The A7SIII is sensational, and I'm glad you're aiming for that camera. My only gripe about your A7C review is about using a gimbal. That would remove your stabe problem with the A7C, your workflow issue with Catalyst, the problem of image/lens cropping, the problem of colour shifting, and compatibility issues with third party lenses, like your Laowa. Five problems solved by using a decent gimbal? A modern gimbal could also replace the tripod you're carrying anyway, and give you more cinematic options with perspective and programmed timelapse. I'm still wondering why you haven't explored a modern gimbal option from Camera Canada? Matti Happyboi uses them, why not the Kasey Pony of Hope? In all other respects the A7C footage, with both the Tamron and the 20mm 1.8, looks great. My gripe with the A7C is the price relative to performance, but what it does, it does really well, particularly with the improved Sony colour science and real-time tracking AF, and it's one of the best 24 megapixel stills cameras, too, which the A7SIII doesn't compete with.
Note that if you stabilize in the Catalyst browse app, you probably need to use faster shutter speed so that each frame doesn't have motion blur from your footsteps. Also it crops in, so you loose some resolution :) especially if you're shooting 1080. So you'd have to do 4k and export video as 1080 to not lose quality.
I think you're confusing things here. I'm not saying shutter speed causes quality loss. You would want different shutter speeds based on different situations. Here i'm referring to two limitations of stabilizing footage with this approach: 1- You NEED a fast shutter speed. How fast? as fast as you can have the video without sudden motion blurs cause by abrupt movements. like foot steps. When you step there's a quick jitter, up down motion. This, on slower shutter speeds renders some motion blur. Once you have the motion blur in the pictures (the frames of the video) even when you stabilize them, the motion blur stays. So the video will be stable BUT every time you step, there's a motion blur that appears. I found an example on yt: th-cam.com/video/eITYkg2qam4/w-d-xo.html 2- Any post processing that stabilizes a video, will cause lose of resolution. So ideally you need higher resolution video to compensate for the lost resolution to meet your export resolution. Of course you can accept some loss and consider it just fine :) that's up to you.
Packing Less Well that’s exciting! Swap the sensor stabilization mechanism for a processor to perform the correction in-camera and we’ve got something. Cool channel btw (less really is more). I’ll check out Gordon’s review. Thanks.

I like the value proposition of the A7c. I'm just holding out for a better price on it.
Me too, I’m sure it’s gonna be $1500 for the holidays
A7C when I saw it I laughed, for me looks like my a6300 with crappy IBIS ff sensor, better screen but not worth the upgrade. Paid 750$ new with selp1650 and I like it. Made me about 400$ with stocks. I will go for G9 and leica12-60 good idea for filming?
Forget the crop, the stabe, the autofocus...The one thing I hate about vlogging is that we actually have to talk INTO a camera that we own and spent good money on. That's Bullshit. We should all have someone do the vlog for us on someone else's camera.
Flippy screen, that's 2 seconds... card on the wrong side, that's another 2 seconds... that's 15 seconds right there! I think you've been to the Chris Nichols school of conversion LOL
what are your pc specs?
Ive watched these videos for just over a year. Each time, I have to skip the intro music. If I don't, it gets lodged in my brain for days. "all i want is the perfect..." why is it so catchy?!
I am scared to lose his attention mid way of the video because then I lose track of the story he started with . Love from India lol
Perfection is indeed a harsh mistress on a child's playground.
07:54 I'll quote you on that... 😀
the fuji in the background with secret lens , has a bit to much letters imo i guess its the OLYMPUSSY
well, at least the sd card slot is not on the battery compartment lol
The focal lenght MUST be set in the camera with lenses that do not have contacts if you want the IBIS to work properly!
And yes Sony can't make software - they are really bad at this.
It was set, still won't work with Catalyst.
@@cameraconspiracies Than is is still sony's fault because they suck at making software. It is maybe a simple fix by adding the focal lenght to the exif or something so the software can figure it out but... you do not have batch rendering, you can insert MS stick cards to your A7III, the touch functions are the worst... it is a sony :D
If you already have the a7iii you wouldn't ungrade to the a7c right?
he upgrades to a7sIII
Thanh Thanh can't afford it bro lol
@@maddenfan6683 gypro stablization is good +flip screen +no overheat is necessary for vblog.
it's worthy for ungrade. depend on price. In US A7C cheaper than A73, 200USD. In my country, A7C's more expense than A73. I wait A7C sell off.
Just got my hand with ZV-1 and gyro data works great. Just need to plug a macro and leave the PC on overnight and 3 hours long footages just readily stabilize to edit the next day. Not an issue for me as I don't edit at night.
Ffs. Lockdowns save people’s lives.
Tell that to Sweden.
Camera Conspiracies are you talking about a small country with 582 deaths per million, almost on par with the US 652 deaths per million? By that measure Sweden’s results have been as bad as the US, the global Covid epicenter. -Michigander here
@@Newtperc Don't know where you are pulling those numbers from, a lot of false information. 99.8% survival rate, comparable to the seasonal flu. Even if your numbers were right, it shows Sweden with less deaths despite having no lockdown.
Camera Conspiracies yikes. I thought this channel was satirical conspiracy.
@@Newtperc Yikes to you friend.

So all this issues are belong the Sony Catalyst Browse. Not from the Sony A7C
10 people care. A74 Please!!!!!!!!!
Curious, what computer are you using to render the stablization on catalyst browse that takes an hour for 5 minutes of footage? Would it be significantly reduced in time with a more powerful computer?
I need you to review the Sony A7Riii...which I believe is the perfect camera. My name is Toneh.
I wanna go to a protest about not protesting.
Chanting "we're not gonna protest"
Cool
