Great video as always Ry. Your funny and sarcastic comments while you’re working crack me up. I hope that’s not the only snorkel brand that fits our Xterra‘s, but I’ll figure that out when I buy one soon.
Good job Ry ! as for the pillar support what I did when I installed my snorkel I used this funny things called ( Hillman 1/4-in x 20 Brass Well Nut / 18 Pairs M4 M5 M6 Neoprene Well Nuts with Stainless Steel Screw ) they can be found at lowes or amazing.. worked great as they are rubber with nut inside I did not had to seal the hole on the pillar and it very secured P.S also the pillar bracket you need to flip upside donw.. )) 2 holes for pillar 1 hole for snorkel
Another great video! Nice to see the fender pulled for this job. I installed mine with the fender on but if I ever do another I'm going this route, or at least loosening the fender for it. I used a bit of sealant around the plastic elbow that mounts to the snorkel itself before I clamped it down. The bracket and hardware for the a-pillar worked fine for my install as I was able to get creative making the correct holes(square if I remember correctly?). Used a bit of clear sealant there too. Airflow is the only one made for the N50 Xterras. There is an R51 Pathfinder snorkel that will work with some modification. Far less expensive too haha. On a side note, I've noticed my intake air temps have dropped quite a bit and my air filter stays way cleaner after spending time in the dust. Well worth it.
Great timing - I ordered my snorkel end of August and received it Friday Sept 29th, just in time to watch your video. Found removing the fender made the process much smoother than expected - thank you! Also, as far as the bracket for upper support, I used mine by fastening the side with the two holes to the pillar and the slotted hole side to the snorkel, lining it up with one of the two captured brass nuts. I have a Volant intake and purchased the adapter which needed a little cutting and grinding to fit but other than than, I love the way it looks and that the air is coming from a better spot. Thanks again for your excellent videos (VK swap in the future)!
The forums show the bracket's double hole side bolted to the a-pillar and the "sliding" single hole attaching to the top snorkel hole. That makes sense since a single bolt on the a-pillar would tend to rotate over time and scratch things up. I guess the snorkel was made for other cars as well where the lower snorkel hole would be used instead.
Yea I realized that. Thank you, having the two recessed nuts really threw me off. I ended up using double sided tape on the pillar and the highest nut.
@rythecarguy boss super cool, super nice, super beautiful, May ask you about the snorkel where did bought it please I wanted to purchase also for my XTERRA
Not to be a buttinski, but when I ordered mine I found Offroad Gorilla had the best price. However, other vendors might ship it quicker as mine took a month to come in.
common misconception is that a snorkel is for water crossings only... while YES if you are going to do water crossings' the snork is a must but primarily controlling dust intake to the airbox is number one reason to add one, as stock air intake pulls air from the wheel well and if you drive on dirt roads at all you are just sucking down all that dust into your filter box that the tire kicks up and the snork is up high away from the dust cloud grabbing clean(er) air
How were you able to find someone to install them? All my local shops say they are to big for the stock 16s but I’ve seen so many others run them so I know that’s not true
@@PYROtheNomad They are such babies. I bought mine from Duncan at Nissan Parts Puller and they were already on the rims and I just installed them myself. I know it's a pain but if you just throw your X on jack stands, bring in just the rims and tires and tell them to put the new tires on them LOL. They will mount and balance and you just put them on yourself.
@@Rythecarguy ah ok that’s perfect. I guess that’s what I’ll have to do. I was actually looking at that exact tire size too. They look great on your X so they must look good on a lifted Pathfinder
@@Rythecarguy YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!.... Haha thanks. Based on what I'm seeing in other comments this one might be the only option.
By the way, you should do a video about your recording setup and equipment. You've always got good quality
Oh thank you I have fine tuned it over the years and I'm pretty happy with it. Lighting could use some more work but that's always the case. 💪🏻

I watched your snorkel install on your channel, found it very helpful and the bracket fasteners a great option - thank you!
@@shooofly6580 Thank you for watching as well ! and glad it was helpful!
Do you have to take the fender off ?
Awesome video!! Sucks that the only brand making Xterra Snorkels couldn't get the fitment right every time. Love the adjustments. Thanks for sharing
I have that same snorkel for the A piller part I bolted to one hole and did not drill into the piller I used 3m tape and it’s been doing great
Oh. That's a fantastic idea. I have double sided gorilla tape. It's a perfect application for that. Thank you!

I think the snorkel is not for water but for fresh air with lest dust if out in that kind of terrain.
Oh for sure. It's really for all that. Avoiding getting anything you don't want into your intake.
Nice bonus DIY on fender removal too.
Hell yea!!
I just purchased these plates from the dealership..I will get the gas tank one as well. I ordered the bolts as well. Thanks for the video
How much is the gas tank one. I'm interested
I posted on the wrong video 😮 the gas tank skid plate is over 500 Cdn. So no to that.

Looks like you need more Brennivin...lol
Haha tell me about it. And I need to fly back to Iceland to get it.
I need you to stop... I already decided I don't need a snorkel just to look cool. Now you've dug this inner debate back up again
😂 but but... just look at it. 🥺
Looks great! Nice job
Thanks! 💪🏻💪🏻
They are basically the only brand that makes a snorkel for the Xterra
Bummer.
That's awesome man 😊
Thanks 😁
Love the shirt lol. I gotta get one of those
Mr @rythecarguy, I have problems in 2006 Nissan Xterra off-road, I need your advice boss

Great vid! Thanks dude 😁
You're welcome! Thanks for watching.
could a "snorkle" be made to run under the fender and up the roof support making it mostly invisable? or is there no empty space?
Not nearly enough space in the A Pillar.
Awesome! What does 8 ball mean here?
Thanks man. 8ball is its name. I asked the viewers to help me name it. 8 ball is fun because it's black and has a V8! 💪🏻
@Rythecarguy alirght! I was wondering what I missed hehe
what kind/size tires are you running there?
285/75/16 and they are Americus AT/R's. quietest ATs I have ever driven. Gunna ride them off road soon to see how they preform.
Yo what size tire is that. About to go for bigger tires on my pathfinder.
