I think she was faking her accent. My aunt is a native Japanese and lives for 50 years plus outside Japan but still has a problem to say 'L' while speaking my language very fluent.
That's what really kills new comedy for me. I understand hoping to encourage comedians by laughing at all their jokes, but at least let the punchline come out.
