yet never runs out of battery power. Internet connection and set up is easy and there are rare disconnects. Keeping an eye on our sneaky puppy, day or night, to stop it digging holes is our favorite bonus. Plus, there was no need for an electrician. Worth every penny!
Love your videos usually but I'm not sure about these sponsored reviews. I guess you've been given guidelines on what to say/not say. TH-camrs usually say when they can say whatever they want. No mention of current price or WiFi range. Another massive one for outdoor cameras is water resistance. That usb connection on the back providing power doesn't look like it'll stand up to much. A water resistance test would be great for an actual review.
Just installed “ eufy “ camera system this week and found the hardest part was obtaining the account necessary 🙄 not a bad product but my battery operated 2c cameras are a bit hit and miss with detection and recording activity. I was also a bit disappointed that that I can’t continuously record as with earlier camera systems and an account is necessary to use them which is not what I want. It appears that these days you can’t just purchase a product and use it, you must have an account which as with the camera systems regularly request access to this and that 😡 I’ll probably look into higher quality cameras on the same system in the future. To date I’d rate my system about 60% satisfactory but I probably purchased the more basic package so we’ll see. Excellent as always Stuart 👍👍
Bit of a weird request lol. But I know that you are an engineer. Could you do some videos on subsidence and cracking, I feel from experience people worry too much about it when most buildings naturally move for a variety of reasons and its seldom explained on any TH-cam channel.
Thanks for the review. Like many other commentors, I've used eufy cameras for quite some time. Love them. This camera is definitely worth the upgrade cost.

Looks a great camera and I love the solar charging. Would love you to come back on this later in the winter when it's dark and very wet to comment whether it can sustain power in those darker months with such a small solar panel and also whether the constant rain causes any issues.
I love your videos but this one is too much down the advert route (or is it rowt) and the main query of everyone watching is about the wifi signal strength. I notice you haven't answered the queries which is a bit telling. I'm not throwing my dummy out the pram but personally I prefer your usual content
Good review Stuart. I’d welcome your thought on the solar charging in darker months and also did you check out the range capacity that it picks up your WiFi? Cheers 👍

My eufy cameras with attached solar panels have been fine for nearly 2 years. Only have to charge the doorbell every 6 months or so as its running solely on battery
Great video, thanks, I've been looking for inspiration into getting a new type of security cam, by looking at your video it seems to show more than adequate picture quality day or night, it looks to be easy enough to setup aswell, and not only that, but you don't need to pay to a monthly subscription service, winner 👍👍💯
Great product review, Stuart. I like how you connected the unit to your router (pn "rowter" as in wood working) rather than router (pn "rooter" as in WiFi) 🙂

My Mum lives alone now in Spain and i was looking for a camera and this one seems to hit the spot, a little bit more research on my behalf and will be taken this one over with me in November..
It's not very good, by a lot of accounts. There's much better options, but they will cost more money and ideally be wired in, if you want it to work properly and not be a pain in the bum.
As always great video, Looks like a good product . I’m always sceptical about wireless surveillance tech, who else is monitoring your movements 🤔. How well will the power system last🤷🏽. 👍🏻
Got a number of Eufy devices around the house including a doorbell and separate cameras. The phone app handles multiple cameras. Plus you can give access to other people so family and friends can view the footage.
I have a similar PTZ camera which operates by 4G sim cards. It mean I can put it anywhere and see what's going on. In fact it's on my boat right now and it's powered by solar. Great Tech
Eufy have had privacy issues in the past. They were found to be uploading images to the internet unsecured. Caveat Emptor. Good advice for camera's: - Position at least 3m above the ground so they can't be easily accessed, but not so high you can't see peoples faces. - Wireless camera's can be jammed. Wired is always preferred where practical. - Don't rely on the SD card local storage on the camera. If it fails you lose all your footage. - Don't rely on internet only connections, if you're internet goes down, you get no recordings. - Local storage in your house is always preferred, make sure it's out of the way where no-one will see it. The most important things with security cameras is that you are in control, not the manufacturer.
