    Up in Canada, ordered in April, picked up early August, so not a long wait. Great review! Agree on the cab configuration completely. Unnecessary if you aren't hauling people, but you are hauling goods where that longer bed is a better option, though I get that the body isn't a traditional truck construction. Because of that, I'll be keeping my 2011 Ranger on the road as long as possible. Main thought is that Ford realized the current Ranger (heard someone accurately call it the F100) was just too large for those who had been Ranger die-hards, like this girl. So the Maverick feels like the new-old Ranger, and given how fast they flew 'off the shelf', I suspect Ford got the message. And with my old reliable Ranger, when I miss the hand-crank windows, manual locks/mirrors, front bench seat, and rubber floors, I just take her for a satisfying drive. ;)

      Yea, i ordered mine also with cruise, but i had to upgade to xlt model for either cruise of sunroof. Roughly with the outlets and bed inserts it was 25-26k. But keeping it cheap was ingenious by ford cause not all of the items i purchased are needed by everyone. Actually the deal breaker for me since im a tad claustrophobic was the moon roof. Had to have it. But i was alreaky ordering a bronco that pullled 3500 lb so i didnt need this to be a hauler of heavy weight so id say for all the convenience items i added to make her more functional... Ford knocked this out the park!

    @christopherpardell4418 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    I ordered mine in September of 21. Took delivery in March. 31k with the turbo, all wheel drive and tow package. So far, its been fantastic. The turbo 4 offers much more power and the AWD gives it great stability and control. I’ve had 5 full grown adults in it without any discomfort. I was gonna get an optional bed storage- but it turned out the underseat storage was more than enough for everything I need to cart around. ( Tie down straps, first aid kit, flares, jumpers, and extension cord - it does have two 120 outlets after all ) As far as the cruise control, I might use it once or twice a year on a really long range drive, but other than that I never use cruise on any car. They are more trouble than they are worth for most driving I do. Folks saying it ‘should’ have those features at base price are missing that those little features add up and are why even a cheap economy car these days goes for 30K+. The base model offers great utility and passenger capacity for a super low price… considering the BASE ranger is 18k more than the base maverick, I don’t think people looking for the lowest cost for the most capability are going to pass this up. Also- seldom mentioned is that the truck is not too tall, so its easy egress and entrance. Overall, the second best vehicle purchase I’ve ever made. ( an Audi TT was the best )

      I just got the XLT, FX4 with Towing package a few days ago and I'm loving it. I bought from the dealer though... I did not get the 120 outlets but I did get the small rear window and sunroof did those 2 came in standard on yours also or was that added by my dealer? It also had the all weather floor mats. Mine came up to 35.5K but I'm in Puerto Rico where it has to be shipped and considering prices to bring in the vehicle I think it was very well priced.

      I'm also an audi owner (on my 5th!). I've been looking for an affordable truck/suv to use for my home renovation projects. This popped up and I think it's the one... im glad to know you also love it! The only part I'm struggling on is that hybrid doesn't have awd, and I'm worried that after driving the audi Quattro system for so long, I'll hate the fwd, especially since i live a bit north of Chicago (snow issues), but I really want the hybrid. What do you think of the gas mileage on the all gas engine?

    • @christopherpardell4418
      @christopherpardell4418 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@laelakarimi I just drove mine on a 1,000 mile round trip. I used eco-mode for much of the trip but did not use cruise control and I averaged 22.8 mpg. So better than nearly every other truck, but not the 30 mpg I usually get out of my 6 cylinder, 3.2L TT. But the AWD eco-boost engine does deliver about the same 250 horsepower as the 3.2 in the TT. And I have to admit that I am not an economical driver. I like a little more power. Folks who try to eek out the best mileage by being in eco mode all the time and using cruise control and Not turning off the engine Auto start/stop system that stops the engine at traffic lights and such report as good as 28 mpg. But keep in mind the thing has the aerodynamic finesse of a brick. I lived in Chicago a good long time, and FWD is way better than a rear wheel drive you would get on other trucks. The rear end is not gonna try and pass you. Audi Quattro systems are, for the most part, haldex driven, meaning they are predominantly FWD with a RWD assist as needed, so if you really want the great mileage, I would not avoid the hybrid over the FWD. Aside from the stronger torque steer, you are not gonna notice that much difference…. Be sure to get the newer year hybrid if you go for one, because the first year version has been plagued with quite a few recall issues, including engine fires. The 2023 models will likely have corrected a lot of the issues in the first year ( the eco-boost AWD system on the 2022 mavericks are an older system from another model that has been largely corrected and has no known issue thus far ). The real question between the two is use. Do you need to tow anything? How often do you see yourself loading the truck to near its 1500 lb capacity? If you plan on carrying a lot of people and gear in the back often, or plan to tow something over 2,000 lbs, then you will Need the AWD version, despite its worse mileage. For me, The TT is still my daily driver. I only intend to drive the truck a few times a month, but when I do it will be to fetch heavy stuff or tow a trailer… or haul my crew around…so the mileage is not as important as the pulling power.

