If you want to you can make a video on comparing the casting distance between a spinning reel and the aldebaran bfs xg. You can test out ultralight lures and slightly heavier (2/4 oz) lures and see which reel casts the furthest.

Ditto. Waiting to hear people’s experience with the Revo EXD. 20 lbs of drag is significant for a reel that light. I intend to use for chatters/spinnerbaits and double this to chuck for Muskies with lighter gear. I like the 5:4:1 to keep sinking reaction baits in the preferred water column. If it can bomb and handle the wind close to or a little shy of a Chronarch, I’ll pull the trigger. Probably asking for the best of too many worlds, but we will see.

It's all about weight management when getting that bait to fly straight through the air. It's the #1 way to increase your casting distance. You can get 20-50 more yards out of a spook or other roundish type baits if you learn how to make it fly straight. Love the video!!

Great video! Thanks alot for the info. I've always had problems with backlash in past baitcasting reels and have given up on them. I think it looks promising now with the Tatula series of reels. Might be the ticket for me. Can't wait to get on in the Spring and test it out. I hope 14 lb. fireline won't be a casting issue for me.

My opinion is to understand and learn what braking systems do and how they work on bait casters. I was so close to giving up on my first baitcaster but thank god I didnt. Once you practice and understand how the reel works then u will be happy I think. I personally learned from watching videos on TH-cam between the difference with magnetic(which Daiwa only uses) and centrifugal brakes. I personally like my Lews reels that have DBS which dual braking system. I find that centrifugal brakes are better for learning and backlashes for beginners. The spool tension knob is very import as well when starting out. Watch videos man and learn before buying a baitcaster to start with

Great test, very interesting. I have no problems casting my CT 100 all day on Magforce 6 using a variety of lures between 8-20g. Maybe because I use braid to leader? Great channel, although I think it would be much better if you tested the reels with braid. Outside the USA, not many people use mono, for good reason. Also you will attain a smoother further cast if you hang the lure from your rod a bit longer, it loads the rod a lot better and makes a massive difference, particularly on very light lures. I greatly enjoy the comparison vids, so keep up the good work.

my question is what are the actual differences in the parts on the reels? a lighter spool is technically going to accelerate quicker while a heavier spool may not get up to the same speed it maintains its speed more constantly when reached. so depending on the weight of your lures they're going to have different Dynamics and need different help from the mag brake. But like the guy said earlier if you're not using the same rod it's really hard to doing exact one to one functional test on casting because the way a rod loads up.
I know this has nothing to do with fishing gear but I do know in Shimano bike parts there are minor differences in some of the lineup. some of it being, cosmetic and some are trimmed weight, or adjustments. so depending on what you need many times a lower model is just slightly heavier and less cosmetic in the case where no adjustments or different technological designs are involved. The same bearings, shaft , and internal parts are the same but they're trimmed weight in metal castings and cosmetic details.
Like the guy said above., all things being equal you need to use the exact same rod for a test like this. But even then I may argue that's not a perfect control either as the exact same adjustments on the spool tension maybe be slightly differently demanding different assistance from the mag brake.
it's also minor deviations in manufacturing in the interface of parts. as the tooling for machining has slight deviations in itself depending on if it was late in the run on the production line. that I would say under good quality control is probably the least of difference of effects.... For the most part the differences would be in design and weight of parts that have a different dynamic effect of functioning. still interesting to see how close they were even though you used two different rods

Spending more for better performance is worth it. However, the question is how much more performance is worth $80 dollars. Higher retrieve ratio, longer casting and better casting distance of light lures are good reasons if you like using Daiwa tackle. If you are looking for top performance for money spent and don’t care what brand name is on the reel it may not be the top choice. Loyal Daiwa enthusiasts are going to pick Daiwa and be happy. I see nothing wrong with that choice for them. However, if their favorite Daiwa reel is tested against other reels and falls short. They get irritated the same as when their favorite sports team is pummeled by a lower ranked team. This is a never-ending story that makes watching your videos interesting. When a Chinese reel pummels both Daiwa and Shimano that is even more interesting. This makes the top dogs wake up and take notice. All is good on THE REEL TEST channel.

Hey... ive been a subscriber for a very long time... i really like your test and all... but u really need to know that not all reel can be setup the same as other... i noticed that u use the same tension knob setting on all the reel u test... i recommend u to play a bit with that thing... my tatula type R can easily beat a curado K ... even if i cant adjust the magforce dial anymore... i can tweek my tension knob a bit... and that makes a fucking big difference... this mostly only works for daiwa reel that uses the magforce z system... try it... u will know what im talking about... and about those tatula sv tw u have been doing video againts the shimano... i promise u the sv tw can beat the curado if u play a bit with those tenaion knob... thanks anyway... nice video

And you don't do it, but only removing preicison from your tests. You need a standard to set the tension knob, to make a referential for this variable. I defended you in the Curado DC vs Tatula elite, since daiwa itself tell us to not mess in the fine tune. But now this lack of methodological rigor is compromising your tests.

I just went on an obsessive rant in my head about the Chronarch price, value, performance, application range vs every other reel on the market. If I had 1 reel to use for all bass casting applications, I might pick the Chronarch over a Metanium

I know you feel like you are being fair in your assessment of this Daiwa reel, but I can tell you as a viewer that you are far less critical of Shimano than Daiwa. Not sure why though? They both have pro's and con's and I'm glad we have both! From what I am seeing on this review, I think this Elite will be a top pic at the $200 mark. I agree, not the top pic at 250-300.

Tackle trap has the tatula elite spools for under $50. Buy the 100, then buy the elite spool. Boom. Instant tatula elite.
And yes the elite spool fits the 100 but not the sv.
