    Hi Gary. Finally, a video on how to properly set the preload on a tapered roller bearing. Years ago, a factory representative from Timkin came to the company I worked at and held a presentation on how to set up tapered bearings. He stressed the importance of not over tightening the preload, otherwise the inner and outer bearing races will fail in a surprisingly short amount of time. He also joked that the correct torque value for the gland nut is what a 5 year old little girl can tighten with her hand. Anyway, great video. Thanks. 🦊

      Hey Bill! Thanks so much buddy. I’ve been waiting for the internet mafia to come down on me for my process but after reading your comment, my skin is a little thicker 😉👊. Hope you’re well buddy 🙏

    Good tip on the brake lines, I lost one on my first cruise last spring. Could've been bad!

    First drive this season I blew the rear feed line. Was ok made a big burnout on old tires really easy to achieve. Haha My car needs lots of love engine coming out to repair frame and shock towers.

    Most importantly dont forget to grease those muffler bearings. Ive seen ppl stuck on the side of the interstate with locked up muffler bearings. I always have a spare set in the glove box just incase 😎🤥😄

      A really good muffler bearing grease is made by Pissed Off Mufflers in Moose Jaw SK. It contains a high quality wax obtained from the ears of African elephants in western South Africa. I might have made that up.

      @@1991pony man that sounds like quality stuff . Im gonna have to get a 55 gal drum of that stuff to keep the muffler bearings lubed up. Thanks for the tip 👍🤣😂

    Love the channel! It’s great that you show the normal maintenance needed rather than just mods. Good content for the foxbody community. Appreciate it!!

    Definitely check and change your trans fluid.. especially if you have an auto.. just had to rip my valve body out and clean everything because I slacked on my maintenance. On the plus side, I did get the opportunity to install a shift kit so there’s that at least.

    My foxbody has the original brake pads and rotors + rear shoes. I have repacked the wheel bearings though.

    • @olred5.016
      @olred5.016 ปีที่แล้ว

      Careful with old pads. They turn brittle and deteriorate , turning into a cloud of brake dust . Even if they still have 'meat' on them.
      Inspect between pad and backing plate. See if it separates when you pry a small screwdriver between. Or, if it actually crumbles away.
      Don't risk it!

    I've STILL yet to get mine road worthy...but I was considering the suspension rubbers and bushings and all that stuff that will give it a nice ride. What (in your opinion) would be a good set up for a daily driving canyon carving non strip (no roll cafe) only street car with a 392 stroked 351 5 speed? Eventually I would LOVE a 6 speed...but I am not in a rush to destroy a drivetrain...
