  • Today I replace the steering rack in the 8ball (2nd gen Nissan Xterra). I tried to do the job as if the engine was still in the truck. This job was a total PITA and I did not enjoy it.

Hey Ryan, I just bought an auto 05 xterra SE 3 weeks ago. Just wanted to say thank you for all the amazing videos. You are the absolute best when it comes to knowledge on these trucks. You actually have really informative videos and such a, “you can definitely do this job” attitude. Please keep up the great videos!

replacing everything (mostly the rack) was probably the way to go. my xterra has under 160k miles and theres a decent amount of play in the steering wheel before the tires actually start to turn. great work!

Awesome! Hope it helps. Just pull that black hose first and let it all drain.

@@Rythecarguy same my daily, almost to the floor. I got new parts, still researching the way to correctly proceed. I did manage to fix the awful sound coming from my driver's side axel and replace both axels for less than $200 so HUGE HUGE thank you!!!!
