Eufy having a home pod is NOT a disadvantage. I understand why anyone would take it like that but that’s only due to not being informed. The reason why eufy uses an external HomePod is to avoid and prevent people from hacking your system and stealing your videos. This is actually a FEATURE designed for extreme safety measure
I've got my homebase plugged into a UPS along with my modem, router and a few other things. In a power outage it means not only me base stays up, but so does my internet, home network, television (news) etc. It's not a bad investment to have.
Great Video I have about 10 different Eufy cameras inside and outside. The solar ones have kept going in -40 C and torrential direct rain for a couple of years and counting. I can access all of them very reliably in one app. There’s some “noise” out there but (see the comments for this video) but overall these cameras are excellent.
Did you say it's made by Anker? Be wary of their Terms of Service: If you want full functionality (wireless connectivity, which is needed for firmware updates). They can update the ToS at any time and the ToS "shall be deemed effective upon the sending by us of an email". They can put whatever [insert unimaginable terms here] they want and you have preemptively agreed to them
😀I have been using Eufy cameras for a few years now and love them. I was waiting on someone I could trust to do a review on this solar camera kit. THANKS!!
I have the previous gen in the south of France where it is rarely overcast. In winter the battery charge drops a fair bit, even with clear view of the sun till mid-afternoon. Minor vegetation screening caused another cam to be unable to support motion detection during the summer. So in the UK, I would say be prepared to hook up a power bank once or twice a year.
I have the older Eufy cameras with the older base station and my base station has a battery backup built in. It still stores video even when the power goes out. You just can't access it until your wifi router comes back on. I also got the solar panel for it it so I don't have to ever charge it.
Interesting. But your talking about a power drop, offcource then your wifi drops too. But while this s3 pro don't have any memory, many eufy cameras also have a 8gb internal memory and shouldn't be impacted by an power drop. The question might be if the video recorded within a power drop time is later migrated to the home base when power comes back, or if it's only available in the camera with the app? Could test the s340 or even the super cheap s220/s230 or any other with that storage feature.
I have the model that track motion and has two lens. Nothing gets by without them tracking. They also have stitching feature if you have muiltiple camera. It will combine multiple camers tracking into one vide. Like if someone walks from my front yard to the back...all of that is summarized into one video. I thought that was nice
Yeah, I took a chance on eufy. It sucks. It only records very short clips and the battery does not last long in the winter. I like my wyze cameras with local storage.
I have had them for 5 years. They don't last long in cold climate and wet locations. I would rather pay twice the price and get waterproofing in a real battery and real solar charging
Hi there, I have some questions : I really want to buy such cameras, but knowing the price for 4 cameras, roughly £800-900, I’m wondering how long they will last because apparently the batteries cannot be replaced. they need at least 1 full hour of direct sun to work one full day. Knowing that we are going towards winter days, i mean shorter days, less sub, cloudy, rainy or snowing etc, so is there a way to plug them into main power switches ? Also are they recording 24/7 or only when some movements are detected ? Thanks.
You didnt mention if the camera battery can be removed and charged....Can it? Suppose the camera is mounted up high on the outside wall under the eaves and does not get direct sunlight.
I’ve got two of these cameras at my summer house, and compared to the Arlo cameras I use at my home, these Eufy really suck when it comes to motion detection. Basically have to stand 1-2 meters infront of the cameras waving my hands for them to react (with motion detection set to the most sensitive level). Arlo picks up everything, these barely nothing. They do have good battery life tho, for what’s that is worth.
Nope! I wouldn't be surprised if they have cameras with this feature, however these specific S3Pro cameras we have don't take an SD card.. would be a cool upgrade to see in the future though!
As many security breaches eufy has had, most egregiously letting people see random peoples camera live feeds, I wouldn’t trust them to home surveillance. If you want solar cameras, look into local based systems like Reolink. Not only have they not had security breach issues or people seeing other customers camera feeds, but if the company ever goes out of business all your cameras still work
The issue was thumbnails not the actual video was sent to the cloud when they opted out. Also, eufy is owned by Anker, they aren't going out of business any time soon and been in business will over a decade.

I've got a Solocam S40 and it's got a few GB of storage onboard. Also, it decided that it didn't want to connect to the wifi any more on month 13 of its 12 month warranty. Battery life is good, though. Only had to charge in once in winter.
you talked about trust but you never mentioned that they were uploading your videos to there servers and it was never encrypted. this aloud everyone to have access to your videos.
Yeah, that never happened. They uploaded a thumbnail as part of their text notification. Certainly not a huge security issue unless you're running in front of them naked waiting for it to text you that there's motion. 🙄