Do you happen to know if these work if you block Internet access for them? For example set the gateway to something that has no Internet connection etc
@@andypyne if mine have no connection to wi-fi I cannot view a live connection via the app, not sure if they still work though but I imagine they would save any alerts on the SIM card that they could be viewed later, you would not get live alerts though
I have reolink cameras and can view my cameras with no Internet, obviously need to be on same local network though. Not sure what the other manufacturers are like.
For everybody with range questions, i do have a bit of info and personal experience. I have both a Eufy doorbell cam and a solar cam in my back garden an i have installed a solar cam at my mother in laws. the WiFi connection isn't the best in all honesty. i would highly recommend a WiFi extender close to where the camera is fitted. my router is upstairs and until i got a WiFi extender for downstairs the connection was terrible. at the mother in laws, her connection isn't the best and her router is about 8 meters away from the camera, going through a few walls.. alerts and live view can be delayed, which kind of defeats the point. otherwise, i'm happy with my cameras and think they are worth the fairly low price.
This looks pretty handy for remote places! But I'll be curious to see how well it holds up against weather changes. 🤔 Like, will it still work well when it snows? ❄️📸
I was going to post the same when I seen this, I have Eufy camera and a gig connection and I can't even get a camera around the rear of my house never mind 40m away, it was the one thing never covered. The cameras in general are good and the other thing I can say it has no subscription hence why I chose Eufy over Ring.
Sorry Stewart but this camera has some very bad reviews on Amazon. I hope yours keeps going but please do share any problems you may have in the future. As usual a very well put together video.
Great piece of kit. Good value. I think the very fact that the camera head tracks a person is a great deterrent in itself. Any baddy thinking about entering your property would most likely assume that they were being live monitored. That's enough to unbad any baddy.
We have the same brand at work which are great except if you get a lot of traffic your forever recharging the batteries. So the solar are a great solution for the ones outside
Have owned a Eufy solar camera for two years. South facing but Manchester UK weather. It records all sorts including an attempt to try and scan my car keys, an attempted break in and numerous foxes at night. Downloading the files for the police was very easy. In that time I had to take the camera down once every January to manually charge it. Otherwise it happily keeps charging even without full sun. Mine has the spotlight but as there is a streetlight outside I found the picture quality was much better when not using it. When they tried to scan for my keys they were unsuccessful but then stole the car opposite. Even with faces covered, the clothing, trainers, height and build were clear as day. The police knew who it was which led to their arrest and vehicle recovery. I highly recommend these cameras. Incidentally I have two neighbours with Ring doorbells. Both keep forgetting to replace/recharge the batteries. We don’t have that issue.
I've had 3 of these for nearly a year and they are always virtually fully charged. They get OK sun. Unless you are sticking these in a very sheltered / dark area, they will work great. There's also quite a bit of flexibility in the set up to try and save battery power if required. I went the other way and use more power than standard and mine are always fully charged.
They say 3 or 4 hours, my house faces north which is why I went for the cameras with built in larger batteries, they have worked well so far and I expect to have to charge them every 3 months or so, Eufy say they last 6 months but I guess it depends on how you set up the alerts and sensitivity, less sensitive longer life...
There's a lot of negativity in these comments which is hardly constructive! There is clearly a valid application for this product as Stuart demonstrates, and if the price matches up to the benefit to you personally, then anyone interested can buy it and try it out. The real issue is its durability through the winter. Maybe there will be a follow up in due course? Knowing the IP rating and the battery performance would be useful.
@@oldjake4233 They know what the camera is, you can literally just google the range, if thieves were serious about it that is what they would do, ommitting the information only hinders genuinely interested people.
Looks great. Someone keeps clipping the dividing driveway wall and denying it, so this would be a great addition. Can you set it to stop at a set degree of rotation so it doesn't intrude on privacy of neighbours?
Looks like a good alternative to the subscription based Ring models. I have set the solar versions of them up at my mother-in-laws house, front and back. These seem like a better option, and priced about the same.
