Love the tips! As a tailor myself I can say that yes, good relationship with a tailor does help to get your suit quicker if needed. Even if I'm extremely busy I'll always do it for a really good customer who appreciates my work. My best customers have fun attitude, usually are fine with my 2 weeks pickup time, they don't necessarily need to leave a tip, but have to be appreciative in general
I still do it at 41 years old but people just don’t want to pay for the work because they are so used to cheap fast fashion that they think I am charging outrageous prices for my work. I have been sewing for almost 30 years and I know a lot!!! I make my own clothes and when people ask me to make something for them they always freak out when I tell them what the price will be. They don’t understand that material is fairly expensive and I am also going to charge for the work I put into it.
Antonio, Let me help you and your viewers to understand, think of a tailor as you do the military, you have Machinists these are like your privates, they possess a little bit of knowledge and can perform tasks in a factory under direct supervision. The Seamstress, these are like your junior officers, they can only perform tasks i.e. assemble clothing parts (jackets or suits) which is more complicated than your Machinist can perform but only to a point (where real skill/experience is required) under the guidance of an experienced Tailor. Then there are Tailors, these are your like your senior enlisted, these are your subject matter experts, they require no supervision, no guidance, they can see flaws (ill fitting clothing) make adjustments, cut patterns, this is where bespoke clothing begins. Once you get into true bespoke clothing and you have managed to find that special Tailor with the knowledge, experience with styles and fabrics, you have now entered into a whole new dimension. This is where you have the elite, the Special Forces of Tailors. With only the objective at hand, these experts will TELL YOU what is required to accomplish this task (bespoke garment) that you could not begin to imagine or understand its complexity, you only need to know that the job will be done better than you could have ever believed. These experts are not easy to find in the world of the so called Dry Cleaner Tailors (the home DIY people who call themselves a tailor, you might even call them Stolen Valour people, they pose as the Special Forces without any of the knowledge, skills, qualifications or experience). Once you do find this a Tailor who can create bespoke clothing, this skilled professional demands a premium price to create this garment for you the customer. Hope this helps.

@plum413 Thanks for the comment! As to them being moody - put yourself in their shoes - would you be upset if people were always trying to lowball you on price when your costs barely pay the rent? Be generous with your tailor and treat them as craftsmen - it makes them happier:)
I went to a Chinese seamstress and she hemmed my jeans just fine but I knew what length I wanted. Next I went to a military tailor with a suit and after much playing with his hearing aid he measured my legs and then the suit pants and told me they were too short without ever seeing them on me (they are indeed too long). Third I went to a guy calling himself a Master tailor with two pants and he didn't get me to try on the pants or asked if I wanted cuffs or what kind of break. My god! I know more than a so called Master tailor just by watching a few style videos. I want a tailor who doesn't let you leave until he has seen the pants on you, asked you what kind of break you want, and then pins them before accepting the job. I am going to see who the men's stores in my area recommend.
I realised today that it probably would have been a good idea to ask the person running a store exclusively selling suits and other items of that liking "Hey, can I ask if you happen to know any tailors in this area?". I've been looking ar and inside of that store for a while now, never considered the fact that he might just know a tailor in the area.

Great video I like suits that make look slim at times I get them fix. The cost is a factor the Taylor some times goes over board with the cost cousing me to go to different places this people are very Moody. How should I talk to them and them to respect a good costumer. Arlington Texas..

When I was talking to him, he didn't understand why a person of a normal size would want a tailor (i.e. he's probably not the best pick!) What are my options for getting tailored clothes? I tried Modern Tailor, and, while the fits are pretty nice, the fabrics are garbage.
Hey have a question let's say you live in a city where there not a lot of fashionable men around if I look for a tailor and all I find is old men who been doing this this forever if I wanted my suit to be adjusted to a fit in a younger guy style, away they would wear it like more fitted ie. The GQ mag look how can I explain the look I'm going for and have him understand.

Amish, most sects, don't use a sewing machine. So I didn't realize they would be the best to go to.