    In December 2020, I bought a brand new car for $11,820 before taxes and registration. It has cruise, pwr mirrors, body-colored mirrors, 6" touch screen. Three cylinders and 78 horsepower, but the perfect car for what I need in a rural commute and my last five fuel tanks this Summer have returned 51-53 mpg. I'd like to trade my basic F150 std cab XL for an even more basic truck in a Maverick XL, but I too got to have cruise with a lot of hwy driving, and prefer pwr mirrors, as I can't stand outside my truck and adjust the mirrors while driving. I hav e ZERO problem with manual mirrors. I wish they’d give you a hand crank window, get rid of those shitty airbags, etc. ALL those things, and especially the deafness inducing airbags, add thousands to the price.

    I was surprised this truck was not in the Top Gun - Maverick movie. The movie did have a newer Kawasaki and a classic Porsche like the 1986 movie, also the actual 1986 900cc Kawasaki from the first movie, the first liquid cooled inline 4 motorcycle engine. Ford priced the Maverick well. The base model with no cruise control is more for city dwellers, also no all wheel drive.

    No you are not the minority on that. I too would rather have a "super cab" with a longer bed. I had a VW Rabbit pickup (45 MPG), the longer bed was awesome! But the Rabbit didn't have enough storage behind the seat. Ford would knock it out of the park if we could get these in a "super cab" configuration.

    with all the nonsense over chips, they could produce more if they just put blind spot on the mirrors, backup beepers and side blinkers and called it a day. Co-pilot really is techno mumbo-jumbo. I get the ACC but in the end if you can't make the stuff, just keep it simple and go old school. it works. I believe strongly what they are doing restricting orders on the hybrid is correct, even if a tad low. it sucks in some situations, but keeping that limited is good for everyone. they just need to be more upfront about how many they'll produce and let people change their orders to get a VIN, if necessary. In the Maverick, they cannot make so many version like a f150. I think the prices will quickly rise above $30k for an XLT hybrid in the next year.

Most p/u owners aren’t contractors, but use them for family transportation and hauling large volume stuff, like bike and boxes. Need awd? Really? Thanks for sharing, and here's some feedback. It is not generally accepted to start with the negatives when making comparisons, always start with the good things and then lead into the negative.
    Now, as for your issues with the base model:
    The no-splitting rear seat is to save costs. If you're buying the base, you most likely are not carrying people that often; if you are, it will most likely be one person.
    No 4wd is to save costs.
    Shorter box, TO SAVE COSTS.
    Non-electric mirrors (annoying) are too safe costs. So we go back to it 90%+ being one person in the truck most of the time.
    No cruise control, I'll agree with you on that one. Cruise not being there in the base model is counterintuitive to the idea of the increased fuel mileage for long trips.
    With that said, a segment in the truck community has always wanted this truck EXACTLY. I will say that I believe you are in the minority regarding how you would feel compared to why the base model was built.
    In the bed, the storage on the right side has a removable false floor for more oversized items.
    The tailgate can be adjusted to multiple heights.
    You can still get this year models in the Indianapolis area for XL - $19,995, XLT - $22,280, and the Lariat - $25,490
    I am looking at both the base model and the Lariat with the 2.0L EcoBoost, 4,000 lbs. towing capacity, 1,500 lbs. payload capacity (3/4 ton), and I am glad it only comes with the SuperCrew as I have never been a fan of the Supercab. For those that don't know the difference, a SuperCab has four doors; however, the rear ones are smaller and open backward, while the SuperCrew has four full-size doors that open all in the same direction.
    Overall, great video; again, thank you for sharing, and I hope I have helped people too!

    I kind of disagree with most of the stuff you dislike, since the hybrid was made to be the simplest, most basic and economical vehicle out there, that is the most functional and the one do-it-all option for a small family, a great choice when thinking about buying a compact car (Corolla, Civic, etc). Ergo, no AWD, no cruise/pm on the base model and no, no split fold rear seat, which is a concept that came from the SUV/passenger car side which offers more utility there. HOWEVER, I agree that maybe they should offer additional trims, such as a single cab with a 6-footer box. I mean the damn thing has a maximum payload of 1500 lbs which is a lot compared to past 4 cylinder trucks and 2 decade old small V6 pickups. I am assuming the payload would increase to the 1700-1800 lb range, close to the Ranger!. The problem would be that, since it is not a RWD vehicle, close to 70-80% of the weight would be in the front of the vehicle.

No cruise control in the base? No power mirrors? Those are basically no cost adds for ford. They just want people to have to spend several thousand more for things that base models have had for over a decade.