40m away and you can still connect to WiFi? Please explain as I have one on the outside of my house which initially struggled to connect to my router (the previous cheaper camera I had, didn’t have a problem). I had to get a WiFi extender in the adjacent room just to give it that extra boost. If I can position mine away from the house, it will be a game changer. As always, great content.
All these wireless cameras and doorbells have awful wifi reception. The camera in this video is no different and you would deffo need a mesh system, extender etc for it to work, and the end signal needs to be strong and very close to the camera for reliable video.
Eufy kit is on sale from time to time. Parent company is Anker who have a solid reputation. Can you point me at an equivalent at a much lower price point?
I would love a couple of these but can't believe that little solar panel would keep it charged... That camera is using a lot of battery, hope I am wrong, would love some feedback about the usability or endurance of this! Great video, thanks!
I may have missed something, but how did you connect this to the internet if the barn building is 40m from your house? If its connected via the mobile network does this not invlove a monthly charge?
Great video. Thankyou. Looks an amazing product but if it's anything like my other solar lights etc in the garden, it won't last more than an hour or two with the weather in this country! The movement, audio and light with the unit I'm sure would zap the battery in no time, especially when relaying on solar alone. We just don't get that consistency in this country. Shame as it looks brilliant.
There is no mention of WiFi signal because the distance from his house is substantially quite far I have a eufy camera fitted above the back door and I needed an extra router fitted in the kitchen just to get a signal. I will say I’ve had it about 8 months and it’s still at 96% full.
I’m sold. I’ve got a Ring camera. Gave up on the door bell because the internet wifi wasn’t up to it, and had to keep resetting. Customer care useless. Remaining camera is out of reach of passing idiots by necessity but is a ladder job to remove, recharge and replace battery. Monthly payment scheme tried for trial period but not worth the cost. Hoping for better with the Eufy.
Just a heads up, wifi cameras can be easily disabled remotely with wifi jammers. Ethernet cameras that upload to remote storage via wired internet is what you want for optimal surveillance. Or that upload to a locked up computer in your house.
With the Eufy system as the video is stored on a local hard drive there is no cloud storage subscription! And that is a big selling point for many people. Yes wifi jammers can disable the cameras but they are illegal and not carried by most opportunist toe rags, No system is 100% perfect but for a relatively inexpensive cost the Eufy systems are hard to beat right now.
@@elminster8149 To be clear, there was a law suit against Eufy's parent company regards to facial recognition video footage held on their cloud servers this security breach was patched well over a year ago and since most users do NOT subscribe to the cloud storage there is no chance of any breach anyway. That is exactly why I choose to use local rather than cloud storage.
Looks great! How reliable is it connected to your home router? I get very little signal outside the house due I think to the amount of foil backed insulation we have (new build), so the signal may be problematic?
My family have Eufy products as made by an arm of Anker who make the good power banks and no subscription fees. Would have been good to state the prices but that is easily found online and on amazon. Plus have deals all the time. What does concern me is the WiFi range to speak to your router.
Great review and looks like a very good piece of kit, would you think, it be okay to use higher up than the 2-3 meters. like something higher on a facia board approx. 6-7 mts. Thanks
It would be interesting to see how such a tiny solar panel performs over winter when sunlight is in short supply.. I have a 300W solar panel on garage roof which charges 100Ah car battery. I used to power my cam from this setup which worked fine until December when the battery ran down and had to be manually charged once per week. I have since updated to power over ethernet. The camera only uses 2-4Watts (depending on IR illumination) but displays live video - so more energy than one that triggers on events like here.
I like the solar so power not needed, but I assume you still need to be in range of your internet hub or router? So a bit limited on how far out you can go.
I have a log cabin at the bottom of a long garden, and I use a pair of Ubiquiti nano stations (less than £50 each) to act as a wireless bridge between house and cabin. They are external access points, easy enough to set up and I get enough bandwidth to work on computers in the cabin. Bonus is that the whole garden now has wifi access.
