      Stick to moisturizing for a couple weeks and cut everything else out of your routine. Use the most gentle cleanser if you’re currently using something that’s not the most gentle. Use something with barrier repairing ingredients like cica, panthenol, etc. The La Roche Posay Cicaplast baum is a good option, it’s very very thick and contains all those good barrier repairing ingredients

    So helpful! I haven't been washing my hands beforehand or cleansing long enough. I discovered a huge positive difference after I switched from fabric towels to paper towels. Now I use pure cotton disposable towels. They're about the size of facial tissue but thicker and softer. I used to double cleanse regularly, every 3 days at least because I'd get keratin plugs and oil cleanser was the only non-abrasive way to remove them. Recently after adding salicylic acid, I discovered it keeps the keratin plugs away longer so I probably only need to use oil cleanser once a week now?

    From personal experience, for oily and combination skin, I’d recommend oil cleaning. By applying and massaging oil on your face, you’re tricking your sebum glands to stop producing too much sebum. I used a mix of castor oil and jojoba oil, massage it on my face, grab a clean, steaming hot towel and apply it to my face until cools down. I do that a couple of times until I feel like all the nourishing oil is in my pores. If need be, I apply a little bit of the same oil mix and that’s it. Simple. Works wonders.

    • @mary__simone
      @mary__simone 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Agreed! I wear a THICK layer of sunscreen everyday (and unfortunately, the sunscreen I'm currently using leaves a white caste. I'm trying to search for alternatives), and oil-cleansing (I use a balm) first at night helps break it all down, so that my water-based foaming acne cleanser can get everything else out of the pores and penetrate the skin better right after.

    Skincare is not equal. Everyone has different skin needs and can tolerate ingredients on certain levels.
    It is guess work honestly, but once you get with something that works, try to keep going.
    Healthy clear skin also relies on a health clear system. Eating eight, exercise, vitamins, correct amounts of water, GENETICS, clean hands etc play a part too. May not cure acne, but it can help

    If you have water resistant sunscreen, double cleansing is basically a must-have! Albolene is a very affordable option for a first step. Then use whatever cleanser has been working for you already to take off the albolene as well as the broken up sunscreen, makeup, and excess oil.

    Not to come off as biased or racist or anything, but it is so refreshing to see a well educated woc who's defied the odds and broken systemic barriers. As an African American girl, I've struggled to find a video that's just right for me and explains everything I need to be doing. Not only that, I'm getting this advice from another woman who LOOKS like me. Of course, here's nothing wrong with receiving advise from someone of a different race or ethnic background, but there's something about that sense of relation when getting advice/speaking to someone like me.
    Thank you so much! I really appreciate this video 🥺

    • @kiaralovecarter
      @kiaralovecarter 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most likely hormonal. Watch what you’re eating cut back on sugars and dairy especially and damn near drown yourself in water. A great spot treatment is the Mario Badescu drying lotion, a great diy sport treatment is tea tree oil.
      As far as cleaners I think the panoxyl creamy daily wash is a amazing for moderating breaks outs. As far as clearing up breakouts I use the Neutrogena oil free Salicylic acid Aloe face wash, put it on dry first (it’s called the dry cleansing method, when we immediately add water to our liquid cleansers were taking away some of its abilities), then I go in with a face mask, then I use tea tree oil or let the Mario badescu drying lotion sit on the spot over night.
      There are certain vitamins and natural supplements you can take to balance your hormones such as Maca root. Start with a low dosage. If you’re on birth control though I don’t recommend it.

    • @MissDetox
      @MissDetox 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kiara Love Carter thanks for the info. I’m not a dairy eater never really have been. I eat healthily; workout etc I guess my skin is just playing havoc.
      There is some positive news though my breakouts have calmed down since I’ve introduced the Oatmeal masks that Dr Alexis recommended . Aveeno thermal Water spray & drinking distilled water everyday are my skins best friends.
      I’ve heard mixed reviews on Mario Badescu drying lotion; but I’ve always wanted to try it...is it good for sensitive skin?

    • @RachelDaSilva
      @RachelDaSilva 4 ปีที่แล้ว +39

      The brushes are not only unnecessary but they are likely to over exfoliate and damage your skin. Only type of brush that's decent is a silicone head. The best form of exfoliation is chemical! Physical does more bad than good.

    I use to always wash my face under Lukewarm Water in the shower AM and PM get out and wipe my face dry. I joined skincare groups and was chastised for that and started patting my face dry. I was told by my Dermatologist shower cleansing is ok and other people online say absolutely not. My skin has been dry and flaky sincr March and I was on an expensive skincare line and patted and applied to damp skin at the sink. Well I saw my Dermatologist July 11th. He put me on Spironolactone. Well here I am and I cleanse AM and PM with LaRoche Posay Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Cleanser, I get out of the shower and pat my face dry when I get to the sink and I have an Essence with Willow Bark and Niacinamide that I only use below my lip and on my nose. After that I have been applying CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion instead of the Cream in the AM because I am trying to avoid pilling. At night my routine is the same and after I apply the Lotion I apply the CeraVe Moisturizing Cream. My skin is still still dry, still has flaky spots. If I look in the mirror I can see the dryness and the little dry flake specks. I'm mentally exhausted and this is starting to effect me emotionally and has lowered my self esteem. I don't know what to do anymore? I want my skin back, I want to put on a motorcycle helmet and not worry about my skin rubbing off possibly let alone my moisturizer pilling. I always have to wipe my hairline and sometimes my jawline to try and avoid that but unsure with the Lotion. 😔

    Doctor, what detergen should I wash my face towel?
    1. Does normal detergen works?
    2. Do I need to use softener after using detergen?
    3. Can I soak it in bleach to kill the germs?
    I hope you can answer these questions.

      Cold water closes pores but if their is dirt and bacteria in them how do you get it out? I’ve always heard to rinse with cold water but not wash...

    • @sunflowergirl1988
      @sunflowergirl1988 4 ปีที่แล้ว +229

      United WeStand actually you can’t change the size of your pores they depend on your genetics and also where you live (because of the climate) and from what I have gathered from dermatologist the only way to make them appear smaller is by cleaning well you skin to make sure that your pores aren’t clogged!! If they are clogged they look bigger because there is stuff in them...So cold water doesn’t change the size of them if you see a difference it could only be the fact that your skin gets tighter and usually it is recommended to wash your face with lukewarm water!! I hope it makes sense and it helped you ☺️

    I only wash my face once a week when I exfoliate the other 6 days I just wipe my face with lukewarm water and cloth. I only use nut oils almond, coconut or olive oil on my face I am 56 yrs. old and everyone thinks I am in my 30's. Everytime I go to the Dr's office when they call my name and I go to the back they always ask me to verify my date of birth because they think I can't be the person they called they are expecting to see someone much older looking. I also have never worn makeup on my face I think that has helped.
