    Thanks Krawdad for the insights and we are coming down to Oregon and Utah in less in a month to do some rockhounding and sightseeing. Be great to win, but the real joy is getting to share in the adventures the Lord has blessed you with. Blessings to you and yours

    We just got back from OR but heading back in June since Warm Spring Reservoir and Stinkingwater Creek were impassible. Harney Lake and Beulah Reservoir were a lot of fun with great finds.
    Thanks so much for the video. I am going to share it with a friend who is learning to wire wrap. I prefer silver but copper is fun too. It is a beautiful pendant and I may have to try the antique look.

    What a beatiful necklace 😻 I would love to win it, and would gladly pay for shipping costs myself, since I am in Denmark, Europe and it would probably cost you more than sending it to somewhere in the US 😊

    I'm curious..how long do you tumble them?

    • @krawdadandrusty
      @krawdadandrusty  ปีที่แล้ว

      I usually tumble cabochons for about 5 weeks... 2 weeks on course grit (ie. run a week, clean out, reload and run another week) and then one week on each of the others, medium, pre polish, and polish. I always hope that one week will be enough for course, but it seldom is. I inspect the stones after the first week and if I find any imperfections like scratches or flat spots, they get ran the second week.
      I also have the practice of running a cleaning tumble between grits. I simply rinse the stones well and then reload with clean water and a table spoon of Borax and tumble for at least an hour. This assures that there is no cross contamination from either the stones or the barrel. At the end of the whole tumbling process, I tumble the polished stones in water and Borax for at least a day as a burnish.
      I hope this gives you some ideas that you can use. If it keeps snowing here😕, I'll do a video on my typical cab making process.