@@nialstewart8263 I have power run in armoured cable to the cabin -- I need it to run it as an office. The wireless bridge saves me from having to run a data cable. The distance is too far for ethernet, so I'd need a repeater or I'd need to run fibre. The wireless bridge was way cheaper and simpler than either of those options.
Just had a thought whilst watching and thought if that camera can track it's subject would it be possible for the solar panel to track the sun in a similar way.. 🤔
Love your channel BUT this isn't a review, it is an ADVERT. It feels like you have been given a script of key points you have to mention in the "review". This isn't not an honest review you viewers have come to expect. And you usually get the price in at the beginning of your reviews, I bet on this one the cost comes right at the end.
don't think that he gave the price at all, Amazon have them at £179, or refurbished versions at £119. There are currently 1046 reviews on Amazon of which 73% are five star. If I were looking for one I would start by reading the 6% which are rated one star and go from there.
Hi Stuart, since the camera is able to be charged from a USB power supply therefore can it be wired permanently to such a supply and do without the solar panel? I have a North facing aspect in front of my garage I wish to survey, no problem fixing to the wall but an over hang is going to shade the solar panel and even using the extension lead is going to be problematic to get it to face South.
If the solar panel works like our solar lights, I can see trouble ahead when the light is low in winter, and if this was sent free, is it really an unbiased review

Good advice for camera's:
- Position at least 3m above the ground so they can't be easily accessed, but not so high you can't see peoples faces.
@@andypyne No idea, best to google around for info, or go for something like Reolink and get security advice from a competent person.
@@JamesTombs You can use something like Tailscale to connect to them from your phone.
Thanks for the great review!
Can you set the length of the recording?
This video came along at an uncannily opportune time. Thanks Stuart!
Bought one while watching the video
Will rip you a new one if it’s not as good as the video.
As a subscriber I’m sure it will be .
Arrived this morning just hours after watching your video and ordering it , it does seem very good . Plan to fit it tomorrow 👍🥸
Well done for putting your camera on every Chinese internet site that cares to look at it.
This looks pretty handy for remote places! But I'll be curious to see how well it holds up against weather changes. 🤔 Like, will it still work well when it snows? ❄️📸
If you barn is 40 mt from the house im impressed your WiFi reaches this far to allow connectivity for the camera. What router are you using ?
😂 Same! My ring doorbell struggles to pick up my router through the front door and hall stairs lol (3m)
Was thinking exactly the same thing... 🤔
Perfectly timed video, I am looking to install cameras but I’m wondering the same thing.
Probably got a 5g WiFi box
I was going to post the same when I seen this, I have Eufy camera and a gig connection and I can't even get a camera around the rear of my house never mind 40m away, it was the one thing never covered. The cameras in general are good and the other thing I can say it has no subscription hence why I chose Eufy over Ring.
Great video. Well narrated. Seem like a product many need these day. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge.
I've just ordered one with Home Hub, Thanks for the detailed instructions very handy for me
Sorry Stewart but this camera has some very bad reviews on Amazon. I hope yours keeps going but please do share any problems you may have in the future. As usual a very well put together video.
! Don't You Realize that if it's WiFi through the internet then the Government and worse USA or Israel can control it!
I have 2 internal and 2 external eufy cameras, all mains operated though. Been really pleased with them and app is brilliant to use.
Great piece of kit. Good value. I think the very fact that the camera head tracks a person is a great deterrent in itself. Any baddy thinking about entering your property would most likely assume that they were being live monitored. That's enough to unbad any baddy.
I've worked in security and I can assure you that these cameras are not a deterrent, they are just a means of surveillance.
@@Crazy_Dave Probably by people in China.
Thanks for the info Stuart. I'm looking for a security solution ( CCTV ) for my property, and this item will certainly be added to my remote shed .
