    I have evolved from sub 40$ CRKT's, Kershaw etc. In the last few years into 100-250$ ZT's Spyderco's and TRM's. In the last year. Now I dream of a Hinderer especially because I am from Ohio. MC, this video may be the sign I have been looking for to make the next jump. 😁🔪⚔👍

    My first Hinderer was an XM-18 3.5 Spanto. In my mind the spanto is synonymous with Hinderer and I really wanted that blade style in particular. Sure, it's not the best slicer in the world but I knew what I was getting into with that thickness of blade stock and I've really enjoyed using it.

    Hinderer knives have definitely come a long way over the year. I wish they focus on the "lock-up" next. I have an XM-18, an Eclipse, and a Full Track, and they all give in to the slightest spine whacks even with 40% to 50% lock-up. My Reates and Bestchs can hold up against much stronger whacks. I know I'll never need to do that to my knives in the field, but for the price, I expect my Hindereres to hold up too. I love their fit, finish and ergos. They look pretty bad ass too. It's just the lock-up that doesn't inspire confidence. May be it's just me, may be I got all the lemons. I don't know... Anyway, thanks MC, for the awesome content!! Love it!!

    I finally got a skinny no choil slicer in the last drop a week ago! It surprises me how much lighter it is than the standard XM-18 or 0562. The detent is a bit stiff so my finger is still getting used to it, but it’s simply a great knife. I love the overbuilt feeling of the standard thickness XM, though I’m sure the skinny is way tougher than I expect or need 👍

  • @SliceyDicey

    Kinda fell for the skinny. I think all my XM-18's will be skinnies from here on out.

    I bought my first Hinderer after watching your videos and just bought my third, this same skinny no choil slicer from DLT trading. It’s amazing, drops shut like a dream (after I tweaked the lock bar tension), and is my favorite of the three. I would agree that it’s definitely superior to my 0562 (the double clutch is irritating) and that it’s the ideal model to start on the hinderer slippery slope. It’s up there with my favorite knives with only two drawbacks, 1) I’m just not a big fan of the working finish, it actually shows more wear for me than a standard stonewash, and 2) I want a milled titanium skinny scale. I may do a diy hand rubbed finish on the main bevel and will keep my fingers crossed for a fancy scale.

    You introduced me to Hinderer knives... I don't have one yet, but it's models like this that make me drool, I love thin slicey knives. And the Hinderer knives just look like a work of art. I know I'm gonna buy one eventually, but I might have to get my girlfriend one at the same time so that she can't get mad at me lol.

    Didn't go for the Skinny but it still Cuts :😀 (big surprise right?)
    Take care und congrats to the Chiefs win, i watched the game in germany, it was crazy till the verry end!

    First hinderer was a 3" wharny several years ago. It would barely flip with that light blade and weak-ass detent. I recently got the new tri-way 3.5" spanto and it flips excellently, and the extra size of the 3.5" is a real improvement to me. On the negative side, this is the dullest knife I've ever purchased. I'm going to have to sharpen this immediately. It will just barely draw cut printer paper.

  • @Antimonyish

    Skinny Sheepsfoot was my XM-18 gateway as well. I now own a regular, that's a bit of a safe queen, but the skinny gets used daily. I even swapped to the teflon washers so I don't worry about gunking up the pivot with debris. My perfect knife would be a Skinny blade, but with regular scales. Skinnies cut, and they cut very well, even gives my Inkosi a run for it's money, but that hollow grind is just peeeerfect.

    Dear Metal Complex, I hope you keeping well! We're coming to Christmas, and I love to bring a nice knife to Christmas dinner to open gifts. I own a hindere XM18, Protech Malibu, and SOG Kiku. Should I use one of the higher end knives? Should I leave them at home? Love to know you thoughts on collecting knives that you save up for, finally own, and need to decide to use or not to use. I have two of the original grail knives, the Sebenza and the Strider SNG, purchased over a decade ago. The Hinderer was the only one of the trifecta I didn’t originally purchase. I have been considering purchasing one now, so a idea of which one to buy has helped. Thanks.

    • @jesser8369
      @jesser8369 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey average Joe it maybe a year later but if you're still considering a Hinderer. I'd recommend the Eklipse for the ergos, and less aggressive jimping. With that said nothing wrong with the xm18. Go with a skinny, or a 3.0 for regular edc and the standard or fatty for hardwork. I've also heard good things about the Jurassic and it looks like a solid design.

    I've had many Hinderer XM-18's. The Gen 2 slicer grind non-flipper was my favorite. Least favorite was the gen 6. Hinderer was one of the few brands that knew how to make an excellent titanium framelock. They didnt need a steel insert.

    I’m starting to come around to hinderer. In the past I’ve stayed clear because of the action. Since the gen 6, I got a regular, and now this, red g10, but with the tumbled stone wash finish. The detent on mine is incredible. It’s quite a bit stronger than my other one. Yeah, this is a more pocketable, edc friendly hinderer, and it’s not likely to leave my pocket any tine soon.