We have the same brand at work which are great except if you get a lot of traffic your forever recharging the batteries. So the solar are a great solution for the ones outside
Would be nice to know, how many hours of sun this needs to be properly charged (at least until the next day). You know, winter coming and all...
If you connect the unit to your ‘router’ will it cut half inch round-overs too?
I do hate it when UK based TH-camrs feel the need to pander to Americans.
Look forward to the annual review
That looks like a great camera
There's a lot of negativity in these comments which is hardly constructive! There is clearly a valid application for this product as Stuart demonstrates, and if the price matches up to the benefit to you personally, then anyone interested can buy it and try it out. The real issue is its durability through the winter. Maybe there will be a follow up in due course? Knowing the IP rating and the battery performance would be useful.
Good review of the product. But I would really like to know how you got it connected to an internet, in your house, and 40 meters away!
From looking thru the comments, I think u need to answer the wi-fi range queries...
Eufy probably asked him NOT to mention the range as it would be a massive drawback. Same goes for the price (£180 if anyone interested)
He won't in case potential thieves read the comments and decide to try and neutralize his security cameras.
@@oldjake4233 nothing that a balaclava and a ladder can't do!

exactly what i just said ..easy for someone to steal ........why people just can't secure their home properly is beyond me
Looks great.
The camera in this video is no different and you would deffo need a mesh system, extender etc for it to work, and the end signal needs to be strong and very close to the camera for reliable video.
love your nice simple "Dad" reviews, cheaper options out there tho!
Eufy kit is on sale from time to time. Parent company is Anker who have a solid reputation. Can you point me at an equivalent at a much lower price point?
@@devjon123 Reolink
@@devjon123 Solid rep really? You may want to google Eufy Video Doorbell data breach.
How long will it function in winter with very short days and especially when it's gray and overcast in winter ect 🤔
The problem with any wireless system is of course they are easily frequency jammed.
!Don't You Realize that if it's WiFi through the internet then the Government and worse USA or Israel can control it!
We have a solar camera and it is fine for 10 months a year but during December and January there is not enough power to make it work.
Ok but how about in winter? Do they still charge
Remote storage requires an internet connection. Always better to store locally in your house, if the internet goes down you don't lose footage.
With the Eufy system as the video is stored on a local hard drive there is no cloud storage subscription! And that is a big selling point for many people. Yes wifi jammers can disable the cameras but they are illegal and not carried by most opportunist toe rags,
No system is 100% perfect but for a relatively inexpensive cost the Eufy systems are hard to beat right now.
@@SidBonkers51 Eufy has a poor history for security. They were caught uploading unencrypted data from 'local' storage to the net.
@@elminster8149 Old news, resolved with a simple data update a long time ago.
Nice device. Thanks for the well explained demonstration. Will certainly look into this. Ta x
People over 50 aint past it! Some of us develop console / computer games for a living!!
good advert
The only thing you’re gonna get for that camera is disappointment delays frustrating disconnections and more 😂 oh the battery going flat in the winter
Stuart,
The barn is a distance away from your house, and likely your wifi network.
Do you have wifi at the barn, or does the camera work on 4G / 5G?
GKreat equipment, I have a number of Eufy cameras and a Homebase, as you say 'they just work'
Good luck with the solar charging come January
@@Clockwork_PlanetHow do you power the ubiquiti kit?
It does say paid promotion at the begining
Nice camera but if you got a power source there can you plug it into the mains for example in winter time and the solar doesn’t keep it charged
Hi. Great security cameras. How much is this system please? Would like to invest in one of these. Great video's, by the way. 👍
Very well explained
Great demonstration. Is there a link where to buy it an price pls.thank u
Terrific video as usual, very helpful, very informative many thanks. And a superb product too. So pleased you took up the companies offer.
Got 4 of these on my property they are great cameras
With are uk weather am not sure it will work all year round as my garden lights have stop altogether I wish you well....
Thanks for the “even people above fifty can do it “ 😂

If the solar panel works like our solar lights, I can see trouble ahead when the light is low in winter, and if this was sent free, is it really an unbiased review
